Guess we can lock that topic now, its a joke, nothing to be excited here, move along :P

Really a shame but afterall I did not really expect LEGO to terminate LOTR to make Elves..... that would be kinda hilarious.

Well, if it had been a new Castle/Fantasy theme, it's not like they actually would've "terminated" LOTR to get to it; more likely "the license is expiring and we won't have enough media support to produce a new wave, so let's just focus on a new non-licensed Castle theme and get some more bang for our buck on some of these elements"

Maybe this theme will be Keeblery, using the Christmas Elf hat as a springboard and making the elves rather Smurf-like... But if it's just a 3rd pink-saturated minidolls theme, probably an easy pass :def_shrug:

Okay, let's consolidate this a little. We had the list posted by Mesonak, taken from this source:

http://shop.swisstoy.ch/index.php?cPath=75_255&&page=all

We also had the list from David Thompsen, which he acquired from a NZ retailer. Mesonak's names were Google translated, because the source is in German. The German set names often are rather different and not just translations (there is a topic here, which names are the 'true' names? I would go with Danish... ). David's names should be the real English names, although there might be a spelling error (Aira vs. Aria).

Both lists had five items, but in total, there are six! So we have (prices are in USD, not a conversion but a speculation based on current set prices in USA vs. NZ):

41071 Arias Creative Workshop - $9.99

41072 Naidas Spa Secret - $19.99

41073 Naida's Adventure Ship (missing from David list, so unconfirmed name and no price)

41074 Azari & The Magic Bakery - $29.99

41075 Treetop Hideaway - $59.99

41076 Farran & The Crystal Hollow - $14.99

As the sets have 41xxx numbers (the numbering scheme for Friends and Disney Princess), I am certain they will be featuring minidolls and be aimed at girls! The set names are also in line with the 'girl' themes.

This could be really good. I'm hoping for a "wishing chair" vibe. I'm keeping an open mind on it and looking forward to some new colors and parts.

- the fact that there's no 2015 Friends rumor list yet

There is: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85699&st=500#entry1983624

Friends should get it's own sub forum.

I don't know about that. However, I don't think that the new Elves theme fits into the Historic Themes forum either. Maybe a Mod should try to figure out where to hold this discussion. If it stays here, I am afraid that many users who are interested in Friends (and Disney Princess for that matter) won't find this thread, which is certainly of great interest to them.

Well, this is disappointing. I was hoping for Fantasy Era style stuff. Not Friends stuff. Well, I hope TLG reads this and thinks: Most of the people here are hoping for a Castle Elf series, let's make them one! But that is most likely just a dream.

I don't mind, actually. The friends hair works on standard minifig heads, and I have no issue with fleshtones. This might be even better because there is the possibility that a wider range of elf ear tones may become available. I buy for parts, not sets, so what theme we get the elf parts in doesn't really matter to me. I also have no problem using pastel colors.

Ok so they sound like they are from the Friends line. but it doesn't mean it wont have some great parts and headpieces. We could have some buildings that are similar to the ones in Rivendell as long as they aren't all pink.

Brick fan announced on their site that these sets are aimed towards little girls and will contain mini dolls. That's great news for me hopefully Lord of the Rings isn't done yet. Not saying that it isn't, but I am not going to lose hope just yet.

Wow, that's a disappointment. I expected.. you know, elves.. and... not girly things! I'm sure we'll get some cool wings and hairpieces, maybe some new plants? I'm not really sure.

Dammit. I grow weary of disappointment.

Indeed. Lego why do you make me hate thee so much? They could never do High Fantasy elves justice and now this atrocity. Perhaps they will be good parts or chances at using new elf ears or hair but well disappointment is understated in this case. Then again what if one of the mini dolls wears a magic helmet lol. Just give me my elf mold helmet Lego!

Brickfan's source is this thread... so they know the same things we do and their 'announcement' doesn't add any more weight to that.

My bet would be that we should expect something like Disney Fairies. Not pink, but definitely nothing like fantasy elves.

Edit: LotR seems done for. I studied the list most of today leaks came from (the Swiss toy site) inside out, and while I found the four Hobbit sets we already knew about, there was no new LotR. No new generic castle either.

BTW, were did the name 'Elves' for this line come from? David mentioned

an entire range called 'Elves' or something

However, not one of the sets has the name 'elves' in it. Some of the translations from earlier today had, but those were from the German name 'Elfenversteck' which could just as well translate to 'Fairies Hideout'.

Maybe someone with more info could chime in here?

This is exciting! I've been saying for a while now that the LEGO Group's next foray into girl-oriented themes should be an in-house fantasy theme (I'm not at all fond of how sanitized and domestic the subject matter of the Disney Princess theme is — it lacks much of the sense of magic and adventure that characterized the movies it's based on). There's a lot of money in fantasy play for girls, as evidenced by the success of brands like My Little Pony and Monster High. Yet it's a genre that LEGO Friends itself can't really effectively touch on.

I wonder what age range these sets will be targeted at — hopefully the same age range as LEGO Friends or even slightly older. The Disney Princess sets appeared to be targeted at a slightly younger audience than LEGO Friends, and I was not thrilled with their design quality.

Wow, TLG seems to have really hit the jackpot with these minidolls, since this would potentially be the third theme to use them. I'm all for giving girls a variety of choice, too, although this line seems to be close to both Friends (with the "everyday life" sets) and Princesses (with the fantasy setting). We have to see if the similar girl's themes will compete or compliment each other in the end...

If this rumor is true, my question is why TLG didn't directly use Tinklebell license as a substitution, based on the fact TLC have introduced Disney sets instead of bringing original royalty themes (Belville and Duplo Castle princess's) back. It would be abit similiar with Winx's license from Cobi.

The possibility is that TLG want to make a girls-oriented version of Chima, which would come with an enclosed backstory and a new TV show to market. It's a risky choice, but generally more themes or girls is a good thing.

Still, the major debate is same with Friends: do TLG really focus on marketing girls-oriented themes along with other traditional major themes and try to overcome the difference of figures? If they just miss the mark again and again, I think they really waste the creativity of new themes.

Yeah. Since Disney stories have involved many different kinds of historical elements, it should have been a nice chance to get some historical or imaginary cultural buildings. Scottish castles from Brave for example. Edited by Dorayaki
