Artanis I Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 You only get a ticket for following too close AFTER you cause an accident because of it (I think the reason is it can be subjective until the accident proves you were objectively following too close). Probably true most of the time here too. Oh, the police here will give you tickets for the more "heinous" violations like running a red light, but most things (at least here in GA, USA) are add-ons. They won't pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt, but they'll add it on to your speeding ticket if they pull you over for that. Then they might add on malfunctioning lights and other stuff. They prefer the package deals then. Revenue or reward mustn't be worth the time spent on the other infringements I suppose. Quote
dr_spock Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 So here's a question...which ones do you prefer roundabouts or the usual intersections? I prefer roundabouts, because I hate waiting for lights and also an empty roundabut is good fun (testing the car's tyres ) I prefer the roundabouts. I get off work late at night and there is usually no traffic. I just zip through the roundabouts. Less wear and tear on the brakes unlike stop signs. Also I am not wasting gas waiting for the green light. Quote
Slickbricks Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Roundabouts are quite popular in New Zealand, depending on a city council's preferences some area's have more than others. I've never had any problem with them. There was also a recent episode of Mythbusters about roundabouts where they found they were more efficient than a four way stop intersection (this is what is popular in America seemingly). Quote
N-4K0 Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Yeah, the only rule in roundabouts (at least here) is that we have to stop for traffic from the left (with right-side driving). Simple and effective. Quote
Daniel-Technic Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 There is a roundabout near me, when coming in from trunk road A41, on a sharp curve to A road, some HGV come in too fast and going around and tip over on the side. 4 tesco lorrys, 2 tankers, bale hays lorry ( caught fire ) and bulk trailers. Also in foggy condition, the middle of roundabout end up like a car scrap heap  Daniel. Quote

Palathadric Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Lots of roundabouts here, but nobody knows how to use them so they build up more traffic than anything else. Quote
CrazyDalton777 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 I don't mind roundabouts but its when they put a tiny roundabout which is lower down than an average pathway in places that could do fine ithout them. Quote
samurai-turtle Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Their is two in Fort Wayne. That I can think of. I do not think they are on to busy of a road way. But their is talk of putting in more (it was on the news a couple of weeks ago). Quote
rollermonkey Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I grew up in Massachusetts which has plenty of them. I currently live near Seattle and they are starting to make an appearance here, although too many are poorly implemented, as they are afterthoughts. I like them, though for whatever that's worth.
