Doc_Brown Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Incredible Moc! So many functions and details. Great how you managed to fit it all in too. Great job. Quote
sm 01 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 NICE Dice on the mirror = BEST Wow this is awesome, any chance of instructions?. What a beauty. Incredible Moc! So many functions and details. Great how you managed to fit it all in too. Great job. Nice 'rod, bad to the bone Thank you all! I'm very glad you like it! technicfan, I'm sorry but there are no instructions and I didn't planned to make them. To be honest, I'm still new in this and I don't have any experience in making instructions, but If I decide to make the instructions I will let you know Quote
Rishab N Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Amazing model. Looks really cool and great functions Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 It really took my hat off!!! How can anyone "actuallly not like" hot rods!? It really looks a true badass. I like the idea of exhausts being attached only to pneumatic hoses. Chrome details really make the model more realistic. Red strings for cables are also I nice touch. Congratulations! Quote
CADScott Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That is one of the best hot rods I have seen in Technic, truly amazing build! Quote
TimH Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Awesome Moc! So many functions and great attention to detail. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 This is a really fantastic moc! You've done an amazing job fitting all the features in the chassis, and at first glance, I didn't notice it was RC. There are some awesome features here as well! Very well done! Quote

Thank you very much for your comments! I'm really happy that you all like it! MajklSpajkl and TimH, youtube videos of a real hot rods were a great inspiration for all those details. There are some incredibly talented builders and amazing hot rods out there. dhc6twinotter, I've tried to hide all RC parts to make it look more real - apparently, I was successful at first glance. Thanks! Jim, wow, thanks!! :excited: I have to be honest, I didn't know what to expect when I joined EB and I could only dream about such a good response. I'm very happy that I joined EB, you've all made me feel very welcomed. Edited August 11, 2014 by sm 01 Quote
erix Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Very nice! The proportions are right on. Love the tire combo! Quote
Zzz Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Welcome to EB! This is such a cool Hot Rod, a really stunning model with a lot of character. The functions and details are amazing, I especially like the turning lights (never seen this before) and the rear suspension. You surely put a lot of time and effort into this. Are you going to dismantle it eventually to use the parts for something else, or how do you deal with that issue? I wonder cause this is model I think it would be hard to split with. Quote

To be honest, I would like to have thinner front tires but, fortunately, this combination is good enough. Welcome to EB! This is such a cool Hot Rod, a really stunning model with a lot of character. I'm very happy to be here, in fact so much that I'm sorry that I didn't join EB earlier That's a good question! I haven't decided what to do with it yet, but you're right, it is the result of months of work and it would be hard to just take it apart. Fortunately my girlfriend likes it and she is convincing me to keep it. There are three options actually: 1. Keep it as is - it will mean me much more than any official LEGO set and there are always bricklink and Lego stores for parts, 2. Modify it - change its look and/or functions and make another hot rod based on this model, 3. Dismantle it, but with taking pictures of each step to make some kind of instructions.... I'm curious, what would you do? For now, I will just play with it. I've already made a short video of a drag race between it and my motorized 8070 supercar: Third gear was a winner for the Hot rod! First and second were too slow and forth has slow acceleration (but greater max speed so it would be a better choice for longer track)... Edited August 11, 2014 by sm 01 Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 From our point of view - making a detailed photo sequence is your top choice - no doubt I think you could also make some cash out of it... Quote
BusterHaus Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) This is simply beautiful. I finished a hot rod last night and it has nowhere near the features of the one that you made. Any chance of seeing it driven? How does it handle? Edit: driven outside or in a larger area than a hallway? Edited August 12, 2014 by BusterHaus Quote

sm 01 Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) I love it! Put it on Ideas! m0dulo, I'm glad you like and thank you for your support. I'm not sure this is a model for LEGO Ideas. It has too many custom chrome parts and it is loaded with power functions - would make an expensive set. What do you guys think? From our point of view - making a detailed photo sequence is your top choice - no doubt I think you could also make some cash out of it... Hahahahaha, nice! Thanks for the advice! This is simply beautiful. I finished a hot rod last night and it has nowhere near the features of the one that you made. Any chance of seeing it driven? How does it handle? Edit: driven outside or in a larger area than a hallway? Thank you, I look forward to see your hot rod! Actually I've already filmed it two days ago, while driving outside. I'll upload the video as soon as I finish editing. It is a great fun to drive it outside but it has two problems, both related with IR receiver: 1. Range - drive outside is fun if you like to walk one step behind it all the way, 2. Range - to make it look more realistic, I've positioned (hidden) IR receiver behind seats, in front of the rear window. Since the roof acts as an obstacle for IR receiver, It can significantly influence your position in relation to the car you are trying to control. Works best if you are behind it or from a side of it. While we're at it, I can't wait to get my SBrick! Nice work on the suspension, love it Thanks Andyrccar! m0dulo Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I skimmed over this in a hurry the first time just before I posted how cool this was and it should be on Ideas. I just watched that video and my jaw dropped three times (RC, fan, turn signals). This is very, very cool. Quote

m0dulo Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) Thanks m0dulo! So you don't think anymore that it is for LEGO Ideas? I think for it to qualify for Ideas it would have to be a much different car. Besides the idea itself, the sets seem to range from $20 to $50. I'd rather it be 1500-2000 piece Technic set for about $200 like the 4x4 crawler! If I could buy this set, I'd buy two and make a Rat Rod version. I'd chop the top more, add some custom rust and bondo stickers, take off the mufflers, and possibly use a different color for one panel. :) Edited August 13, 2014 by m0dulo Quote
Splat Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 This is a great MOC. Great looks and loads of functions. Well done Quote
