When I saw Madoca's original beauty in an earlier thread I knew I had to build it. I simply adored the elegancy of its lines. I thought the red colour was kind of boring though (seems like all supercars have to be red), so I figured I'd build the car in black rather than red. I also thought the original interior was kind of sparse and I didn't like the PF wires being in full view, so I covered these up with an all-tan interior. For shits and giggles I also added a 'supercharger' I was kind of going for this look.

So, a short list of what I changed/added:

  • Full-black exterior instead of red, even replacing all the pins and axles by black ones
  • Full-tan interior, covering up the PF wires
  • Chrome silver wheels and 'hub caps'
  • Chrome silver side exhausts
  • Chrome silver 'supercharger'
  • Miscellaneous other chrome silver detailing
  • Improved switching mechanism for front lights to make it more reliable and make the front light pop up further

Now, without further ado, some pictures:

Many thanks to Aureliusz Falowski for his excellent chromed Technic parts! And ofcourse thanks to Madoca for the brilliant original creation.

Hope you like it!

P.S.: apologies for the mediocre quality of the photos, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to photographing and DSLRs.

True, but not as expensive as the four black 19L soft axles

True. Last time I looked there was 1 (!) on Bricklink for 20€ or so.

Just WOW.

I don't care if you don't like MOCs with non-official LEGO parts, you can't deny that this is a work of beauty!

I can't wait to see if Madoca comments!

I've notified him. Maybe he will consider this sacrilege

Chrome looks right on this sort of model, super charger sets the whole theme and looks very well

This is the look I was going for:

And you have captured this look in a really perfect manner, congrats!

Even if it sounds a little Bit crazy spending for 4 soft black axles more money than one needs for a new flagship ;-))

Well I was after them for a LONG time, so when I had the opportunity to buy four mint ones I jumped at it. They're not getting any cheaper, unless TLG decided to use them again (which I highly doubt).

Looks cool! Thank you jantjeuh, I was one of those who wanted to see the Vette in black!

Most of the red parts can easily replace in black. Except for 19L soft axles and bushes.

About 19L soft axle, I have these alternatives.

003%20(1024x576).jpg

Front is #3 connector and 16L.

001%20(1024x576).jpg

Rear is 16L and #4 connector.

002%20(1024x576).jpg

Since the set 42026 have 3x 16L soft axles in black, they would be less expensive than 19L.

About bushes, I have few of them in black. They are not common in recent years... :look:

Great to hear the Lego Sensei himself likes my MOD :classic:

Black bushes are indeed quite rare, but I managed to snatch up 27 of them earlier, so that was no problem. It was harder to replace all the blue axle pins with black ones! Used about 50 of those. Black axles of odd length are quite easy to acquire, though, same for black 3L long pins. The tan parts were mostly pretty cheap, apart from the pin connectors and the bushes.

I think all in all the parts in this MOD are worth around € 600.

Great and, almost certainly, one of a kind MOD because of rare and expensive parts used. Kudos for the effort!

It looks amazing in black/chrome combination!

The reason it looks so good is because the original is so incredibly well-designed! All credits to Madoca for that, I merely made a few adjustments.

Looks great! Excellent choice on the colour for the interior, works great with black. 600 euros is alot though, but the chrome and soft axles don't come cheap

One minor nitpick compared to Madoca's, best explained with the images provided:

Press it down so the rear above the tail lights look more like this?

If you did it on purpose, because you like it more that way, ignore this :classic:
