January 27, 201510 yr I like the crnae, but not because it's a crane, but the parts... Hey a lot of blue parts... curved panels etc... And I think it's the "normal" clear blue not the ugly dark blue of 41999... I think you mean extremely ug amazing
January 27, 201510 yr It looks to be normal blue for sure and probably nicer than 41999 blue for a crane.
January 27, 201510 yr Uuuuuuu, I am in love, for sure I am going to buy it. The problem is where to display it
January 27, 201510 yr Yair, so it's designed for manual control, which means crane-body in hands of player. If it has motorised slew (eh, no idea), that means it can 'steer' by slewing - player grips body, tracks will rotate under it. Ha ha
January 27, 201510 yr I think one of the "gears" switches between "same direction" and "counter-opposite direction" for tracks.
January 27, 201510 yr Looks like a section of the boom can be removed. Check the parts attached with bush-pins and the diagonal black support inside.
January 27, 201510 yr The only thing that worries me is my wallet - the crane is just amazing - who cares if it's not realistic??? It's blue! Super cool!!! It's up to us to make it realistic, isn't it?
January 27, 201510 yr The crane have detachable one section so it can be lowered by (probably) 15 studs (as shown on "postage stamps" :)) And there is one PF motor.
January 27, 201510 yr I actually think that it might be possible that it can steer: On the foto you can only be sure that the left axle is driven by the 12 - 20 bevel combo. You can't see ( at least I can't.... ) if that same 12 - 20 also drives the right track. I think / hope it only drives the left track and that there is at the back end a similar constronction for driving the right track. In the center there seems to be more then enought room for a driving ring construction to switch between forward-backward and turning. The motorisation would then be a bit similar to the 42009 mobile crane. In the superstructure there would be - I gues - two driving rings that control four functions: 1 - operating the boom 2 - moving the grapper up and down 3 - rotating the superstructure 4 - "activating" the tracks: so it goes through the turntable and there you can control another driving ring for switching between forward-backward and turning
January 27, 201510 yr Crane looks very big. Is it possible it drives through a switch and not rc. As conchas says there slow in real life. Bring on 42043 next can't wait :)
January 27, 201510 yr I don't think it steers. There would be no need for the axle to go to both tracks, only one. I think we were lucky to get drive even if it is without steering, that was indeed a nice surprise.
January 27, 201510 yr If it is realy so big, it'll be not difficult to modify it and motorise everything in it.
January 27, 201510 yr The crane have detachable one section so it can be lowered by (probably) 15 studs (as shown on "postage stamps" :)) And there is one PF motor. What kind of motor, it think it will be L if there will be motorized tracks. And do you know some info about arocs?Does design of cabin change or not?
January 27, 201510 yr I've noticed that the crane features the same claw as 42006; even the stripy stickers are identical. Wonder if they'll change it for the final release?
January 27, 201510 yr Only one motor connected to the battery box and a lever to a gear box, so my guess is two powered functions, tilting the boom and raising/lowering the claw.
January 27, 201510 yr Crane looks good and - it's BLUE! But I dont understand why it has a claw instead of hook?
January 27, 201510 yr Hey look at this ;) https://twitter.com/...6968832/photo/1 Looks like a crane, a blue crane :) Pat That site say, that tommorow will be load of photos and info.
January 27, 201510 yr Crane looks good and - it's BLUE! But I dont understand why it has a claw instead of hook? A Clam shell grab would have been better it could then be rope operated.
January 27, 201510 yr I think we're being a little unrealisitic with our expectations. From the point of view of someone who doesn't know anything about crawler cranes, it looks pretty fantastic to me. And lets face it, Lego is made for kids, who most probably won't care that it's not 100% true to real life I don't think I'm being unrealistic. I mean, 8288 had a much more realistic looking boom, in spite of the fact that it is a smaller set. Also, Technic is designed specifically for realism, in fact it is one of the core tenets of the line. The people the buy Technic are mostly the ones that would care that it does not look right. What makes this even more annoying is that 42039 underwent a dramatic revision, and this set did not. So, they clearly had the time, but decided that 42039 wasn't ugly enough. Also, I'm wondering why sets have so many pins nowadays. Is it maybe so that they can inflate the part count, and jack up the price accordingly?
January 27, 201510 yr Crane looks good and - it's BLUE! But I dont understand why it has a claw instead of hook? Probably better for play factor
January 27, 201510 yr Probably better for play factor That's probably true, although it would be cool if they included a hook as well. Both tracks are driven by the same output, it clearly has an axle going to both front sprockets, and then an 8t-24t gear combo for reduction. Also, unlike previously reported, that boom ain't 1 meter long, unless they left out some sections for display purposes.
