Posted August 19, 201410 yr well, im lurking around here for quite a while after coming back from my dark ages a few years ago. So its time to do a post with my first real MOC. So far I build only official sets, and did an RC MOD to the 8070 (which was the first Technic set since I was a child) I aquired plenty sets meanwhile (8070, 8110, 8043, 9396, 8275 and several small stuff) and managed to get my hand on a working 8475 (the RC Race Buggy). And I really wanted to do something with the RC unit. First plan was to do a KTM Xbow. but I figured the bodywork would be far above my current skills. then I saw the ford gtho from Doc_brown and really liked how he captured the bodywork with those panels. And I always liked the lines of those old musclecars. So I decided to build something similar, with the RC Unit and buggy motors as chassis, using the steering output as well. First part was wheel measurement and selection, which came down to the wheels of the 8285 to be the most fitting. Then I cannabalized all the panels I had from 8043 and 9396 to try around with the bodyworks... and after some bricklink orders I can show the first pics. Hardest part was to find a working and more or less good looking way to attach the roof. So far I am quite satisfied with the front and the front attachment of the roof... the back attachment of the roof needs much improvement, and yet I have no idea how to do the trunk and rear end ;) So I would really like hints for improvement ;) (yes the pics are bad quality, just made with my iphone since my camera seems broken and new did not yet arrive) hmm, why am I not allowed to post Pictures? August 19, 201410 yr Nice challenger you immediately recognize it i also love muscle cars and i have made a challenger too, Here is a link to my topic, maybe you can be inspired :p http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=88920 Good luck and it's nice to hear that you're MOC'ing
August 19, 201410 yr It's great, as @tibivi said, it is instantly recognizable as a challenger. The muscle car stripes on the hood are great. The hood itself is a bit too flat for a real car, but the main priority would be to have it be openable, so don't change it if you don't think it needs to happen
August 19, 201410 yr Author @ Jim: the forum gave me an error message that I am not allowed to post pics, now I edited the postig and it worked, strange.... @tibivi: thanks for the link, you had a nice idea to do the back part of the roof, I will try to adopt it ;) @anton: the hood doesnt need to be openable, the RC unites batteries are changed from the bottom. and under it is only the steering unit from the RC unit, no space to make a fake engine I still need to implement a hole for the antenna in the roof, but skipped that part until I am sure of the final position of the roof. and the hood of the real challenger is pretty flat, too. and its hard to make thos flat curves, in the proper colors ;) But I might try to change it...
August 19, 201410 yr @ Jim: the forum gave me an error message that I am not allowed to post pics, now I edited the postig and it worked, strange.... I've heard this before. Not sure what the cause was. Glad it's working now
August 21, 201410 yr Author any suggestions? in other models that are usually flex axles, but with the panel design of the chassis thats kinda hard... i thought it doesnt look to bad, and with the panels the whole chassis looks more ... complete currently thinking about inserting 2 black curved panels in the hood at the positions of the rally stripes, to make the hood a little curved, too. But at the moment I got no clue how to get them together ;) or maybe I will let the fake engine from the nitro intimidator stick out of the hood. Edited August 21, 201410 yr by Lighti
