ER0L Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 @Lightningtiger: Of course LT, that's what I meant by saying cost, or let's say cost/price ratio. A vehicle like the 7w+ "City vehicles for grown-ups" semi truck and trailer would probably be twice the price of the original set - not many people would be willing to pay that. On the other hand some years ago nobody would have thought that people would be willing to pay 150 Euros or US-Dollars for a Lego building in minifig scale ... @XAxles: Looks very nice indeed though it's an 8w+ vehicle (as I call it, meaning an 8w body plus mudguards) which might be too large for town purposes even though it's meant to be a wide sportscar. Maybe the right size will lie in the middle, as it often does ... Quote
XAxles Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Too European for my taste. Would of loved some 30s ford's. Hot rod and rat rod styled cars. Maybe a 50s style garage. Well, Ford's got the Mustang GT350 now. Chevy's got a C7 Corvette (and the C7.R) as well as the Z/28 Camaro. Dodge's got Hellcats and the Viper. Once TLG gets the licenses from them, who knows, maybe they can go as far as th 70's and even further. But as for hot rods? TLG has to do it themselves. The Technic Hot Rot (which, for me, looks like a Deuce-rod) is a good place to start. Quote

If you need something more hotrod then I suggest you pick up (if you haven't already) 10200: http://brickset.com/sets/10200-1/Custom-Car-Garage and lets hope Lego see's the need to give us an updated version sometime soon Quote
XAxles Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Now, to pump back some life in this thread, look at the Jaguar C-X75: This car is alive, really. In fact, Jag acknowledges this model in their website. And there's enough sites that got a chance to drive it that tells you that this car has the power to pounce on the 918 Spyder, it's supposed direct rival (at least for me), with just a "1.6L dual-boosted (turbocharged and supercharged) four-cylinder powerplant which generates 502 bhp at 10,000 rpm", coupled with "the highest torque and power density electric motors in production, which generate a further 390 horsepower". Dudes and dudettes, that's 892 hp. The 918's got 887 with a V8 and electrics. Dayum, right? But I just can't help but feel sorry for this car. It's a beautiful vehicle, one that is pretty understated and yet is very much inspired by the equally bonkers XJ220. It's powerful, has a classy interior, and can make you go nuts. There wouldn't have been just three hypercars; there would have been four. And it would have made a much easier 6W car. Too bad it got axed because Jag was too broke to continue with it. I just wish TLG get licenses from Jaguar-Land Rover. Then, they'd make this, the F-Type, and the XKR-S, as package deals. Well, a man can dream. Quote
Chills Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I am so psyched we are getting LEGO Porsches! But this line has a lot of potential. I haven't read this whole thread but I'm guessing there are a fair number of posts with suggestions for cars. Quote
Meiko Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 One thing I'm surprised nobody mentioned yet is that it sucks that the McLaren-Mercedes set is already out of date, since the team is now McLaren-Honda. :( Quote

GallardoLU Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Ah, but it starts in 2015 so maybe if the series does well we might get Honda F1 cars one day ? which could lead us to a Honda NSX (Acura for the US) I like that possibility Quote
Meiko Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 which could lead us to a Honda NSX (Acura for the US) I like that possibility I'd rather a BMW i8 lol but I see what you're saying. It'll definitely be interesting to see if the first wave does well leading to more automobile manufacturers becoming a part of the theme. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Well the designs of the sets would have been locked in maybe around late 2013/early 2014 so production of sticker sheets and any new parts could begin. So a Honda might still be a year or two away. Quote

So a Honda might still be a year or two away. It wouldn't take that long for LEGO to reproduce the stickers (or printing if the pieces were printed), as seen with the misspelled tile in the BTTF LEGO Ideas set. It'd take longer to secure any required licenses with Honda. Quote

True, I've had a funny feeling about Honda for years now.......about two years ago I had a Cuusoo project canned by Lego......it was a Honda bike dealership building. Quote
XAxles Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I'd rather have a BMW i8 Oh, yes, that. But I'd rather have the F80 M3, or the E92 M3 GT2. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I don't think we should post wishes for sets here, perhaps a moderator might start a wish list topic for Speed Champions. Quote
XAxles Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 In other car-related news, I present you the racing versions of the Hybrid Hypercar Trifecta! That's the 918 RSR above, and below is the P1 GTR: And, just two days ago, at last, Ferrari unveils the race-only version of the LaFerrari, the FXX-K. Yes, it's named the FXXK, and no, it's not missing a wing. Simply check this out. If I ever get a hand on the regular sets, I'd turn them into these cars, with the LaF being the easiest to do of the three. Of, course, that is until TLG gets ahead of me and make their renditions. EvMan Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Hola! I don't think we should post wishes for sets here, perhaps a moderator might start a wish list topic for Speed Champions. Would canned Cuusoo ideas and estimates of TLG's design and manufacturing timeframes be posted here or in the wish list thread? EvMan Quote

Ondra Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Rumour say that there will be exclusive Ferrari F40 with number 10248.So probably creator expert in scale 1:10 (Compared to mini cooper which is 1:11) .Cant wait to see how it turn to be in real life especially engine and bonnet. Quote

It's kind of surprising they're doing the F40 of all cars. It's certainly not a recent model, and if there are more geometrically-interesting older models as well. Quote

And now that you mentioned that, I am now waiting for that time when TLG is gonna make the 959 and the McLaren F1. If they did the Hybrid Hypercar Trifecta now, surely they can make their parents, can't they? Besides, I think the F1 is more legendary than the F40 (then again, the F40 is quite more memorable than the 959).Also, what supercar is below the 959, given that it's below the F40 and the F40's below the F1? Really?F40 is legend!True ferrari masterpiece for real drivers.Im very happy that they choose this car rather than laferrari or italia... Quote
Meiko Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I didn't say it wasn't iconic or a legend. It's just an odd choice on LEGO's part since it isn't a recent model like every other LEGO supercar set has been, and it isn't quite as old as things like the MINI Cooper or Volkswagon bus. I'm not complaining about them making a set of it. Quote
Ondra Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Main reason why they chooses old iconic cars is because they primary appeal to older buyers(Also not interesting in lego) that remember or dreamed these cars as kids or teenagers.Sure laferrari is new but afols maybe dont know about this car and for kids will be huge creator set unaccesible so they rather choose small laferrari set for kids. Nostalgia vibe is seen in markething for these cars so Im not too far from truth. Quote
