legomuppet9 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Or if it's the first time you give away instructions, maybe you should give it for free. I'm not fan of this instructions-for-money thing that's spreading, I really think there are not many models that qualify for their instructions being sold. And an LDD file? Seriously it's not that of a hard job to make an LDD version even for an inexperienced LDD modeller (especially since many of us make an LDD version for ourselves to preserve the model in a way). Making real instructions is at least a hard job and I can understand wanting charging for that (still not many models/instructions qualify for that). Your first instructions for sale without trying your other stuff is a big no for me personally. Sorry for the rant, nice model by the way. And what I wanted to say: if you give this one for free, you have better chance for many people to build it and get to know you and they will be more likely to pay for your next models. True dat. As beautiful as the model is, I wouldn't pay for LDD instructions which really don't take that long to do... Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Hmm, those guys do have a point, considering that sheo, for example, is giving his Terex away for free... Of course, all this noise about your instructions does not dispute the quality and beauty of your model. Best regards. Quote
Black-Build Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) If you won't reach the $100, nobody will get instructions right? Even if you have payed and $95 is reached...? Anyway, I won't buy LDD instruction... Edited August 26, 2014 by Black-Build Quote
m0dulo Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) If you won't reach the $100, nobody will get instructions right? Even if you have payed and $95 is reached...? Good point. It does not work like Kickstarter where you only pay if the goal is met. From gofundme's website: What if I don't reach my goal? No problem. With GoFundMe, you keep each and every donation you receive. Reaching your goal is not required. Edited August 26, 2014 by m0dulo Quote
Rishab N Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) If you had actual instructions generated from Ldraw like Blakbird then you should charge 5 dollars per instruction. Technic models in LDD are harder to make but it is not the same quality as Ldraw Edited August 26, 2014 by Rishab N Quote
VKTechnic Posted August 27, 2014 Author Posted August 27, 2014 Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have made a few changes: There is no $100 goal: as soon as you donate, you will receive the LDD file. I'm lowering the "price" of the LDD file to $1.00. The reason I had it at $5.00 earlier was to keep track of donors (GoFundMe's minimum donation amount for a "Reward Level" is $5.00). I will also be making a small PDF document with some tips for building the model. For example, there are a few parts missing from the model, as well as some temporary parts. The PDF will be e-mailed with the LDD file to those who donate. Thanks again for your thoughts. Quote
VKTechnic Posted October 12, 2014 Author Posted October 12, 2014 UPDATE: The LDD file is out for free! Get it here. Quote
