"Join the Empire," they said.

"See the Galaxy," they said.

“Spend the better part of a day traveling through a city-sized salvage yard on an absurdly dangerous hover train,” they most certainly did not say.

And yet here we are.

We’re dispatched following reports of an explosion and fighting at one of the large salvage plants. Intel informs us that it appears a hover train has crashed into the building. Next, they let us know that we’ll have to ride a hover train in ourselves, as it’s too dangerous to land at the plant.

So, we head out; Romeo up front, Crash in the middle, and yours truly securing the aft; what choice do we have?

The bitter, stinging scent of chemicals is overpowering, despite the filters in our helmets. If I had any illusions about living through this war, I might be worried about cancer down the line. Instead, I just hang on through the sharp turns, not eager to meet any of the native fauna.

We reach the salvage plant eventually. The building has definitely seen fighting, but there's no sign of the combatants, and no sign of the bounty hunter.

I wonder if they'll upgrade us to first class for the trip back.

I really like how you've arranged all the junk and set up the barriers holding it away from the train. Looks very realistic. The dianoga is awesome as well.

Ah, yes, one of my favorite Star Wars themes. (Although it actually borrows heavily from a piece composed for Empire.)

Awesome little scene. it looks good!

Also, where did you get those brown little chain pieces from the first picture that's hanging down?

They're in 7670, as part of the hailfire droid.

WOW!

Perfect Ord Mantell flair and how you make it with lego is stunning.

Absolut beautiful work at the "scrape-wall" and the little eye at the ground is so great - love it!

I can only agree with the others, this MOC is a great representation of the junkyards of Ord Mantell.

My favorite detail here has to be the Mixel eye, it reminds me of this monster/creature in the Death Star in Episode IV.

Great Imperial entry here!

Thanks! I tried a bunch of different ideas for the junk, so I'm glad it turned out. That's really interesting about the soundtrack. I'm tempted to put the Empire soundtrack on a CD for an upcoming road trip ...

I really like your hover train! Sooo many details packed into the train track! Great job all around!

Thank you! As soon as I saw the possible locations for Ep VI, I knew I wanted to build the Ord Mantell hovertrain.

Thank you! The eye is indeed supposed to be a dianoga, like in the Death Star.

That's really interesting about the soundtrack.

Yeah, I went back and checked the movie, and the theme is kind of hard to notice in the rescue from Cloud City scene that it was written for. It doesn't play too loudly, and a lot of the dialogue and sound effects obscure that instantly recognizable fast rhythm. The theme is used in a more prominent fashion earlier in the movie during the Snowspeeder search for Luke and Han, fading in behind the sounds of Snowspeeder engines and being a lot easier to hear (at least in the 1980 version). The Snowspeeder scene was actually where I recognized the music from; I didn't even realize that it was used in the rescue from Cloud City scene until I went looking for it.

I'm tempted to put the Empire soundtrack on a CD for an upcoming road trip ...

Well between the various uses of the Imperial March theme and the Rebel Fleet/End Title piece, why would you not listen to the Empire soundtrack every chance you get?
