aol000xw Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I honestly like the new Le mans Car looks over the preliminaries, but the name is dumb.Seriously, what the heck does 24 Hours Race Car even mean? Ps.I'm in LOVE with that 42038,so much ORANGE! It means it is a Le Mans car without the possible copyright issues Quote
Maaboo the Witch Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 It is not motorized from the box, but it is PF ready. So it is prepared and should include instructions to be motorized with 8293 Motor Set kit. I blooming well knew it! So I'm not going nuts. Cool! I guess it's for the crane, then. Quote
PROlego Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 It means it is a Le Mans car without the possible copyright issues Maybe the could call it racing prototype? Quote
swisstechnic Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) The crane on the arctic vehicle looked way better on the preliminary version, it had 2 actuators while the released version only has 1 and looks so lame and tiny... and why doesnt Lego never learns? whats the point having huge ~1000 pieces sets when it only has a couple of functions and not even motorized, didnt they learn nothing from 8274 and 8284? Hey Goldvillage Yeah I haven't focused on the crane, it's really weak. I'll have to build my own. But why "no" functions? I would be satisfied enough if it only had the four chains with suspension. Seems cool enough to me. (Which other sets combine suspension with functions? Except super cars) And about the motorized functions: I think everyone has some RC elements - we don't need hundreds of motors.. so you just have to figure out how to build them in.. maybe that's what TLG wants. aol000xw Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Maybe the could call it racing prototype? 24h and Le Mans are almost synonyms, there is no mistake in what type of car we are talking about, on the other hand I think racing prototype sounds too vague. So when are we getting pictures of the real deal in the wild, any fair or anything soon? Quote
miguev Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I think I'll spend most of my 2015 budget in Bricklink. I'll write my impressions down so that I can read them again by the end of 2015 :) 42035: Cute, I'll probably get my daughter one if she likes it. 42037: Nice, I'll put it in the list of "things friends can get me in lack of a better idea" 0:) 42031: Super cute! I'm sure I'll get my daughter one, I'm sure she'll enjoy lifting the crane. 42032: meh 42036: Very Disappointed. I was hoping for something innovative, but it just looks like 8051, only uglier! 42038: Looks really nice, but not much fun to play without a carpet floor. 42034: Cute but nothing special, already got the 2 pullbacks from 2013 and not feeling like having more. Wouldn't deny it to my daughter if she really wants it though. 42039: ¬¬ ('nuff said) Quote
Hrafn Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 From the perspective of someone who only buys sets for parts, 42038 is the winner for me if the price is right. Tons of orange panels, tons of black track links (and 12 black sprockets!), and it looks like 2 c-frame/ball joint assemblies. Maybe 42037 for the lime parts. 42035 is a good source for those new tires, and the model looks great, but I have plenty of yellow. I'm glad to see the range of colors they're using for 2015! My only regret is that while there are going to be a ton of medium blue panels now, there are almost no liftarms in that color. 42022 and 42036 each have 2 of the 7-3 bent liftarms - and that's it. Those wanting to build Gulf Oil-liveried GT40s and Porsches will have to use System parts as well, or leave their MOCs somewhat skeletal. Quote
radar92 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Well nothing in 1h jumps out at me. 42038 maybe for parts, I was really hoping for a larger 42032, broke my heart when I saw it was so small. I guess I'll have to wait for 2h. Quote
Ondra Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I was dissapointed with 42039 preliminary images, this set looked weird and unbalanced and Dokludi replica this confirmed. But final version is great and I cant wait to buy it.This is how can preliminary image can ruin a day :-D . Quote

Hi! i fully agree, everything shouldnt be motorized im not a huge fan of motors myself, but i dont see the point of making a set this big and it has only this few simple functions. (it should be the right model for right size imo ;) But i will give it a chance, after all it is a bit unique to say atleast...! Edited October 3, 2014 by GoldVillage Quote
Sato Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Are we sure these sets are all 1H 2015? Because there are 9 sets and this years total (1H & 2H) was 12 sets. (From 2009 to 2014 the average amount of Technic sets each year has been 11.) Quote
rollermonkey Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 It means it is a Le Mans car without the possible copyright issues Suzuka Circuit has a 24 hour race, too. Don't be so Eurocentric. Quote
Saberwing40k Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Can anyone explain why 42041 is a reissue? I can't think of any good reason for it to be. Edited October 4, 2014 by Saberwing40k Quote
Sato Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Wasn't widely available in every country I'd guess, And I remember it being a Limited Edition set. In the Netherlands I've only ever seen it go for outrages prices because it wasn't officially released here as far as I'm aware. @Rishab N, Your right. H2 usually consist of around three sets. Quote
andythenorth Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Most interesting technic line-up in a while IMO. As long as you like vehicles Good colour choices. Quote
aol000xw Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Suzuka Circuit has a 24 hour race, too. Don't be so Eurocentric. Le Mans is the oldest race, run for almost a century. Suzuka didn't exist 50 years ago. it's not about being Eurocentric it is about well earn recognition. There are many other 24h races like Dubai -not even 10 years old- but the reference is Le Mans and everyone understands what a "Le Mans car" is, but a Dubai or Suzuka car? Was 42041 a limited edition in the same sense 41999 was? Many people expect a non limited edition of 41999 but I don't see it coming, furthermore 41999 is for the most part 9398, which is still available. Do you think an unlimited edition at some point makes sense? That would be a lame way of lacking innovation. Quote

Do you think an unlimited edition at some point makes sense? That would be a lame way of lacking innovation. When it was the 8041, you could get it pretty much everywhere here in the US... I know I ordered a bunch of them from Toys R Us when they were running buy 2 get one free... After a few years of that set's release, Lego was selling them for $34.99 and it took a few days for them to sell out.... It's not a bad set, but it doesn't do much other than steer and work the V8 engine... It's a good parts set... The re-release of this set doesn't make much sense to me unless Lego had a ton of parts for that set used that they needed to move... On an unrelated note, I can only assume that Lego is still sitting on a large quantity of #3 LBG connectors seeing as how yellow ones would have looked better in this model, much like red ones would have done a better job in the front of the 42029... dhc6twinotter Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Wow....42039 looks no where near as good as the preliminary photos. I'm a sucker for green parts though, so I'll probably buy it. It will probably be the only 1H set I will get. Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Uh why does the dump truck have a 1 cylinder engine beside the cab? Quote
PROlego Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Well, it's not realistic but it's a fun function for kids to play with. Quote
Maaboo the Witch Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Uh why does the dump truck have a 1 cylinder engine beside the cab? I think it looks cool. Not enough smaller sets have engines if you ask me. Quote
GoldVillage Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Uh why does the dump truck have a 1 cylinder engine beside the cab? Probably because it maybe has something to do with the alternate model - it could be a 1 cylinder chain driven go-kart ;) (im just speculating here) but whatever the reason might be i agree with the other poster, it does looks cool. N-4K0 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I think the dump truck looks awesome for the scale. I'll get it, mostly for the new yellow panels. Quote
