Iria Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 That's one lazy bird. So, what do you think? Your flying pleasure craft is so clever! The design is very suitable for an inventor wind elf. I hadn't gave much consideration to buying the Creative Workshop before, but your MOC definitely encourages me to have another look at it. Thanks for sharing it. Quote
Velouria Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Lego could put this out as a little "pocket money" 5 euro set or something. There is nothing in this price range yet, but if this is a success I'm sure there will be. Quote
brickpreviews Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 That mesh up between the Friends set and Aira's creative workshop is amazing! Quote
Robert8 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Yup what Aanchir said, it is double sided! Here are some better pics with the Creative Workshop added on both sides. Wow! That's amazing! Quote
Velouria Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Gorgeous! I wish I had a place to put that! Quote
danth Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 This looks like one of the best and most exciting themes in a long time. Good thing they don't have regular minifigs or I would be forced to buy these. Quote

Good thing they don't have regular minifigs or I would be forced to buy these. Oh, you can still buy these. Just move their hairpiece to a regular minifig, if you dislike minidolls. Actually, I've grown fond of the Elves mini-dolls, despite their limitations. I love how detailed their designs are, and how unique they look. I still don't care for the bubbly Friends minidolls though. Quote
OmShanti Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Love this thread! This theme seemed so unpopular at first, but people have really warmed to it. So, after resisting the temptation of the LOTR sets for many years, I have finally come out of my dark ages and bought myself some lego. And it's the Elves theme that did it. I'm having difficulty explaining why I like it so much, but I'm in hook, line and sinker. Maturity and feminism be damned! The treehouse is my absolute favourite, so much going on with that one, lots of features, lots of details. I have adapted all the sets into a sort of small Elven village. Is it ok to post photos here? Same here Velouria. I had an interest in the LOTR collection, but resisted temptation to buy it. But when the Elves theme called out to me, I couldn't resist. I tried, but I failed. The fantasy element that drove me as a child; spoke to me in a way I cannot explain, and now I'm planning an Elves MOC of Elvendale. So of course I was delighted and intrigued to read that you've adapted a small Elven Village from the sets. I would love to see it, I do hope you get a chance to post photos sometime soon. Quote
refriedbeans Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 My Spa and Magical Fire came today! The Spa is incredible! The water streams are so well done and all the bottles and soaps are really nice details! I now have all 4 Elves (I don't know how I'll manage to sneakily buy the Tree house to get Emily) Quote

K4kitty Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Farrans crystal hollow finally arrived yesterday, so the girls and I built it, such a lovely set with beautiful pieces :) My twins are not quite four yet but they love this theme, and loved the show as well (found it on YouTube). Now to wait for the awesome summer sets... Quote
Velouria Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) all right then, time for some pics. I know enough about photography to realize that my photos aren't very good, unfortunately I don't have a good place to display my stuff, and the lighting is just awful. but it will have to do for now. Also...It appears that my struggle to not buy anything LOTR related has not been entirely successful... So, here's the bakery to the left, the treehouse in the middle and the hollow to the right. The nice thing about having an inter-dimensional gateway next to your house is that you get the most interesting people over for tea. I added some details to the back of the volcanic oven as it was a bit plain, and the tree bits from the Azari polybags I got were added to the existing trees. Also, extra bricks, and there were lots in these sets, were mostly added on. After moving some bobs and bits around the cooking facility of the tree house and the bakery set work together to make a lovely large kitchen. It seems ideal, with both a volcanic oven and a fresh water supply on hand. You can't cook without a knife, so they borrowed Sting from Frodo. There are plenty of red apples thanks to the 3 Azari polybags I got with all my purchases.... Why do the trees not catch fire? Magic! I added a little loft for Johnny Baker, a place where he can blow off steam after a long day of cooking and baking over hot lava! More later! Edited March 21, 2015 by Velouria Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) Love your setup, I'm saving to get another hideout,so soon I will post some pictures of my village too! Edited March 22, 2015 by Lordofdragonss Quote
OmShanti Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Nice arrangement Velouria. All the little extras you added are a nice touch. Looks like Johnny was busy baking those chocolate chip cookies Farran likes so much, he deserves a break in his little loft after all that hard work. I wish I had given in and bought some of the LOTR sets, because I'd love to have the elf hairs and mushroom bits. They would compliment the MOC I'm designing. I was considering some of the Hobbit sets for that purpose because LOTR sets are hard to find around here. Quote
Dorayaki Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Great alterations with the few Elves sets so far. Wish that I could get these sets anytime sooner. Quote
Velouria Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Some more pics :D I made a second loft up on the smaller of the Tree house's trees so Emily has a place to catch her breath after her surprising trip from an ordinary world-type world to Elvendale. Meanwhile, Naida is trying to keep the peace between Aira's bird and Farran's cat. It's good to know that the Elves' pets are as ill behaved as mine. There's a little back door between the crystal hollow and the inter-dimensional portal, and this is where Aira keeps her drawing board and tools. Quote

