Would be good to include a poll to the thread, even if we can't list all colors we could have color-categories to get some statistics, e.g. by hue : black/greys/white/brown-tan/yellow-orange/red/purple-pink/blues/greens

Maybe also combine that with a second poll for color category (classic 80s color, sand-color, pastel/friends color, etc.)

For years I never really paid much attention to color per se. I grew up with the classic red, white and black palette with lessor selections of green, blue and yellow and tiny dashes of clear and gray. The colors were bright (if not downright garish) and very toy-like in coloring - they were inherently "fun" shades, like the basic 8 color crayon set I used to decorate the white woodwork and dull wallpaper of my home as a small child (much to my dad's displeasure). I usually looked right past the colors of the bricks themselves to see the model. I think that it was probably the 371 Sea Plane when I first started thinking, "hey look at all that blue…" rather than "hey, look at that plane"

Advance the clock a few decades and I found myself opening the biggest single box of LEGO I'd ever had (to date), the 3450 Statue of Liberty, boxes within boxes of Sand Green. It was my first large scale experience with a "mature" color, one that said "I am not a toy, I am an art supply. MOC with me…" I don't know if anyone would list it as their first choice for a favorite color, but for me it was an _important_ one. Sand Green changed the way I thought about the stuff I was building.

A year or two later the 7194 UCS Yoda Statue came out. It was a great set, not because of the subject matter, or the build, or the look if the finished product, but because it was a good sized kit made up almost entirely of non-traditional colors: more Sand Green, Tan (Brick Yellow), Earth Orange, Dark Orange. Ultimately, I think the model was a bit of failure because I wound up seeing a dozen of them on clearance at KB Toys for 75% off. That didn't bother me though, I seem to recall buying a dozen extra copies at KB Toys for 75% off...

While my username actually reflects the fact that most of my collection these days is some shade of gray (black, white, light stone gray, dark bley, etc…) some of the modern colors really resonate with me. I'm particularly fond of:

Dark Red

Tan

Earth Blue

Earth Green

Maersk Blue

I just never seem to have enough of them to do what I envision, but then, isn't that always the case with Lego and MOCs?

My first instinct was to say Olive Green, Medium Lavender, and Medium Nougat. Those are all fairly new colors, so maybe I'm just mostly attracted to novelty. Still, I'd really love to see a Medium Nougat modular.

Maersk blue, by far!

Yellowish green is also quite beautiful even though not really usable due to the limited part selection as of now and I'm growing more and more fond of dark green, dark orange and pear gold (yes indeed).

For versatility the basic tan is amazing - so many parts available in this color and at the same time it is presentable.

Gotta agree with Maersk blue.... I was lusting after that color for many years.... what with only a stingy assortment ever available in any Maersk set.

it was only because of Bricklink that I ever got a decent selection of Maersk blue.... and now with the color on the promotional Maersk sets switching to Medium Azure.... the Maersk blue parts will gradually be disappearing from online inventories..... :sceptic:

My Maersk blue REGINA MAERSK ship (the 0751 LEGO model design dates to 1959)... next to the fabulously expensive 1650 Maersk Line Container set....

Im in the process of making a large re-sorting of all my bricks and as so have often reflected that there are many new colors that are really nice , but also that i miss some of those who are gone (Maerk Blue and old brown as mentioned before) I like the earth toned down color scale, Sand red , Sand Blue and so on .. but Im really thankful that we have more brighter stuff like Lime and Meduim Azure to work with when MOC'ing.

My favorite color is definitely TAN, and is also one of the four colors i have most of ( bley light bley and white being the others in about the same volume)

Dark Tan is however a color that i often find myself buying on Bricklink.

I like the dark green alot and i was thrilled when it began to come in more shapes and more frequent in sets but nowadays find Olive Green more interesting to work with in MOC's

I have one piece (a small gear) that's i in the color "rust" in Bricklink's description, its the only pice I have in that color so its pretty useless, but I cant help wishing that I got more parts in that tone..

But i have have to choose only 3 colors to work with , Id stick to Tan, DK tan, and Olive Gren.

To my favorite accent colors, I've usually used light bluish gray, but am seeing new appeal in combining those darker colors with white or tan now. You can get some striking combinations of colors.

My problem is having enough parts in any particular color. I'm building a MOC using a lot of white brick, and running out. It's been challenging to find BrickLink sellers that have a big enough inventory. Even the bley color is becoming harder to find at a reasonable price (to me!) I spend a lot of time trying to find parts I can use at a reasonable price and in numbers I need from a single seller.

Not sure I have a favorite, but I like

Medium blue

Dark red

Tan

Caramel or flesh color

Dark Bley

Light Bley

Reddish brown

Too many to have a favorite, just mainly one of those depending on what I am working on.

I like dark tan very much!

Blue in general - medium blue for buildings - the rest is water

all kinds of green for foliage

I prefer the dark red color to the bright red one

both greys are good for mountain sloping and castle building

so its kinda difficult to say which is my favorite some are excellent for specific purposes, I wouldnt know how to use certain other colors - dont like yellow castles for example or the early pirate builds that had yellow bricks
