Posted August 2, 201410 yr Hello everyone,so I placed an order on Lego.com a couple days ago for a Lego death star 10188 and yesterday for an Exo suit. At the time of order for both items they had been listed as out of stock but had an expected shipping date. My question is how good is Lego at shipping items out by their expected date? Do they usually get them out by that date or are they usually late shipping them? Thanks
August 2, 201410 yr Ditto. I've placed two orders this week with expected ship dates of August 14th or later that are already at least partially fulfilled.
August 3, 201410 yr Author Alright thanks guys that makes me feel pretty good! And one more thing I kind of have to do some searching on the Lego website to find my orders since they are backordered, is this normal? The orders are not in plain sight and I didn't get an email confirming either of the orders so I was wondering if that was normal as well. And will I hear from Lego once the orders are shipped? Thanks guys
August 3, 201410 yr Recently, the last four or five orders, I haven't received shipping notices from LEGO.com, although I get the order confirmations pretty quickly so I know they have my correct email address. I have to go online to My Orders and get tracking info there. The last time an item was backordered (Grand Emporium) a few weeks ago, I never knew it had shipped until it turned up. Not sure what's going on. I used to get "shipped" notices all the time.
August 3, 201410 yr Author Alright the only thing that concerned me was that I didn't receive an order confirmation email for either of the two orders but I do get other emails from Lego ID and the lego shop so I'm not sure why I didn't get those emails. And another thing I think it said that I won't get billed until the orders are shipped to me, is that true?
August 3, 201410 yr Author Can't you call them to confirm the orders? I suppose I could, I just didn't really feel like doing it. Maybe I'll give them a call
August 3, 201410 yr You'd be amazed at how easy it is to get answers to questions when you ask them directly to the people who have the answers. (I blame cell phones. )
August 3, 201410 yr Most merchants do not charge your card until the item ships. The easiest way to check on it is just to go to shop.lego.com and look under order status. I find the order confirmation emails and the shipping notice emails often seem to go missing. But the web site seems pretty accurate. As far as how accurate the ship date is? It varies, and will often depend on what exactly it is, and how much control over the supply chain. As examples, Exo Suit is probably extremely accurate. If anything it will ship sooner than expected. That is a new product that they have total control over. Death Star is probably pretty close to accurate. That is an old product that is starting to EOL, and they are most likely shifting inventory around. Compare this to the IR receivers a few months ago. The expected ship date on them kept getting pushed back. But that was a part that required outside overseas vendors so Lego did not have total control over it.
August 5, 201410 yr I have noticed things go from available September 15 to Available August 15 in one day and then the next day to being available now..lol, I think its all very conservative and really not that accurate what they put on the availability, just keep checking it... :-) Like others say too, it can go in the opposite direction, keep getting pushed farther into the future.. August 7, 201410 yr And another thing I think it said that I won't get billed until the orders are shipped to me, is that true? In over thirty orders from shop.lego.com they have never taken money from my credit card until an item is ready to ship. That extends to split orders, e.g. they billed me on Friday when I ordered Research Institute and Exo-Suit together, but only for the amount of the former as that was the only one in stock and ready to go. I too have found that the expected ship dates are very conservative estimates, with both out-of-stock items I have ordered so far - The Simpsons House and Benny's Spaceship - being delivered at least two weeks ahead of schedule. The other trend I have noticed is that about 90% of the time the order will arrive later on the same day that I receive the invoice e-mail (not the order confirmation one). All of this may depend on your location though, so for the record I am in the UK and my lego.com orders ship from The Netherlands.
August 8, 201410 yr Lego shipping rarely makes sense to me. I get the giveaway polybags showing up in an envelope by itself vis FedEx all the time, while the rest of the order shows up a week or two later. Happened with another order again today. I got the mini-mini today, some PF stuff is coming in a separate box, while the Exo-suit only shipped today and 4 M-motors are still backordered. Edited August 8, 201410 yr by rollermonkey
August 8, 201410 yr Apparently Lego is experiencing problems with their email system. I just got this email from them about my purchase I made this week. Thank you for your recent order: ***********. We apologize that due to a technical error with our email system between July 31 and August 6, you may not have received an order status, or shipping confirmation email regarding your order. If you have not received your order, you may check the status by visiting our Order Status Page. Here is some additional information on what your order status means: Your order will show a status of "Customer Service" during the review process and we will contact you only if there are any problems, in which case the status would change to "Please Contact Customer Service." If your status is "In Process," then your order has been reviewed and is ready for shipping. Once your order is "In Process," we cannot make any changes to the order. When your order ships, the status will change to "Shipped" and a tracking number will made available. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for being a valued LEGO® shopper. Sincerely, Your LEGO® Customer Service Team
August 8, 201410 yr ^^Yep, just got that email tonight - got it 4 days after ordering my Exo Suit. Still hoping it ships out when I ordered it saying "will ship in 30 days"...
August 14, 201410 yr I placed an order last week for the Technic Cargo plane- received both the order confirmation email and the item shipped email, and both showed up today in the same box. (USA/NY)
August 14, 201410 yr ^^Yep, just got that email tonight - got it 4 days after ordering my Exo Suit. Still hoping it ships out when I ordered it saying "will ship in 30 days"... I got that email, too. I placed an order and didn't receive any email about it until that same message, which arrived about three hours after the package was delivered. My advice: check the order status online and don't depend on email. Edited August 14, 201410 yr by m0dulo
