just2good Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Thank you ALL for the kind words! Alright, next up is the Finish Line... So overall, I totally dig this set! Great value for $50- both cars look very faithful to their real counterparts, the play set part has some awesome features and pieces, and the minifigures are satisfying yet simple. I just wish the cars had a better design on their front/radiator area... Quote
jimmynick Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm not very fond of the 918 since it looks really bulbous, but the 911s look really good. Thanks for the pictures, just2good! Quote
XAxles Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Good thing you applied the stickers on the white 911 RSR model, j2g. If done right, it should spell the beginning bit of Porsche Intelligent Performance when viewed up top. I am now convinced that this is the first set from the line that I will acquire, along with the LaFerrari. The way they shaped the doors to get the pumped quarters look that 911 GT3's are well-known, good livery choices (especially the white one), the fact that they repp'ed both the 997 (orange) and the 991 (white) types, the podium, even the figs...all winners for me. Though I'd modify the front bumpers, especially the white 991 RSR. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can you do a rear wing delete on both 911's? I feel that it's the true test for the model's accuracy. If they got the side profile bang-on without the wing, plus points! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks for another video review 'j2g'.......I'm impressed by the play features of this set but let down by no Australian flag sticker.....we do have races here Lego.......gee, Sir Jack would turn in his grave. Quote
XAxles Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 but let down by no Australian flag sticker Not even Germany, hell, even Philippines (then again, there's no famous race driver from the Philippines that is at the caliber of, say, Robert Kubica). The Aussi flag deserves to be in there, what with Webber and Ricciardo. Quote
alexsplanet Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 So many stickers! Yes, 45 stickers! Quote
RacerRabbit Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 There is a German flag, but you're right about no Austrailian flag. Quote
GallardoLU Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 ^ Racer is right, if you watch the video between 2:15, and 2:35 you can see several nations flags: Italy, USA, Germany, UK, Denmark, France, Russia and Spain Quote
just2good Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Thanks y'all for the feedback! It's a shame they didn't include more flags, but the amount of flags they have is still satisfying. This set is great! I love the design of LaFerrari, it retains the sleek look of the actual vehicle, and uses some clever new techniques, especially with the front. I just really don't like the stickers for the front lights, as they don't look too much like lights due to the color... Quote
escortmad79 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) Still not sure why this set is so damn expensive!! Sticker tax maybe? Edited February 23, 2015 by escortmad79 Quote
alexsplanet Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Still not sure why this set is so damn expensive!! Sticker tax maybe? May be :), but the set is quite big. Also I think that the reason could be in minifigs, because there are six of them. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Thanks for the latest video review 'j2g'.......I'm starting to want to collect this theme.......again after deciding I might not have the cash for it. Quote

DENMARK?! Y U no Finland? Thanks y'all for the feedback! It's a shame they didn't include more flags, but the amount of flags they have is still satisfying. This set is great! If you're gonna quote James May's review of the actual LaFerrari, what line would it be? Quote
just2good Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 If you're gonna quote James May's review of the actual LaFerrari, what line would it be? "Hello, I'm a British person." i don't watch Top Gear. Just a joke post, don't take it too seriously. :P Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 "Hello, I'm a British person." i don't watch Top Gear. Just a joke post, don't take it too seriously. :P What ? Not......"Oh, Cock !" Quote
XAxles Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I have borked everything. Stickerssssssssss Deal with it. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 You either love them or hate them, but I'm a sticker fan it sometimes helps sell the design as what it's meant to be......i.e. making a 911 look similar to a 911. Quote
jimmynick Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 I think the 911 would look like a 911 without the stickers. The LaFerrari and the 918, on the other hand... Quote

just2good Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Not......"Oh, Cock !" This is a nice looking interpretation of the P1! The only thing I don't like too much are the front stickers, but it's hard to actual make the front without new moulds. Edited February 24, 2015 by just2good Quote
XAxles Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) It's a good thing you now have the P1, j2g. I have specific instructions for you. Because now that you have all three models of the 918, P1, and LaF, and no one is looking at lowly Eurobricks, you can and must make the Top Gear Test Track in brick, and then film yourself while controlling the cars as they go 'round. As a guide: LaF has the best power-to-weight ratio, 918 has AWD and 4WS, and the P1 has torque fill with the hybrid system as well as a smart spoiler. And that they tested the P1 on Dunsfold. then go post it on YouTube as the final part of the review for all three. You're our only hope now, man. Be the hero and do the laps Ferrari is afraid of not being able to cheat just to make. I've checked every corner of my house, yours, the blokes in this thread, and EB Towers. I think the 911 would look like a 911 without the stickers. The LaFerrari and the 918, on the other hand... I beg to differ on LaFerrari. Well, it needs an extra stud of overhang up front, but I think they got the silhouette and distinguishing details. Edited February 25, 2015 by XAxles Quote
prateek Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Well, it needs an extra stud of overhang up front, but I think they got the silhouette and distinguishing details. Which is ironic since the McLaren P1 model seems to have an extra stud of overhang on the front. Hey just2good, which of the $15 sets is your favourite? Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Thanks for your latest review 'j2g'......hmm, I like that car even with a few flaws like studs showing etc., but those studs on the bonnet I can pose minifigs doing stunt work at high speed. Quote

Oh, how I wish I could do this... Hey just2good, which of the $15 sets is your favourite? I think the two Ferrari ones are my favorites! Thanks for your latest review 'j2g'...... Thanks for the feedback, LT! Alright, now this is the last of the $15 sets! The LEGO Ferrari 458 Italia GT is really smooth! I think it's one of the most accurate looking out of the $15 sets to the actual car it's based on. I also like the inclusion of the minifigure trophy in flat silver instead of a small build, because we've never had a set with that piece in that color. Quote
