If theme does well, I'm hoping for some rally cars. That would be cool

And it should come with a new, better version of that old wheel bearing with springs.

We have some GBP prices for the Speed Champions sets, courtesy of Argos (search Speed Champions):

LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, 458 Italia GT2: £12.99 each

75911 McLaren-Mercedes Pit Stop £29.99

75912 Porsche 911 GT Finishing Line £39.99

75913 F14T and Scuderia Ferrari Truck £79.99

More expensive than I had anticipated if I'm honest, I expected the little cars to cost about £10 each. Oh well, I'm still purchasing them for my LEGO supercar garage even though they are not 100% accurate (before I properly got into LEGO, I had a hobby collecting model cars so I'm fussy about detail  ). I'm wondering how well they'll go with my more accurate minifig scale Bugatti Veyron and McLaren F1 MOC's...

Actually, that's not too bad. I think the smaller sets should go for $20-25 in US. Which is about Php900 here in the Philippines. Nice Price.

Though that'd mean the truck would go for Php5k. *gulp*

While I think they're gonna do the Veyron in Fig-scale, I think the McLaren F1 will be Advanced Models, quite like the Adv. Mod. F40.

A fig-scale Veyron would be pretty sweet.

on average RRP is £12.99 / $14.99 / €14.99, which is much better than the 20-25 number you are estimating. so my estimation is something like this:

LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, 458 Italia GT2: £12.99/ $14.99 / €14.99 each

75911 McLaren-Mercedes Pit Stop £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99

75912 Porsche 911 GT Finishing Line £39.99 / $49.99 / €49.99

75913 F14T and Scuderia Ferrari Truck £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99

AGAIN THE ABOVE PRICES ARE ESTIMATIONS, based on prices listed by Argos.

Those are still Nice Prices, right? OK, did some currency conversion from US$... the single car sets might hover at Php 700 at least. NP. 75912 (I want that) begins at Php2400. Of course, import fees and a few other niggles like sudden oil price blast-offs aren't part of the equation, but if 75913 is just Php4k converted... Nice Prices indeed.

Although...wait. Those prices seem to be a tad too low. Or maybe it's just to pull in customers?

If they ever make an Advanced Models McLaren F1 (perhaps even the GTR version), I will tell LEGO to take all my money for one. Well, I've been a passenger in a McLaren F1 GTR once, so a LEGO model of said car would have a real significance other than it's my second most favourite car and the fact that McLaren's Technology Centre isn't that far from where I live

As for my favourite car, the Veyron, I could see there being a minifig scale one in future waves, but going by the fact that all 8 of my diecast model Veyrons cost a fortune relative to their size (I could never find one made by any of the more mass-market diecast model car makers), I am willing to bet that getting a license with Bugatti is expensive (or at least it used to be) and a LEGO Veyron won't happen. Even if LEGO did negotiate a license, it will probably result in them producing a minifig scale version of the rumoured "Super-Veyron" rather than the infamous 2005 Veyron. But who knows?

And as for the prices, maybe they're not so bad on reflection, I just thought some of the models might be a little on the small side for the price points. But I think I need to see their piece counts and in the flesh before I can judge their value for money. And I do hope that this theme is more than a one-wave wonder, as there's an almost infinite amount of cars for them to create (you could get a couple more waves out of just Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche) (though I can't be sure this will get more than one wave, they share their section of set numbers with Scooby Doo and Jurassic World).

Cars...LEGO, cars in LEGO... possible Top Gear sub-line in LEGO...well, why not? I think this theme will last as long as there are awesome cars worth recreating, as long as there is F1, GT2 and GTE, Le Mans, and as long as there are manufacturers making supercars and want profit in more ways than one *stares at Ferrari*. And of course, UCS models. That 1-2 punch can do it absolutely. Edited by XAxles

As someone who collects die-cast models, I also noticed that. Well, Hot Wheels made a Veyron in 1/64 scale but that's now been discontinued and now....welll....it's SUPER expensive these days.

I also hope we get more than one wave. There really is a ton on cars they could do with this theme.

