mccoyed Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Quinn is a woman who sees enterprise in chaos. As the lands of Roawia rip themselves apart under the malignant stewardship of Queen Galainir, Quinn returns to The Shade with her latest score. Not content to remain a lone gentlewoman thief forever, and with her name growing with her legend, Jackdaw Quinn begins to dream bigger than she ever dared before. She peers through the murk and shine of her uncertain, tumultuous future (just the way she likes it) and sees the beginnings of a real enterprise: a group of like-minded pick-pockets, tomb-raiders, and thieves of all calibers, working together under one banner, one purpose... hers! Of course, big ideas take big investment and didn't Quinn just hear, in this very tavern, that everybody in Garheim is too busy massacring each other to miss a few baubles? Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Awesome diorama! Is there a way you could lower cheese slopes so they are aligned wih the ground? Also what set is that raven from? Quote
Gunman Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Sweet mini bar there mccoyed! The plate witht the food is a nice touch. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 The way you have made the slope pattern is just great! Keep up the good work! Quote

The cheese mosaic is meant to be raised a little for a rug/carpet effect. Does it not look good? :( The raven comes from the CMF Series 12 (I think?) Scarecrow. It pops off the hat! Sweet mini bar there mccoyed! The plate witht the food is a nice touch. Thanks Gun. The way you have made the slope pattern is just great! Keep up the good work! Thanks, it's my first cheese slope mosaic, actually! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks, it's my first cheese slope mosaic, actually! Your first one? You did an amazing job at it then, I admire you for that! Quote
mccoyed Posted August 19, 2014 Author Posted August 19, 2014 Thanks but I can't take too much credit as I closely followed the Classic Castle tutorial. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Excellent character, mccoyed. The counter is a clever design and I like the barrel holder Sweet floor too, and I mean the whole floor, not just the cheese slope rug Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 It's a pretty decent little build but the use of the cheese slopes was a great idea. Quote
mccoyed Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 Nice job! Thank you. Excellent character, mccoyed. The counter is a clever design and I like the barrel holder Sweet floor too, and I mean the whole floor, not just the cheese slope rug Thanks SK. Glad you had a chance to take a look. I'm stoked about this character haha. Not enough thieves in LoR or GoH, if you ask me. It's a pretty decent little build but the use of the cheese slopes was a great idea. Thanks Be. Quote
Mike S Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 I love Kackdaw's character combo! Nice job on the build itself as well! I think however the "rug" itself would have looked better bordered entirely by flat bricks instead of the curved ones. Or perhaps lowered a bit so that the height difference between the floor and the rug wasn't as contrasted. But as I've worked with cheese slopes before, I know it can be a pain to get the desired height... Quote

I am definitely going to try it again sometime soon and see if I can find a better height. That said, I don't mind a subtle difference just because of the rug effect itself. I actually do like the texture of this build's floor as is but I'd like to do something similar on a larger scale because I suspect it'd look better. Thanks for the advice though. I definitely like to "talk shop" whenever I post a build! There's so much to learn and try. Quote
Mike S Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Haha "Kackdaw"! Oops... typo . Btw, the zigzag patern you made with the cheese slopes really does remind me of a rug. Quote
mccoyed Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 Oops... typo . Btw, the zigzag patern you made with the cheese slopes really does remind me of a rug. Hehe. Yeah, that's what I was going for. I played with some other designs but they didn't look right. Quote
Gary The Procrastinator Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Clever build and story. I'm on LoR, so got the references and yep, why fight for the Queen when you can just profit from her machinations! Quote
mccoyed Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Thanks Gary. I hope someday that Jackdaw Quinn can rob your character blind! Quote
