If we see them. it's like this Signs movie with mel gibson. We almost don't see the aliens during the whole movie.

If you look closely, towards the end when people are going on the ship, for a really breif moment, you can see something trying to tip over the ship. I went back slowly and paused it there and look like some kind of mechanical machine.

All I know is that I really have to see this movie. From what I see, the aliens arrive through lighting bolts and if that's true, that's a real dissapointment. In the book, the aliens arrived on "large bullets" and that would have made more exciting action scenes.

Then again, the movie doesn't seem to follow the book, as the time period can be seen but I hope the aliens are as close as possible to the book version. I don't want to spoil for those who haven't read the book, but the aliens were large heads with beaks, sort of like large chicken heads with no body and a whole lot of tenticles. They were also very hairy and unlike chickens, the eyes are facing the front like humans instead of being on the side.

What I don't get is how to the highways and all of the stuff just "fly". Some kind of force?

I can say is that Spielberg did an awesome job on the Jurassic Park Trilogy, the first movie is one of my all time favourite movies. Speaking of JP, anyone heard that Jurassic Park IV is in the works. It is rumoured that most of the animals will be marine reptiles, most will have feathers and the Spinosaurus and raptors are back and badder than ever.

Like I've said I really have to see this movie, I'm a big fan of action and science fiction movies and I really liked the recent movies involving "humanity's end", including Armaggedon, Deep Impact, The Core and The Day After Tomorrow. Great movies and I hope War of the Worlds will be even better.

The special effects look really well done, the imagery add to the dark feeling on the movie......Well, what less can we expect from a Master Filmaker like Spielberg ;)

I always kind of like those "the end of the world is coming" movies when they are treated right. In some of them, the US stereotype is so strong that you tend to laugh which is not really the right emotional effect (I give my life for the sake of humanity like in Independance Day & Armaggedon...). Hopfully there won't be a cheesy happy ending...

I really like the fact that you really don't see anything apart from the havoc created...it really adds to the darkness of the flick ;)

Yeah, I almost forgot about that. I mean the end of the world is coming, yet only the Americans are shown. It's the same with the Day After Tomorrow. A few clips were shown from India and I forgot what other countries but they never shown how the rest of the world survived, if they did survive. In fact it's like that in all the movies, The Core, Deep Impact, Armaggedon, etc. DAMN Americans! |-/

In WOTW trailer, we see (like in ID...) a lot of countries ravaged, but guess what guys, who survived? Could it be Uncle Sam :-D

I like that movie. I have it and watched it at least 3 or 4 times. It's halerious and it shows how dumb the Americans are.

They actually misplaced the genre in that movie: ID should be a comedy ;)

Why? here are some ex (if my recollection of the movie is OK):

* You can kill 100 people BUT you cannot kill a bloody DOG (tyhe whole scene where the dog runs for his life in the tunnel is just hilarious :-D )

* The scene where the president explained to his daughter the death of her mom :-D

* The sacrifice of the old crazy drunk guy who only flew old (as old as him ;) ) planes. No prblem, lets fly a fighter jet, its so similar (dhuu *wacko* ). Also when he died I had tears in my eyes- of laughter that is to say.

* Aliens are as dumb as Will Smith :-D

OK, I cant remember other scenes of this fantastic movie :-D

Well the Grand Canyon aircraft chase is great.... And do like Will Smith, he and great funny actor.. And the best thing in this movie.... Like Jamie Foxx Wun an Oscar for "Ray", so should Will Smith have done for "Ali".

And Funny fact, the silly professor who gets killed inside Area 51, is actuly that same actor that played "Data" in Star Trek :f)

Will smith did a great job playing the part of Ali and i agree that he should of got an oscar for the role, ah yes Brent Spinner was mr data and the prof in Independance day.

I really like the first Trailer because you didn't see Tom Cruse :-D , it just shows the havoc and stress of our planet being invaded.

The second is also really good, it goes deeper in the movie.

Offend them??? Haven't they offended the world enough??? I don't want to start another US is good/bad thread but let's take Canada and the US. The US blocked many things from Canada, including the fairly recent meat because of one case of mad cow disease in Canada. They also started searching every single Canadian that came into the US at the border after 911. Yet, when the US asked Canada to join for some missiles program, Canada rejected and the US got all pissed. Well f*** you US. If they block Canadian products and they don't trust Canadians, why should we give crap about them.

Basically, my point is that half of the US population is made up of stupid, lowlife idiots who don't give a megablock about anything except for themselves. (I'm talking about the half that voted for Bush). If I offended any American...well good because you are probably one of the idiots who voted for Bush. I'm pretty sure those smart Americans who know the real deal and are not brainwashed would agree with me.

I don't get offended by what people say about Romanians as long as it's true. Are they poor? Yes. Are they a third world country? No. Do they steal? Yes, they got to other countries and steal, Romania is full of BMWs and luxurious cars. I've read that there are actually 5 Maybachs (only the most expensive limo) in Romania. Is the government corrupt? Yes. But Romanians are smart. Do you know who are the smartest people in the US, Romanian students at Harvard who got scholarships. Only recently, I've read that 5 Romanians received scholarships to Harvard.

My final point, I dont get offended by what people say about Romania, as long as it's the truth. What I said about the US is true and therefore, Americans should not be offended. It's the truth.

All I can say is that it looks horrible. The special effects are ok but overall from the trailer, it looks so korny. It looks like a fan-made film but it will actually make it to the theaters (probably only in select ones).

Funny, I've just heard of the movie today and it's supposed to come out in a few weeks.

The original War of the Worlds movie had Martians who built "walker" type machines and use those to fight against our overmatched military forces. Later versions had those flying machines.
