Bart Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 When making a post, there is a button with a row of floppy symbols and the text 'My Media' (next to the smiley) clicking it brings me to 'Your Media Library' but how do I get files/pictures into the library to begin with? preferably files, I'd like to share an ldd file. pictures I used to use flickr but it's been taken over by yahoo which refuses to let me log on with my google account, which previous was fine. but I've an alternative for that. or do I need to become a knight before that option is fully available? then I suggest hiding the My Media button for those who can't do anything with it. Rick Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Because of space and bandwidth limitations, we don't allow users to upload content directly to EB, so you'll have to use image and/or other file hosting services. I doubt it's possible to hide the "My Media" button for certain user groups, but that's a question for the Admins. Quote
Bart Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 I understand the reasoning due to bandwith/space, but to be honest why is there a library to begin with then? Quote
Rick Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I understand the reasoning due to bandwith/space, but to be honest why is there a library to begin with then? It probably comes with the forum software we use, but we chose to disable it for regular members. We use it though, for front page images mostly. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) When you make a reply,if you click on More Reply Options then scroll down the page to the bottom you will see that you can Attach A File to your reply (100KB for regular users). This is generally used for making quick reply's with small LDD files, but be careful how you use it as you don not get much space. Edited August 17, 2014 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Rick Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 When you make a reply,if you click on More Reply Options then scroll down the page to the bottom you will see that you can Attach A File to your reply (size limit depends on rank). This is generally used for making quick reply's with small LDD files, but be careful how you use it as you don not get much space. The staff have been (re)discussing the issue of uploading files to EB. We now only allow the attachment of LDD files. All regular ranks have 100KB of total upload space available for this. For images and other files types, you still have to use external (image) hosting services. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I was aware of some changes going on,ah the good old days... Quote
Bart Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks for the information. I fully understand the reasons for not wanting pictures on eurobricks, it will suck up all the space, and there are plenty of other options out there. and 100k should be sufficient for LDD things, Bart Quote
