This is good news:

BrickJournal Issue 8 is out and can be downloaded here.*click*

It contains the "normal stuff" like reports about events, building techniques and so on, but this time it has a special 14 pages report about the grand new market street 10190 set! *wub*

It

Hey! I wrote an article for this issue. It's on page 111. It's a review of the UCS AT-ST. I'm being a big show off!! *wacko*

Jeez, 12.4 MB. That's like four HOURS on my dial-up connection. They're seriously gonna have to reduce that filesize.

dear hincley if i ever had an article in that magazine i would be a HUGE show off! :-$

you should be proud!there is nothing wrong with being an important part of the community ;-)

with a very good article in a well respected magazine!

(heck im even proud a eurobricks member is so well known in the community!) :-P

Nice review hinckley! I thought I recognised your trademark use of Fabuland characters. ;-)

I loved all the Market Street stuff, I really really like this set. The interview with Erik was good, and I'm really happy they dedicated the issue to him.

captaintau: I've tried to download large files over dialup in the past, I feel your pain! Although I didn't think anyone still used dialup!

A nice review, especially adding the Fabuland figures really made it stand out :-)

..as for the rest of this issue I think it will have to wait, time to go to bed.

It is an excellent issue, especially the features on Market Street, even though it is saddened by the news. (I don't know the details of his illness so I will make no further comment on his death.)

On a positive note, I am very excited about the new RC power control system that will be in the Bulldozer, Ferris Wheel and the Godzilla. I am still a bit unclear about how the new connectors work, but I am glad to hear that they are compatible with the old motors.

September On!

I should also say that he did a layout = the Children's City article was done by him.

The review was a very pleasant change of pace for a review, and I would love to see more.

Thanks for the compliments about this issue - the Market Street articles and reviews were done by people in Europe and the US, and to be honest, I wasn't sure how was going to work out until the layouts were done Tuesday night.

And yes 12.4 meg is a big file. However, the only way to reduce this is to um...remove photos? The issue was split into 2 files to make things a little easier, but I understand your frustration.

And if anyone has an idea for an article, drop me a line - I'm always looking:-)

Joe

Editor, BrickJournal

PS I was notified of Eric's passing as I was finishing the issue. There wasn't enough time to write anything worth printing (and after two allniters, I was in no shape to write), so I requested Mel to add to her Last words at the end of the mag. We'll miss him.

Joe,

I have to say this is a great issue! I assume there will be some mention of Eric's passing in the next issue, and I know you can't always throw something in last minute...it was both sad and eerie to read a "new" interview with him.

Overall I think this is one of my favorite issues, mainly because it touches so many fields! I love space (and nnenn), I love castle (and those new crown knights), and I love customization. It seems like it just hit every field, and really echoed the voices of the hard-core fans of each.

I can't wait for the next one! And congrats, hinckley!

:'-) Thanks, S4J!

And there is a nice little letter to Eric in the closing of the magazine. Very last paragraph, last page...

This is a very good edition of BrickJournal.

I enjoyed the Market Street articles. I think this modular concept has a bright future.

And Mark (Hinckley39), I also enjoyed your article.

If was informative and funny at the same time!

Hi Joe!

Another great issue! Thanks a lot for two allniters - they really worked out. X-D

And I think it was a right decision not to comment on Eriks death in a hustle. Good way to save the very last words for him.

You are not really thinking of leaving out those beautiful photos, are you? ;-)

Please TLC, come on and give us the interior sets shown in that issue! :'-) *sing*

Eight On!

btw Joe: Would it be o.k. if I post some of the pics of BrickJournal (I

I'm still waiting for a print version!!! *wub*
