XAxles Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 1. One type (98282) fits, the other one (50745) doesn't (the wheel seems to fit, but can't rotate): 2. The build is quite complex for a car, lots of brackets are used. Doors/sides and that ... back are probably the most interesting. 3. Oh, they have tons of useful applications : As they fit a stud on the inside, they actually are useful! Oh, that's too bad. But can the new arches accept old City-spec wheels? I saw that. Pretty wicked, if not a bit high. Then again, that has been the trend with auto design, with side windows getting smaller and such the higher the tier you go. Oh gawd the greebling that can be done with those hubcaps. Now, I'm gonna do a screen of the Porsche 911 racers set. There's that panning shot that just convinced me that TLG did make a 911 work and brilliantly. Still dissed that the woman isn't driving any of them--it would have made for a great Sabine Schmitz fig! Quote
XAxles Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 You know, I think they did a fine job with the 911. Quote

XAxles Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) In just-announced new-car news, ones that matter since TLG might just be getting these two, Ferrari will now replace the venerable, brilliant, beautiful and sexy 458 with this: They call it the 488 GTB, and it's got an exactly 3.9L turbocharged (*collective heavy breathing*) V8 redlining to 8,000 rpm (*heavier breathing*) pushing out 661 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. And it looks like that. It looks like a lot of stickers and/or bows, though I can see lots of different techniques springing out of this car, like, say, offset bows to shape the bonnet the way it's shaped. But then, none of us wouldn't be able to buy that car, you know. The only performance car that matters to us plebes is the new Ford Focus RS, which will, at last, come to North America. (Then again, this is Eurobricks, and there are EB members that have seen or owned the old Focus RS in Europe.) On tap is about 330 hp going to all four wheels, and it's got brake-based torque vectoring, which won't matter, because when was the last time TLG made a proper hatchback? Stay tuned to this stream for the reveal, as I also wait for confirmation on specs. Right now, only the 488 is the likelier candidate for the LEGO translation, but who knows? With WRC being the hotter series than F1 and hot hatches getting all the raves, it's about time TLG make actual hatches, with opening doors, trunk, and suspension. Or suspension, at least. XAxles Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Why do I feel this topic is turning into an episode of Top Gear ? Because of me, of course . When no one talks about the sets, I turn to what automakers are dropping. It's a way to get the this topic some more life, as well as keep the speculation train up and running, and because wallpapers. Besides, surely TLG is not limiting itself to just three automakers, and that there are many supercars that can become 6W cars. Give it time, at least until fall, when negotiations are done, Le Mans 2015 is over, and the F1 season is in full chat with what is shaping up to be a competitive grid.WAIT!!! The 2015-spec F1 cars! I haven't posted them! Oh, my negligence. Quote

XAxles Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Alright, then. the 2015 F1 grid, beginning with the car from the defending champion, the Mercedes W06: From Red Bull, the RB11, in camo: Then Williams-Martini FW37: Then the Ferrari S15-T, which has an Alfa Romeo logo on it, for some reason, and is shaping up to put Seb back on the top part of the podium: Now, the Lotus E23, on Mercedes power: Doing a throwback is Mclaren-Honda (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and their MP4-30: Force India VJM08 Sauber C34, which is just a white paintbrush away to becoming Old Williams and looks like just about them. I think. Edited February 3, 2015 by XAxles Quote
GallardoLU Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Last weekend I was at the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in Detroit. among the various cars in attendance was this rather successful beauty. I have many more pictures from the show, if anyone wants to see something just ask, I probably took a pic (if it was there) Contructors Champion NAIAS by kayjeb, on Flickr Quote

XAxles Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Good to see that the ferrari F1 is coming back :) And wicked. Seb's running the show like the old times, and Sauber, which is on Ferrari power, looked good on Jerez testing day 3. And it looks like all teams have redone the exhaust so the sound's proper schtuff again. Now, what big auto show usually drops every fall? Was it Paris? Quote
XAxles Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Oh, yes, race cars. I forgot the most important new race car this year: Blokes, meet the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo, and it's front-engine, front-wheel drive. The infographic above will tell everything else I'm too lazy to type. But what I'm going to put here is this bit from the Gizmag article, on the second link. And just to make it even more surreal, the exhaust vents from the turbos out the top of the engine cover right in front of the windscreen. Yeah, that's about it. If you can comprehend the whole car and what it's trying to be, ring me a line. Quote
GallardoLU Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 From the announcements I've read on it so far, the V6-TT motor is dedicated to the fronts as you have said, the electric power however is all-wheel drive. so the end result is a FF/E-AWD vehicle with a Front power bias. by far one of the most mental creations from NISSAN so far. the genius of this design though is that they can now focus tremendous down force over the front of the car and use most of the rest of the aero to reduce drag to its lowest possible levels (some will still be needed over the rears but nothing compared to what it would need as a FR or even a balanced AWD) there is a lot of skepticism right now though on the electric power numbers, many current teams are struggling to reach that kind of power, and they have been at this for longer than NISSAN (appears to have been) and the last point of interest those meaty 14" fronts. the stopping power of those should be quite a sight, late braking faster stopping and a very responsive FF bias on exits. my expectation hinging on them getting a total power output of 1250bhp is that this will be a tough car to beat in technical tracks, high-speed circuits will lead to the better racing battles as the completion (Audi, Peugeot, Porsche) can easily match the 200+ claims. You just typed what I lazed about typing.I am now seeing the WEC as the hotter racing series, so I think it's time that TLG go talk to the boffins running the tournament (Automobile Club d'I Quest) as well as the makes (well, except Porsche, of course) to get the series up and heard and seen some more. Actually, I think that this year's lineup for the main manufacturers' class (LMP1-Hybrid) can make for some amazing UCS sets. Then again, though, I'd rather see a UCS Mazda 787B, because 4-rotor Wankel engine mold. Quote

Today, I uploaded the video with all details. It is a wonderful model – not only for Formula One and Ferrari fans. I think, this truck could be in every Lego City. So, I would like to share my video with you. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me at any time. (The video is in German language) And 15 images of this set you can find here, if you like: http://ukonio.de/leg...rgalerie-52476/ Best wishes Edited February 15, 2015 by Zusammengebaut Quote

I could use some translating, but what surprise after going home from an out-of-town trip with practically no Internet access and ways to make noise first. But I don't think it'd be a good idea to have this truck lugging 'round Lego City, what with the crime rate, unless there's a Lego City Street Grand Prix every month. Makes me think though: Are there any other set besides this that you managed to spot and buy and can be reviewed? Oh, and blokes, caption this: Edited February 16, 2015 by XAxles Quote

GallardoLU Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) I just noticed the new fenders were used in the Town City Square a swell (dark bley)front of the Tow truck only good news is that it confirms we will not have to wait for more super cars to come out to get more fenders in different colors (also the tram front and rear windows are the new canopies from the P1, and LaFerrari) I'm all ready working on it :) The second car is the 1988 IMSA Nissan ZX-Turbo GTP Once I get a little bit better pictures, I'll get a post together on all the race cars I have done :) your GT-R LM looks great! I imagine yours is what mine would look like had I gone with a 6-wide. the ZX turbo is looking good too, but the GT-R steals the show. Link to my main thread: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=105606 also figure I should add a picture to this thread as well (ignore the white fenders I didn't have red at the time): Edited February 17, 2015 by GallardoLU Quote
