LegoThomas Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Hey guys. I wanted to share my tower of orthanc with you. I added two floors and after saving up some money,i finally decided to complete the tower by giving him a back wall. Besides Helms Deep this is my second mod. I even have room to display it. ;-) Steps inside one of the added floors. Yes, the trap door is working. Inside of the other added floor. It was tricky, but i wanted to keep this room with all interior. Front Side Outside of the upper added floor. Balkony of the lower added floor. More spikes. Adding more height. Back wall and additonal pics: Sorry for the unprofessional pictures. Critics and comments are welcome. Edited August 14, 2014 by LegoThomas Quote
Lancethecat Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I've heard about people adding back walls to their Tower of Orthanc sets, but I've never seen anyone add extra floors before. Nice work! Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Nice but way too thin on how its tall.... Edited August 14, 2014 by Blazej_Holen Quote
Xcod119 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Neat design, so did you purchase the set again in order for parts or order them separately? Quote
LegoThomas Posted August 14, 2014 Author Posted August 14, 2014 I bought the set a second time. Unbelievably you cant build a complete tower with two sets. I ordered one brick seperatly. A 2x2 brick with inside corner. Quote
Missing Brick Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Nice work. I like the extra floors. Top 2 floors are a little cramped (I just made mine a solid block) but nice to keep the armoury display I guess. Quote
CastleDefender Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Awesome. I have seen people buying 2 sets and juz enough to build a back wall...Maybe u add an additional of 2 levels tats y it is not enough. Quote
SirBlake Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 This is so cool. Proportions look good and it's apparent that there are a thousand tiny decisions that got you to this point. Nice work! Quote
Robert_88 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Brilliant! The proportions are a lot more realistic now! Quote
LegoThomas Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Thanks guys. Brilliant! The proportions are a lot more realistic now! Besides giving the tower more height, this was my intention. The original wasn't satisfying my view on orthanc. Also this set is perfect for extending and changing the look. Awesome. I have seen people buying 2 sets and juz enough to build a back wall...Maybe u add an additional of 2 levels tats y it is not enough. It was just the 2x2 brick with inside corner. Nice work. I like the extra floors. Top 2 floors are a little cramped (I just made mine a solid block) but nice to keep the armoury display I guess. Your build was the one that inspired me. I loved it. The only things i wanted different were theses two levels. I wanted to keep them even though there are only two rows inside, but my son loves to play with the tower, so... Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 The extra floors are a great addition, apart from the backside! Keep up the great work! Quote
