Mr Greeble Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 In response to your question Trunkbass, I did not send them an email, but I realized that it would be better to do that. (I'm doing it right now) Quote
Blakstone Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I think we might want to buy some FB ads to promote the petition. You can target by age as well as people both interested in LEGO and Lord of the Rings. Quote
Gremer Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I'm going to promote it on my other forum. Most aren't LEGO fans, but a majority are LotR fans, so we might get some signs from them. Quote
Geno Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 Lego, all you need to do is release a LotR Witch King for you to have my money. I will sign! Quote
Blazej_Holen Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I won't be signing. I don't like the LOTR line. So why are you here then? ;) Quote
Shroffy123 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 You know what is so great about Lego? If you want to recreate lotr scene you can do it with existing bricks and your imagination... not sure why people are in such a uproar. Quote

You can target by age as well as people both interested in LEGO and Lord of the Rings. That's something I also thought about, but how can we do this practically? Should I start a 'Donate to Paypal' campaign and use the money for ads on Facebook? Do you think there would be enough interest? It's 10 dollars do get 20 - 80 likes and it runs daily (so 10 dollars a day gets you 20-80 likes a day) until you end the ad campaign. You can also set a fixed date for it to end, so that if we would have a budget of 100 dollars before we start, we could run the campaign ten days for ten dollars a day and get 200 - 800 likes in total. Eurobrick members: is there animo for a Facebook ad campaign, possibly funded by a Paypal-donation system? Let me know what you think! You know what is so great about Lego? Yes, the locations and brick-built creatures aren't much of a problem. It's the minifigures and molds (like helmets, shields, hairpieces and molded creatures) that we're missing. SMC Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 ^ I think you much better off contracting all the people that run all the big sites and YouTube channels and try and get them to help but putting it on there font page, try and get it on the front page of this site as a start and I know Just2Good has a YouTube chaanel Quote
Zilcho Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I think running adverts would discredit our cause, it would make us seem too desperate. Idk though, maybe if lego sees us spending money to promote it they'll start thinking "we want that money" Quote

Sir Gareth Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 (edited) I suggest not petitioning for a third wave in general, but for a third wave of the sets we specifically want. I suggest the following sets: The Battle of Pelennor Fields - $129.99 Minas Tirith main gate, 2 outer wall segments, the Citadel, the White Tree, 2 inner wall segments (wall pieces and burps to save on piece count) Fellbeast, Witchking, Shadowfax, Gandalf the White, Gothmog, Denethor, Faramir, Pippin, 2x Mordor Orc Gondor Soldier Army - $29.99 Outer wall segment with trebuchet (adds on to Minas Tirith. Buying 2 is suggested) 3x Gondorian Soldier, Horse, 1x Rider of Rohan, 2x Armored Mordor Orc Mordor Orc Army - $39.99 Siege tower, trebuchet Armored Mordor Troll, 4x Armored Mordor Orc, Horse, 1x Rider of Rohan, 1x Rohirrim (The Real) Witch King Battle - $14.99 Scenery (grass and rocks) Witch King (Helmet + hood. Army build the 9 Nazgul), Eowyn (helmet + hair), Merry These sets cover most of the important remaining scenes and characters (except the Balrog and Treebeard.) Great suggestions! For greater visibility in the future, I suggest all people post their suggestions on the Facebook page. That way we can bundle our ideas and when (and if) we get a lot of votes or likes and we send the petition and Facebook page to LEGO, they can find our requests. Did everybody remember about the number of people who signed Ninjago petition? Good question! Is there anybody who knows this? Quote

How about I What if you create a LotR Wave 3 poll topic. Everyone could submit suggestions and vote for the best ideas. We could then put the best suggestions in the petition and send it to LEGO. Edit: I need to be a Knight to create poll topics. Edited August 30, 2014 by Wildspeaker Quote
dyntar Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I've bought every Lord of the Ring set apart from The Tower and i have multiples of most. Lord of the Rings has never been a theme for kids. Most of them are too young to have even seen the movies. Its Kids that Lego is aimed at. I'd say let it go.. Lord of the Rings has had its time. They released some great sets and great figures just appreciate what they did release. Quote

We already have a million set ideas in the Future LotR thread. Judging from it, I would say the top three ideas are a Gondor Army battle pack similar to the Uruk-hai/Mirkwood Elf Army sets, a Balrog set for around $40, and a big Witch King battle set with Eowyn, the Witch King, a molded Fel Beast, and any number of extras (Rohan Merry, Gondor Pippin, Denethor, Gothmog, Faramir if not in the Gondor Army set, extra Mordor Orcs and Gondor Soldiers, etc.) Quote
Dzoni90 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I expected much more votes so far. Can we get the frontpage on Eurobricks? Many eurobriks users maybe don't know about this petition. Quote
Trunkbass Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) I expected much more votes so far. Can we get the frontpage on Eurobricks? Many eurobriks users maybe don't know about this petition. Well, we almost have 500 votes and it has only been online for three days. That's not that bad, considering it has only been posted on 'niche'-forums (or small topics within forums) and stuff like that. Also, Facebook needs to get WAY more votes before it can work as a vote-booster, so if you haven't liked do it now. We need to get it to more mainstream sites or the frontpages of popular websites before it can get to 1000 or even more. To be frontpaged on Eurobricks would certainly help in my opinion. The greatest problem right now is visibility. Edited August 31, 2014 by Trunkbass Quote
atreyu2112 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Agreed. Nearly 500 in just a couple days by word of mouth is amazing. That speaks for itself. Imagine any of the major websites picked up on it? I tried emailing TheOneRing.net but never heard back. I don't even know if they got it. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I'm starting to think that this petition isn't going to work or do anything. I just hope that LEGO opens up their eyes and makes a few more LotR sets. I don't see why they don't do that since they'll be making quite the profit, from their view. Quote

Actually, I think that Lego is canceling the last LOTR sets because they *won't* be making that much of a profit, due to the slow sales of the second wave of LOTR, and probably the fact that many retailers had to clearance them and aren't very interested in more. I travel to many stores in large chains like target, Walmart, etc., and the LOTR/Hobbit sets are only shelved in some, not all. Quote
