Richard Dower Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Lego won't produce anything related with the army. ok...but why not emergency service vehicles?.....they've done it before....8289 etc., but we have not seen such a vehicle in many years now? no voilence attached to them, not directly....they save lives etc. i just dont get why they dont do them?....they range of functions you could add to them is great for kids! Ondra Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 So agents or ninjago is great example how lego really abide rules of no violence law. When it is not realistic then it is killing OK...Also lego movie is pretty violent. Mobile crane is 219 USD if Mercedes is 230 USD I cant hardly imagine what it will be at this price point.Another unimog or zetros is one of possibility. But I cant wait to see first info or photo. True but we kind of had one this year in 42020 it was a rescue heli. A remake of 8289 would be nice though. Edited December 24, 2014 by LEGOMAN132 Quote
Ondra Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 What is 4289, brickset doesnt find any set by this number. Quote
just2good Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) Just to clarify something, the name showed up as "Technic Mercedes-" and was cut off, so it might be something like Mercedes-Benz. Not sure. Edited December 23, 2014 by just2good Quote

aol000xw Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 The Volvo front Loader is clearly "yellow heavy machinery", the Unimog not so much. So how does the Volvo franchise relate to the Mercedes one in Lego Terms? I don't expect the new Mercedes to be anything in the "yellow heavy machinery". Quote

Boulderer Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Mercedes-Amg? http://en.wikipedia....ki/Mercedes-AMG Too similar to the 24 hour race car, I think. Quote
Ondra Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Not this http://image.motortrend.com/f/roadtests/trucks/1311_2014_mercedes_benz_g63_amg_6x6_first_drive/62764866/2014-mercedes-benz-g63-amg-6x6-front-three-quarters.jpg Quote
Boulderer Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Ah yes ... the 6x6. That would be different enough from the 24 hour car Quote
sm 01 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 We're getting a $230 USD Mercedes Technic set in Summer 2015. No other info at this time. I'm trying to retain my excitement about this rumor as much as I can, to avoid possibility of disappoint, but I'm only an afol and I don't know how much longer I can fight it. Quote

Resistance is futile. Also expectations in this thread tend to skyrocket so disappointment is unavoidable, just not another 42039 fiasco please Quote
Ondra Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 230 USD set must be great as hell, or I dont know why I must pay that price. Quote

By the time we see the first photos, these expectations will turn into a big hungry monster - I wouldn't want to be TLG then. Edited December 23, 2014 by sm 01 Quote
aol000xw Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) 230 USD set must be great as hell, or I dont know why I must pay that price. Well from what I know in the lasts years profits in % have increased over % revenue so that's why. They are lowering costs without lowering prices or they are increasing margins by charging more per brick.Unrelated to Technic but http://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news-room/2014/november/lego-speed-champions As they are expanding franchises we can now fantasize about a McLaren 8880 successor. Ondra Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) If I remember corectly mercedes doesnt have contract with Mclaren anymore. Price is ok if set is great with innovations, not this million times seen mechanism as in le mans car. Edited December 23, 2014 by Ondra Quote
Meatman Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Does the 42039 have a release date yet? I see a seller on Ebay from Germany has been selling them and claims to have them in hand. Quote
efferman Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 An official lego catalogue says march for 42039 Quote
Rishab N Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I doubt it will be a supercar due to the existence of the Le Mans car. I would think somewhere along the lines of a Zetros or a variant of the unimog (due to the 8110's success) Quote
davidmull Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Please let it be pneumatic with some new pneumatic parts, auto valves and longer cylinders :) dream come through. I'm thinking something in the line of 8258 but bigger with pneumatics. Quote
maras Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 Cant believe how cheap the 42038 Arctic Truck is Quote
rollermonkey Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) it's not far out of 42009 territory. Yes... It sort of is, two years later down the road. Sets are getting more expensive for smaller parts counts. You're suggesting a bigger set at a similar price. Heck, the Volvo was a LOT less pieces for $250. (Yeah, yeah, PF, I know.) It was half the number of parts suggested (@3000) and $20 more. Edited December 24, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
Ondra Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 But Volvo has more pieces(Plus one big shovel) and wide variety of PFmotors than last RC technic sets.Maybe there is also license fee, who knows. Quote
aminnich Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 In the Volvo, I believe it was the power functions that made it so expensive. When I was debating on buying it, i totaled up the cost for the pf alone and it was almost half of the cost. so it was the pf that made it so expensive for the smaller part count Quote
