DrJB Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 I might be going through a second 'dark age' ... but somehow none of the new sets appears that appealing. Not to be negative, but somehow most sets are already deja-vu ... Though, I did get some of the new snowmobile parts directly from TLG. Quote
jantjeuh Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 There's more to Lego than buying sets, isn't there? Quote
DrJB Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) agreed ... the other factor might be that lego is typically (for me) a winter hobby ... summer is too nice to spend indoors. Will see what happens in the coming months. Edited August 15, 2014 by DrJB Quote
taspel Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Since im just recentley out of my dark age, i have 42025 and 42030 on order. Also got some older sets (8043, 8110, 9396 and 42009) It's the only good thing with a dark age, everything is shiny and new! Quote
Simarilius Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I've got 42025 and 42022 recently. Thanks to this thread I also just impulse bought 42021 as when i looked it up on amazon to see what it was like it was on offer. Been on a bit of a shopping spree recently, bought 9398, 9392, 42007 and 42008 as well, 42008 came bundled with the cargo plane on ebay. Quote
archy970 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I have too the Volvo loader 42030 on order. It will be shipped next monday. Quote
miguev Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I just got the 42021 snowmobile. Twice. I love it's new suspension arms, the other new pieces it introduced are nice too. I'm now much more into doing MOCs, even if that means building just one or two (or just half) things per year, I'm in no rush. Quote
Lakop Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 42020, 42021, 42022 and 42029. I did not realise I'd bought them all this year but as the boxes are staring at me...just a few parts to get now. H Quote
-SD- Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 My Son and I have built the Hot Rod, Construction Crew, Container Truck, Cargo Plane and the Desert Racer from the first wave of the year's releases. We went to Toys R Us a couple of weeks ago, as it was his birthday, and got the Volvo L350F as well as the Pick-up Truck. Quote
dr_spock Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I haven't bought any of the 2014 Technic sets yet. Waiting for when they are deeply discounted. Quote
Kronos Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 So far the snowmobile and the pick-up truck. Quote
JGW3000 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Only the desert racer, but not for me, its for my kids birthday Quote
Thirdwigg Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Only the snowmobile. Waiting for all the sets for 8 months kind of burned me. I might be done for the year. Quote
syy89 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Only 42025 so far. Will get 42030 at a later date. Quote
m0dulo Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Only the desert racer, but not for me, its for my kids birthday Mmhmm. Quote
twoofive Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Until now i have bought the plane, the small dozer and the pickup. In a later stage i Will buy the volvo. Quote
zux Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 There are soem sets with good parts, but not all of them are worth buying. There was a good discount in one retails shop chain so I bought 42021 and 42025. 42022 was a present. Quote
Trawler Man Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) So far, i picked up 42025, 42029, 42028, 42022 and 42020. I'll be getting everything but the pull-backs, eventually. Truly disappointed with 42022, even as a parts pack. 42028 and 42029 are great, however, and the Missus loves her little 42020. Here's a quick mid-build pic of the 42029. Edited August 16, 2014 by Trawler Man Quote
TimH Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 So far i've only brought the Arctic Ice Crawler (60033). I'll be getting The Pickup Truck, Snowmobile and Container Truck in the coming months. Quote
veryhappy Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I bought the sets 42023, 42022 and 42021. I also got 42020 as a gift Quote
Rockbrick Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) agreed ... the other factor might be that lego is typically (for me) a winter hobby ... summer is too nice to spend indoors. Will see what happens in the coming months. indeed lego is more a winter thing for me too - though with two young boys I leave the set buying up to them and I just end up with an unhealthy interest in bricklink before the winter starts proper after planning in my head in the summer Edited August 18, 2014 by Rockbrick Quote
Mats_o Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Got the 42030. Will maybe buy another one on discount. It contains lots of nice parts :) Quote
N-4K0 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 42029 and 42030 are the only 2014 sets that really tempt me. I plan to get the pickup truck, but I dunno about the loader. I might get the loader too, but it depends on what price I can get it for. Quote
TinkerBrick Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I got myself the Snow mobile and the Cargo plane earlier this year. And the twin rotor helicopter for adding a 3rd and 4th engine to the plane. I won't be buying the 2H/2014 sets. I got some parts from the customer service to build those for my existing inventory (the loader resides on my desk for 4 weeks now). Quote
JGW3000 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I need only about 12 parts to build 42029, in black of course, from my spare parts if I use unimog tires. So no new sets for me (yet). Quote
