raminator Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I read some time ago, that Mega Blopps may have lost their Blizzard licenses. But I doubt Lego would make WOW sets sibce it's basicly a jellybean version of lotr. If there' s castle sets next year then it will look exactly like current line with the blue and red swaped for another colors... Quote
fred67 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 @Robert8, if it's not a fantasy related line, I won't be interested, but I'd definitely be interested in Arthurian legend; that sounds like a great idea to me. Quote

If there' s castle sets next year then it will look exactly like current line with the blue and red swaped for another colors... If Mega Bloks lost the WoW license, that might explain why there haven't been any new sets since the creature sets awhile back... kind of a shame. I love WoW, and had high hopes for the line continuing (even if the sets were MBs, and thus didn't have the right feel and would fall apart at a slight breeze). Sindragosa, Deathwing... fun creatures. Fun vehicles, too. The minifigs were a bit awkward, and the weapon selection extremely limited... but my biggest disappointment is they never finished off the races/genders. No dwarves, trolls, Forsaken, draenei... no females at all, as I recall. I would love for TLG to have a crack at Azeroth, but there's so much I know they'd never get to even if they had the license (I'd love a dwarven inn, a human inn, stuff like that)... and the minifigs would understandably not feature the 'swappable armor' feature of the Mega Bloks (aside from usual Lego accessories) and thus would lack the Big Shoulders many WoW characters are known for. But a little Lego Thrall, Varian Wrynn, Jaina Proudmoore, Magni Bronzebeard, etc... that stuff would be a joy to see (and at least we'd get some neat weapons, prints, and hair/helmets out of it!) But I'd be happy enough with a return to Fantasy, expanding it even more... the CMF Elf Warrior needs some friends, and the old trolls could use their own Market Village! Quote
Martin_B Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) It's nice to see so many people who want an Arthurian-themed Castle set. I love the idea too! The legends are a bit vague in that the stories seem to vary throughout history, but there's a strong 'moral' theme and there are really memorable characters. A re-imagining of Camelot would be a sight to see! My only reservation is that it's a very localised thing, being an English legend. But the same could be said of the Wild West and Vikings! I don't think that this would be a problem. Given the high profile of Arthur's legend in film, TV and literature, it's a great candidate for an historical hero-themed line. I'm sure there have been some really good MOCs that follow the theme...before checking the Search function, I do remember a 'Lady of the Lake' posted here somewhere... EDIT: yep, there is indeed a 'Lady of the Lake' MOC, and several threads where members here have suggested a King Arthur-themed theme in the past. Hopefully TLG will take the hint... Artanis I Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 TLG taking on a Blizzard licence. I can see it now: demon hunters & witch doctors fighting vile temptresses & demonic thralls in the depths of hell... okay, so Diablo is probably out of the question! Quote
gedren_y Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I doubt that Lego will do the Arthurian Legends. Even in the tamest version, there is too much religious iconography to meet TLG's standards. Quote
Frozen Assasin Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I would like to have a cross-over between fantasy and Knight's Kingdom. Complete with outdated AF. Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I know Arthurian legends does have a lot of religion, but Lego did Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade sets and the whole plot of that was centred on the Holy Grail, very like a similar quest in Arthurian mythology. I don't think Lego would even need to buy a license, as they wouldn't be basing it on any particular media and could only do the child-friendly parts of the tales. And who wouldn't turn down a Lego Merlin? Quote

Sigolf Brimabane Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Tbh I kind of wish we won't get more licensed stuff... I loved LotR and would have liked to get all the sets, but licensed sets are just too expensive. The most over-prized set I've ever seen is the Lonely Mountain set. I think it costs like 1200 SEK at the cheapest place, and the set has around 800 pieces. My guess is that Smaug is supposed to make up for those 400 SEK but I don't think he's worth it. :/ I used to buy lego from amazon.co.uk when I got the first LotR stuff and Castle 2013. Back then the GBP was pretty cheap and there was free shipping (the good old days). Now the GBP is expensive and they have shipping costs. My only hope now is original lego sets because they are the only ones I might be able to afford :) I won't speculate in this I think. When we get news, we'll know. And it seems there might not be a Castle line at all in 2015... How long is it usually between Castle lines? Quote
Ardelon Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Well, Castle tends to be a summer release, so I would expect news sometime in the spring. Its way too early to say now... Quote
Blakstone Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Except the 2015 retailers catalog has been leaked for sometime now. There is no Castle in it at all. Quote
Fletcher Floyd Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I grew up with Yellow only minifigs and flesh tone is a massive improvement. It may not be iconic but it looks much better than having a world populated by Simpsons characters. I will not buy any yellow figs because it is the past and obsolete. I grew up with yellow Minifigs only too and I like both. If I had the choice between yellow and flesh, I'd choose flesh. I personally think there's nothing cooler than Classic Castle Minifigs with flesh skin. Here is an example: The current castle line is quite okay, but by far not as great as "Kingdoms" or the Classic Lion- vs. Falcon-Knights-Series. A return of the forestmen would be great!! Quote

Usually they are back to back, so no gap between, but every now and then there might be 1 year gap. We got nothing in 2012, 2014 and very possibly nothing next year! Except the 2015 retailers catalog has been leaked for sometime now. There is no Castle in it at all. But it is only for the 1st half of the year? Quote
Venkefedo Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 But it is only for the 1st half of the year? Yeah, I didn't think many, if any, of the summer sets were really known yet. Quote
Ardelon Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Yeah, I assumed the catalog was only for the first half-year. If so, there is still hope, if not, then bummer... Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 See I would like it if some of the new, purely unlicensed waves of sets became flesh faced, merely because it would fit with licensed sets. Imagine being able to put a new castle wave with LOTR :cry_happy:Some of the original and classical waves can remain yellow faced for those who prefer those styles. Happiness all around! Quote

I would be pretty disappointed in a fleshie non-licensed Castle theme. I have a better solution: switch the yellow heads & hands for fleshie ones. Of course I could do the same with any fleshie Castle figs, but that wouldnt mean a reversal of TLGs policy. Edited November 20, 2014 by Ardelon Quote

Ooops, sorry for that;-) As I said, I like them both. But regular Lego (Castle) Sets with flesh-Minifighs could bring us a larger variety of Flesh-Faces for kitbashing, so I'd personally appreciate that kind of experiment. Quote

I totally agree. Fleshies - whether in licensed or unlicensed lines - are perverse. They certainly have no place in my collection. Unfortunately, fleshy necklines and elf ears make it tricky to swap the wretched things out for lovely, yellow alternatives. I know there are ways of yellowing fleshy parts - and I use one - but they're far from ideal. Quote
