Robert_88 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) I don't know if TLG is intersested in what people write in forums like eurobricks. I guess they are because what we write here is pretty honest. If they are they know very well that fans are upset about the way they handled this theme. Edited August 31, 2014 by Robert_88 Quote
Trunkbass Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) I don't know if TLG is intersested in what people write in forums like eurobricks. I guess they are because what we write here is pretty honest. If they are they know very well that fans are upset about the way they handled this theme. Indeed, that's what the petition is for. To make clear we are not glad (euphemism) with their decision and they didn't do the Middle-Earth theme the justice it deserves. Of course there is a slim chance that the petition will get us another wave, but there is a chance and it's better than nothing. Besides, the time it takes to respond on this forum that it won't matter or that you won't sign it because you don't see the benefits is exactly (or even more than) the time it takes to sign the petition and maybe make a difference. It just takes a mere 30 seconds to sign it and another 30 to share it with your friends. At the least they could tell us why they didn't give us Gondor, if we have enough votes to make a statement. In better scenario's we will get one last set or wave. I will not give up hope, at least I when all has ended I will feel that I have done something to try prevent the theme from ending instead of just being pessimistic or indifferent. Trunkbass Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) Agreed. Nearly 500 in just a couple days by word of mouth is amazing. That speaks for itself. Imagine any of the major websites picked up on it? I tried emailing TheOneRing.net but never heard back. I don't even know if they got it. Yes, I did the same with Lordofthebrick and Groovebricks, but to no avail for now... Maybe when we have 1000 votes, but it's going way too slow right now. Good news: we reached 500 votes today. Let's push this number even further! Sign and share the petition here, like us on Facebook here and share it with your friends! Edited August 31, 2014 by Trunkbass Quote
Pulp Detective Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Signed!!!Hope that Lego will hear it's fans and grant us atleast one more wave!!! Quote

Trunkbass Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) WHOAH, I was already wondering why the votes are "skyrocketing" (okay, that's a tad exaggerated, but still..) today: look which popular website posted our petition on their frontpage here ! I knew my french skills would come in handy some day thanks for the other users who also sent them an email, it worked! Edited August 31, 2014 by Trunkbass Quote

LegoThomas Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Lordofthebrick! I hope that pushes the petition. :-) Quote
SMC Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Yes, I thought about that. I'm trying some stuff out, but I might use something more iconic (like a huge Frodo with the ring) to reach more people. The characters on the picture can't be too small as well, so an army of undone characters like Faramir, Éowyn and the Witch-King is out of the question. Good work make sure you increase the target as we get near, I will give it a couple of days and then try the people I know again. Quote
Trunkbass Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Supported this noteworthy petition. Grazie mille! Lordofthebrick! I hope that pushes the petition. :-) Yep, let's hope for the best! Good work make sure you increase the target as we get near, I will give it a couple of days and then try the people I know again. Good idea, I will set it to 1500 when we reach 750-ish. Quote

LegoThomas Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Remember when we first saw the Orthanc designer video? I thought the tower is the greatest building ever made. At that time i was so amazed by the lotr line and i never thought a third wave wouldn't happen. Now it seems they gave up on us. Right now i have just rebuilded my Orthanc after moving. Some guy put it horizontal in a box and it just collapsed... Anyway lets push this forward and share the petition wherever we can. I think with the help of some major websites we can do it! Quote
atreyu2112 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Can anyone else email TheOneRing.net or message them on Facebook about the petition? I haven't heard back from them. If we can get that on the front page of that site... we will get a LOT more supporters! Quote
Jakon Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I sent them a message asking them to share it, hopefully they will. Quote
sahidko Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Almost 600 now, getting momentum i hope. :) Quote
Kraby Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Quick question out of curiosity: how do you think they control signatures? I mean, a friend of mine asked me to sign for him since he couldn't at the time, so it got me wondering. I know we have to put name / zipcode / email, but is there any verification around the email? My guess would be that the email needs to be real since they send a confirmation, but is that all? My point being, what is stopping people from signing for others (for example signing for everyone you know if you have their email), or even fake names? and most importantly, what could be the impact of such possibilities on how the petition is recieved in the end. I don't want once we've reached thousands of signatures, to read from TLG something like "yeah okay that's cool, you got your 10000 signatures, but a lot could be fake so too bad." I don't want once we've reached thousands of signatures, to read from TLG something like "yeah okay that's cool, you got your 10000 signatures, but a lot could be fake so too bad." This is a valid point. Firstly, yes everybody could sign for their friends if they would want to and the only verification that I know of is email. But, I would highly advise against it. The beauty of this petition is that so many of the voters are really passionate about the topic. Just read the top ten comments on the petition page. I wouldn't do it because there is indeed a chance that the petition will be ill-reveived in some way. However the impact of such 'cheating', if done, would be rather small I suppose. Especially if we ever get to 10 000 votes. Imagine if everybody on this forum were to be asked to sign for all their friends (with email ànd location). How many would go through the trouble? Five? Ten maybe? That would mean around 500 votes extra (maximum) on a total of 10 000. Not that much, or at least not enough to use as an excuse for dissing the petetion as a whole. However we will not cheat. Share the petition with as many people as you can. Once we reach a thousand votes we can push it to the next level with the help of even more websites hopefully. Almost 700 now, who-hoow! I love LordoftheBrick :-) Quote

Blakstone Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Does anyone already have a OneRing.net message board ID. They have a weekly message board round up and there is not that much traffic in their Gaming and Collecting forum. It should really gain some eyeballs that way. Quote

A member by the name of Elessar is interested in being sent all the details via private message and might look into getting it posted on the site's front page. http://newboards.theonering.net/forum/gforum/perl/gforum.cgi?guest=119769722&do%3Dpost_view_flat%3Bsb%3Dpost_time%3Bso%3DDESC%3Bpost%3D770509=View+Flat+Mode#770509 Quote