I am interested in the McLaren P1 and the McLaren F1 team set (I hate Porsches and dont really like Ferraris all that much so I wont be buying any of those) but if LEGO did a Lamborghini (regardless of size and cost) it would be "shut up and take my money". I am still kicking myself that I was never able to get the yellow Lamborghini from a while back (I do own the blue Lamborghini cop car though)

A Lotus would also be "shut up and take my money" :)

Yes way, it's true

Anyway, thinking over the contents of the sets again, I really kinda wish the Porsche 911 GT Finishing Line didn't come with two similar Porsches. Granted, they are slightly different in design (look at the front) and livery, but they're both Porsche 911 GT's and they look to have a very similar build. I really feel like it could have been an opportunity to throw something like a McLaren MP4-12C in along with one Porsche (McLaren only gets one road car when the others get at least two), rather than two Porsches. It just kind of looks very same-y to me. I'm sure anyone who's watched Top Gear knows the typical Clarkson joke that "all Porsche 911's look identical". So really, it's amazing LEGO managed to make the two Porsche 911 GT's only look very similar

Granted, they are slightly different in design (look at the front) and livery, but they're both Porsche 911 GT3's and they look to have a very similar build. Yeah, it's a bummer about the McLaren having just one road car to show, but I guess there were two 911's because the 911 racers have quite the cachet with car nuts, and has proven to be an amazing competitor in races where they appear (not that the 12C GT3 isn't a good race car). Sure, some can say that 911's are identical, but TLG had a good eye, though, and found the differences between the 997 RSR (three holes in front bumper, canards flanking L and R, quite obvious front splitter) and the 991 RSR (smooth bumper with only yellow circle bits, with just one rectangular hole in front) and translated it properly.

The orange one's a hybrid that raced in the Nurburgring and the white one has been dancing in Daytona and Le Mans since 2014. Unless those bits are in the instructions, no one would know them, and all they'd see as a difference is that one of them is labeled a hybrid and is part orange.

Hmm...this theme seemed to be no show in Huw's report. Maybe TLG is still negotiating with manufacturers as we speak and won't drop new models either from Aston or Mercedes or Ford or Nissan until Fall/Winter.

But I think Merc would be the more certain make. They've already gotten the heavy industries division, and I think their Autos and AMG division would come in more smoothly, with their SLS GT3 (may be a play set like 75911 or 12), Merc-AMG GT and either C63 Black or SL65 Black (as single sets, though the SL65 Black does not exist in AMG's website and the C63's fenders would mean TLG can get away with making a thick rear quarter).

Me. Also a minifig scaled one.

Ah, finally! Another person! This is what this topic badly needed.

Yes, you do want a UCS McLaren F1? With real working engine in actual colors found on engine bay lined with metallic gold tiles? Yes, that's how you want it, right?

Wait for another year, after Ferrari's turn.

Metallic gold tiles, yes.

I wouldn't worry much about this thread, I am sure it will be flooded with posts when the sets start appearing in stores or more cars are announced.

I'm personally more of a fan of BMW GT cars and the Lamborghini Aventador/Reventón. As far as Mclaren is concerned I would take the F1 GTR or even the MP4-12C over the P1 anyday.

top 5 cars I'd like to see in UCS form: 1965 Ford GT40, 1966 Lamborghini Miura, McLaren F1-GTR, Ferrari 330 P4, and the Porsche 917K (amazingly all of the cars listed have made their way to Private owners, and onto public roads. this includes 1 of the 4 Ferrari P4's)

I have been checking this thread daily, the lack of news however is what is keeping things so quiet here. At this point I am waiting on a release date, and planning which sets I’ll want first. :classic:

Found this today at Cologne Airport (EUR 13.90) - any others yet?

*SNIP*

You Sir, are now my Enemy! until i can get my hands on these myself that is  but that makes it official, its time to start watching stores, these are headed to shelves sooner rather than Later!

Posted

Its possible that it was put out early by mistake and there is an official "street date" before these sets are allowed to be sold (either set by LEGO or by the car makers)

Possibly they want these to appear when the racing season starts (because of the race cars in the line)
