Brickdoctor Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 OoC: Wait, 19 Damage from the Free Hit? I think it should be (30(Enemy Level)*2(Reckless)/2(Back Row)-23(SP))/2(Halved Damage from Free Hits)=4 Damage. "Lady Annienal, switch targets with me so I can try to Blind the other Lancer." I attack Dream Lancer B from the Back Row with my Darksteel Crossbow. Quote

Emjajoas Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 (edited) The Party ventures forth, heading towards their next destination-- the Clearing. Every few steps, the world shakes. The rain seems as though pieces of the sky are breaking apart and falling towards the ground, accompanied by a cold, cutting wind. The dark sun in the sky looks ever onwards, casting an eery light over the otherwise dull path. It doesn't take the party long to reach their destination, but as soon as they do, they dive for cover. A group of Dream warriors seemed to be patrolling the clearing, talking in hushed tones. "You reckon the boss'll reward us if we take 'em out?" "I reckon you're an idiot. This is a dream-- what's our reward going to be? Nothing in here's even real." "'At just means the reward'll be all the sweeter, yeah? Imagine what Maya'd be able to cook up for us." "Shut up and stop thinking about food, bastards, and keep your eyes peeled. I'd rather not disappear because you're incompetent." The heavily-armoured soldier sighs, muttering to himself. "Bloody world's falling apart and you're thinking about food. Why did I get stuck leading this band of miscreants, eh?" "If the Marquis wakes up, we ain't ever eating again, aye? Hope he keeps 'is eyes shut, then." "Damn intruders are breaking apart the world, though, sleeping or not. If it falls apart, well..." The red rogue shrugs. "As long as winter doesn't end, everything will be fine. And you'll get your grub, fatty." The white-bodied lancer seems to glare at his compatriot for a while, and after the in-charge armoured soldier barks at them to "shut the ever-burning Hell up, you worthless mutts," the group of enemies quiet down and march around the clearing silently. The archers at the back seem to be scanning the area aggressively, their faces always in motion, much like what their eyes must be. What will the party do? Edited August 19, 2014 by Emjajoas Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I whisper to the rest of the party. "Master Vandagant, before we do anything else, I suggest you swap out your Tricorne for your Dream Helmet, then lend the Tricorne to Master Barkley." "Do we want to use a bomb or something here, or should we just run out there, give Diplomacy a shot, then open fire?" Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 As suggested by Docken, Alexander equip the Dream Helmet and lend the Tricorne to Francis. "They don't seem very inclined to diplomacy, I think we are going to fight them anyway; maybe t's better if we use the surprise effect?" Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 "That was my thought as well. We could throw a number of things out there first — bombs, Bones, Decoys — but I don't think it'll be necessary. We could try to circle around and surround them or something; I'm not sure if that will make a difference. Or I can jump out first and see what they do, if you prefer." Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 "We could lunch a bomb in the middle of the dream soldier's group and then, as they are dsoriented and damaged, attack them. And I don't let you jump in the fray without us as a backup." Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 "Right then — Lightning Bomb, then we ambush them? If the past enemies are any indication, it doesn't really matter which bomb we use." Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 "Ok, let's go!" The party, with Docken at the head, comes as close as possible to the Dream Soldiers group without being seen by the soldiers and when in range, Docken throws a Lightning Bomb in the middle of the Dream Soldiers' group. As the bomb detonates, the party join the frail against the disoriented Dream Soldiers. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 OoC: Just in case I need to post the action... Circling around and staying out of sight, I throw a Lightning Bomb from the Back Row before stepping out to engage the enemy. OoC: I get the feeling that we were supposed to go the diplomatic route here. Whatever, shoot first, get loot and XP, then ask questions. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 "Master Vandagant, Lady Annienal and Master Barkley are going to be more or less one-shot Knocked Out if they trigger the Elite Dream Archer's Special. Also, considering that there are more enemies than heroes, it would be best if we avoided the ones who could Stun one of us, for now. We also shouldn't waste the benefit of some enemies being Stunned by letting them get Free Hits, since we can take the Free Hits regardless of whether or not they are Stunned. "I suggest that Master Barkley and Lady Annienal attack the Dream Rogue and Dream Lancer. Both of those enemies are Stunned, so they'll be safe to attack. Master Barkley should attack the Dream Rogue, that way his Triple Shots will hit more important targets, so Lady Annienal gets the Dream Lancer. "Then your target of Elite Dream Archer B is fine; I'll take Elite Dream Archer A. "The Order of Actions should be: Lady Annienal, myself, you, Master Barkley. Then the Dream Knight will get a Free Hit against Lady Annienal, negated because he's Stunned, and the Elite Dream Knight will get a Free Hit against me, which I can more than safely take." Quote
