Mikuri Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 What a funny ending for this thread hahahah xD! Quote
CptPJs Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'll definitely be getting some of these. I love anything with mad colours and tree houses. Quote
kabel Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Sure, there are some really interesting pieces in those sets, but it's going to be impossible to buy these in a normal shop without feeling totally embarassed! Quote
CptPJs Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 You're buying kids toys anyway, why get embarrassed because it's aimed at girls? Quote
Robert8 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Sure, there are some really interesting pieces in those sets, but it's going to be impossible to buy these in a normal shop without feeling totally embarassed! I know, right?! I'll have to punch a wall to regain my manliness after buying those You can say you're looking for a gift for your sister/daughter and ask for suggestions Quote
kabel Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Ever since coming back out of my dark ages I've been able to justify buying Lego because I let my kids play with my mocs. The problem is, I have two sons (5 and 8). And they are going to shun me if they find the minidolls in my collection hating friends as much as they do. Quote
robuko Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 41074 is that a fox mould? I am a huge fan of the tan Gothic arches in the cheap sets. Quote
Legonardo Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Purple! o.O I know what my lugbulk is gonna look like next year some really awesome colours here! Quote
Robert8 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 41074 is that a fox mould? I am a huge fan of the tan Gothic arches in the cheap sets. It looks like a fox to me And the smallest set has the new scissors piece! Quote
EvilBlackSheep Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I wasn't interested at all by this new line until i saw the leaked pics. Actually I can't care less bout the theme, yet I'm pretty excited by some parts, especially that green balcony fence piece! Quote
robuko Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Bet there's a lively staff discussion going on about where to put this theme now... Quote
gedren_y Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 If you are talking about that red animal, it is the existing Friends feline cub mold, used in the current Friends Jungle sets. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I hate to say it, but this looks like a better and more accurate World of Warcraft theme than what Megabloks produced. And call me crazy, but I think I kind of like it. There are tons of neat colors and parts and designs here. Stuff that I can really make use of. The sail alone... Plus I really really like the idea of a girl focused Fantasy Theme. I just wish it wasn't the creepy Minidolls. (We hateses the Minidolls yes we do! Hateseses them! They steals the precious...) Glad I'm not the only one who got a WoW vibe off these... Darkshore, Darnassus, Azuremyst Isle all share a lot of the colors among these sets, and there's even the boat to ferry you between those three locations Those fence pieces are awesome! There's a lot to like in some of architecture and pieces involved; if only they weren't mini-dolls. Quote
Blakstone Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I think this thread is in the correct forum. Fantasy belongs here and we don't have a separate minidoll forum. So Friends go in Town and Princess goes in Licensed. I don't mind sets that are targeted at girls. I buy them for friends and family. I just don't want minidolls in my collection. My 32 year old sister gets them. So if I buy these I would gift away a lot of pieces, to the point where it does not make sense to me to buy larger sets. Quote
ZCerberus Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Bet there's a lively staff discussion going on about where to put this theme now... Good guess... and true. Quote
deskp Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Good guess... and true. I would suggest a "minidoll" subforum on it's own. They have 3 diferent themes in 1 year! I think its worth it.. Consider its kindof unique. Edited September 15, 2014 by deskp Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I looked at the photos and am really drawn to some of the parts and color schemes. That 9.99 small set with the scissors, tan arches, golden wings, and other pieces is definitely on my radar. I have a niece, so she might be the recipient of the actual figures (minus the golden wings ). As for purple leaves, they too could be useful. Where I live, the redbud tree has a purple blossom to it in the spring. It certainly could be used for something like that. Quote
blarghiflargh Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Definitely interested in these new hairpieces. Quote
Bricknblue Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Once again the mini doll sets are amazing. Love the colors, the purple leaves are amazing. Quote
Dorayaki Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) To me the Elves sets are really great works. There are indeed some major features that historical themes and the previous two minidoll themes have been lacking, and these are not similiar with Belville at all. But just like the previous Disney theme, this wave mostly provide medium sets and there are no large sets. Hopefully we'll able to see a set named Elve's Castle. The minidoll variations are also pretty welldone, I believe these tons of new hairpieces would fit in some MOC lover's needs. FOLs can just collect all sets to have them. I always think the Sleepyhead works on minidolls, now here is it. And it's good to see a supposedly girls-oriented minidoll themes begin to use main male characters. But still, the general critics need to depend on the backstory. There is a major concern why LEGO just don't use Tinklebell as their license choice, so hopeully the backstory would be appealing enough. I'm not sure who Emily is. It looks like she is the second character from the official portrait and she uses Joanna's hairpiece in orange in the largest set. You can say you're looking for a gift for your sister/daughter and ask for suggestions Why? Just tell the others you're a proud FOL. Edited September 15, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote

It looks like she is the second character from the official portrait and she uses Joanna's hairpiece in orange in the largest set. I think you're right about Emily's identity. And I'll bet the human boy in 41074 is probably a friend or sibling. I think the reason for not using the Tinker Bell/Disney Fairies license is apparently DVD and merchandise sales have been declining. Two films in the franchise that were in development have been cancelled, and the MMOG released in 2008 closed last year. Even the Pixie Hollow attraction at Walt Disney World is apparently closed permanently as part of an ongoing expansion (which was originally going to include a new, larger Pixie Hollow area, but those plans were scrapped). I'm not saying the franchise hasn't been successful, but I think it's well past its peak and the LEGO Group would not have a lot to gain from seeking a license for it. Furthermore, it would not be that advantageous for the LEGO Group to make licensed products the majority of their girl-oriented product portfolio. They already have the Disney Princess license, but I think they stand to make more money on an in-house fantasy franchise like LEGO Ninjago where they have complete creative control and don't have to pay royalties. Ecclesiastes Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Why 4x3 leaves in purple?! We need those in Dark Green first! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'm tottaly sold on this theme. Great peacefull colorshemes, good topics for sets, great figures! I will have to fight myself to not get them all! Quote
Aanchir Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Why 4x3 leaves in purple?! We need those in Dark Green first! 41073 and 41074 also seem to include several in Bright Yellowish Green (Lime), so at least there will be one new color for them in this theme that will be versatile in real-world creations. Personally, I love the purple leaves, as they help to establish this as a fantasy world. Same goes for the purple mushrooms, golden acorns, and the gems growing on many of the plants and trees. Quote
Sarah Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Those are the worst boxes I've ever seen for a LEGO theme. Awful. They are gorgeous and make me wish I could see the pictures better! I would suggest a "minidoll" subforum on it's own. They have 3 diferent themes in 1 year! I think its worth it.. Consider its kindof unique. I'd have fewer forums to visit if there were a Minidoll forum! Because I do find myself more interested in the minidoll sets than the run of the mill stuff now. (except for Hobbit. And Train. And Winter Carousels...) OTOH I am attracted to more sets because I see them wading through these forums for the stuff I'm most interested in :) Edited September 15, 2014 by Sarah Quote
