November 24, 201410 yr Those truss cranes (crawler type I presume) are rather boring I guess, lots of same pieces. I guess it depends on the complexity of the base... Anyhow, less suffering for my wallet :-) Edited November 24, 201410 yr by MajklSpajkl
November 24, 201410 yr I missed 8288 so this is good news. Also interesting is licensed mercedes truck, I cannot imagine why is there another license for I think medium size truck. This have big plus, mercedes trucks look great :-) . Maybe it will be garbage truck :-) . But licensed set are for flagships so maybe we get another mercedes benz flagship and that crane will be second with about 1000 pieces.I think this is possible, only crawler crane as flagship will be less apealing than fully functional truck.
November 24, 201410 yr Could a Mercedes-Benz Zetros crane with 6X6 offroad chassis be a reasonable possibility?
November 24, 201410 yr Remember guys we had a unimog with a crane on it a couple of years ago so I think it may be a tractor unit.
November 24, 201410 yr But unimog was very popular, next year is five year of lego unimog anniversary and also there is new generation of kids that need set of same concept.Unimog have everything, is big, sturdy, have great functions and suspension.Great for playability and showcase. Tractor unit is kinda boring, there is only one big tractor unit set and they put hook in it to make it playble.Maybe whole truck and trailer set will be interesting but I think this never happen.
November 24, 201410 yr I'd guess at custom Actros SLT (heavy-haulage). This is based on MB doing social media last year around the SLT and custom build: http://www.commercialmotor.com/big-lorry-blog/not-just-another-factory-tour-biglorryblog-reports http://www.commercialmotor.com/big-lorry-blog/its-big-its-heavy-its-euro-6-and-its-here-on-biglorryblog I can't see much play value in it though, unless it gets (yet another) knuckleboom crane. Or it's a smaller model (8109 or 8285 size) with a trailer. But I can't see AFOLs foaming much over a smaller set. The default value seems to be 'moar, moar, bigger bigger'. The Zetros would maybe have more play value. But if it was Unimog sized, the set would be (for my taste) huge, unwieldy and expensive. YMMV etc.
November 24, 201410 yr Or this I my city I can see something based on MB G with cherry picker, this will be also great set.
November 25, 201410 yr Those truss cranes (crawler type I presume) are rather boring I guess, lots of same pieces. I guess it depends on the complexity of the base... Anyhow, less suffering for my wallet :-) I agree... I guess it could be full rc similar to 8043.. I hope that the flagship this year has a bit more complexity in it's functions. The 42030 as big and impressive as it is to look at is quite basic in build and function.
November 25, 201410 yr A crawler crane would be awesome, but not in yellow :D. Edited November 25, 201410 yr by Freekysch
November 25, 201410 yr No more cranes ... please!!! And I'd like to add ... avoid RC for once. RC does not automatically make a model great. Lets see great functionality through manual means, with a little thought in the design to make it suitable for PF and RC upgrades later. On that note, how about a range of extras packs for PF and RC upgrades? Edited November 25, 201410 yr by Boulderer

The 42030 as big and impressive as it is to look at is quite basic in build and function. I don't think it will be full RC since there was a full RC last (this)( year - so in 20q5, if the pattern still holds, something big, but with just a motor or two for several functuions, is expected (pattern: 8043 RC, Unimog - PF, 4x4 Crawler RC, 42009 PF, 42030 RC,...) November 25, 201410 yr There have been good sets in the last years, even very good ones, but not awesome ones. So I will resign to something intricate but not jerky (Unimog and Volvo steering? ) Still my top three wishes are 8880 mk II, 8455 mk II and 8416 in 8043 flavor (bigger, full RC, chains instead of strings, etc)
November 25, 201410 yr I hope that lego doesnt change mind and release rebular set as flagship because I hate rc lego sets, they are overpriced, have less piece count so models mostly didnt have high level of details and every Rc model is slow or is having some kind of mechanism flaw. Also there isnt any kind of rechargeable battery box in size of regular technic BB and layout and there is problem with implatation of regular rechargeable BB .
November 25, 201410 yr And with new PF valves! Are electric valves in PF system even possible? Is still consider PF as kids thing that needs unnoficial tweaks to make it usable.
November 26, 201410 yr If we really are getting a new Mercedes truck, I hope it's a flagship tow truck with a single motor for all the functions. As for the excavator, I could see a wheeled excavator, but I think a tracked excavator would be too similar to the material handler from last year. Are electric valves in PF system even possible? Is still consider PF as kids thing that needs unnoficial tweaks to make it usable. Yes, it is possible to control pneumatic valves with PF elements. Several of us here have done it. My Case Steiger has PF and pneumatics:
November 26, 201410 yr Every year it's the same: people begging for new pneumatic parts. And every year they'll be disappointed
November 26, 201410 yr I would like a Metallic Silver car like 8070....would love some new Metallic Silver parts!
November 26, 201410 yr I would like a Metallic Silver car like 8070....would love some new Metallic Silver parts! Too expensive to make and too fragile... I doublt we will get any real chrome models anymore... Edited November 26, 201410 yr by Zblj