I love seeing other people's creations. It's fun to see how they'll utilize their Lego elements. Good luck with your savings. Quote
just2good Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) I'm loving the little community that's being built in this thread alone. All these setups look dope. Keep it up! Here's a look at the polybag set: This is a good polybag for the Elves theme! It expands upon the setup, though I wish the build was a little more interesting. I guess the Ninjago 2015 polybags got me spoiled. Either way, this set will make a pretty good parts pack for those who don't like the Elves theme and just want to have a little taste of it. Peppermint_M Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Built the ship today, some great building techniques included. It is a very well designed set. Quote
refriedbeans Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Was anyone able to find all the gold bricks in Farran's level of the app? I actually found eleven in Naida's but I can only find nine in Farran's Quote
Velouria Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Thanks for the review Just2Good! And I was unable to find the last brick in that level either, refriedbeans. Maybe they are playing with out feet (as they say here) Quote
Aanchir Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Was anyone able to find all the gold bricks in Farran's level of the app? I actually found eleven in Naida's but I can only find nine in Farran's Yeah, I got all of them. There was one gold brick that gave me trouble in that level — it was towards the top or bottom of the screen and you had to be zoomed in a very particular amount to see it. But not sure that's the same one giving you trouble, and it's been a while since I played the level so I don't remember the particulars of its location. Quote
Velouria Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I came across this review of a Lego boat I owned as a child http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=18895 I hope it is allowed to re-post one of the pictures here! Compare this to the Elves boat and marvel about how far we got. There are people who say the golden age of Lego is behind us, but I don't think so. One thing though, I haven't tried it, but I don't think the Elves boat is going to float. But that's not the point of it. Another thing, and it's probably not a popular opinion- I never liked minifigures. And I'm old enough to have played with the armless, faceless proto minifigures. I'm not in the slightest bit nostalgic about them, and the little Spacemen that followed. They were too generic, and too abstract. They got more personality as time went on, but I never got over their limitations. I honestly think the mini dolls are an improvement. Wish they had more articulation, though. As I am mildly pink-averse, I put the ship together with some blue parts replacing the pink. Also, I added red and green navigation lights as required under EU law. Love the ship, it fits all figures comfortably, it is sturdy, and it uses a cool studs to the side building technique for the bow. Quote
Lyichir Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Was anyone able to find all the gold bricks in Farran's level of the app? I actually found eleven in Naida's but I can only find nine in Farran's I'm missing one of them too, and have had no luck in finding it despite my brother's help. I'm using my iPhone 4S... I wonder if the level was designed with larger screens in mind? I need to do some Elves MOCing... but I need to finish my reviews, first. Of course, it'd also help if Lego Digital Designer updated with Elves parts (including the long overdue mini-doll parts). Edited March 23, 2015 by Lyichir Quote
