Omikron Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Maybe they'll go in the direction City sets was going some years ago; dumbing it down. Maybe the entire cabin (or maybe the grille area) ಠ_ಠ Quote
1974 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I've actually seen that piece used in a rather decent Technic MOC Quote
gevans12 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Hey guys, you do realise it's an ACTROS truck don't you not an arocs or arcos etc... Quote

aminnich Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Look on BRICKSHELF!!! dokludi made a replica of the acros!!! Hope it is accurate!! Quote
Rishab N Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Wow I have no idea how he does it http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=552005 Quote
aminnich Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 He does a lot of great replicas. With his building past for new models, I am sure this is exact, except for the other new pieces that no one has. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 He does a lot of great replicas. With his building past for new models, I am sure this is exact, except for the other new pieces that no one has. His knack for recreating models is impressive, but this probably isn't even 50% close to being built how the actual model is.. He is only working off of the same pic that the rest of us have seen and has no idea what kind of chassis this model is working off of... It is all speculations at this point... Quote
aminnich Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 ok ok, it gives you idea of what it looks like. I was just a little excited to finally see a picture of what it could look like. Quote
Bad Brett Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Since everyone is talking about the grill, I decided to make my own: Maybe I'll try something like this on the real model. Quote
aminnich Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I really like thus compared to the other one. It is more detailed. Lots of little parts. Quote
Omikron Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 People at TLG probably are looking at those community prototypes and think "Wow, those things look even better than ours" Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 People at TLG probably are looking at those community prototypes and think "Wow, those things look even better than ours" I highly doubt it... The designers at Lego are working under a completely different set of rules than any of us are... There is no doubt in my mind that they could blow anyone away if they were allowed to step outside of their required limitations, especially since they have the resources at their disposal that the rest of us do not... XAxles Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Since everyone is talking about the grill, I decided to make my own: Maybe I'll try something like this on the real model. Ace work, actually. Could be NPU of the year. Quote

Yep. That's why the "exclusive" sets are usually much more detailed. One thing that bothers me with the Arocs is that it seems to be pretty much the same set as the Unimog. More wheels and a tipper instead of a winch, but otherwise it's pretty much the same deal. Quote

I'm curious about their rules, can you please mention some? Quote
Bricktrain Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Number of parts they are allowed to use, number of new elements, cost of parts, where can they reduce costs, they are a few. Then the model is tested with a target group. Quote
Ondra Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Wow I have no idea how he does it http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=552005 He must be wizard, this is impossible to make working replica based on blurry preliminary picture in short amount of time.So suspension and dual wheels are possible, I hope lego make this details too. Hey guys, you do realise it's an ACTROS truck don't you not an arocs or arcos etc... You probably dont know more informations about mercedes trucks.Iam right? Edited January 18, 2015 by Ondra Quote
davidmull Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Good attempt looks about 50% the same. The Lego one looks better tho and more detailed and also has new pneumatic parts. Quote
Freekysch Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Hmm, if that is how the actual truck will look I must say I am a little dissapointed. I was hopeing for more details on the cab, like 8258 had. But, many thx for the replica ! Edited January 18, 2015 by Freekysch Quote
rm8 Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I am afraid, 42043 will be without suspension. Every 2-3 years we see repeating of models. 42043 is "new look" of 8258 and 8285, which was also flagmans. LEGO designer move forward slow and evolutionally: we see new parts that improve our constructions: new wheel hubs, new absorbers, new panels, new gearboxes and pins. Revolutions are rare, last was when we got power functions system in 2007. 42043 is the model that will give us new pneumatic cylinders and some other less important parts. But I will be glad to see suspension here. Quote

And not just any kind of suspension, if TLG can do it. It could be just the kind that'd make quite a lot of other builds that need a certain amount of travel work and work brilliantly. Quote

It looks same as seen on preliminary picture, not 50% .Is logical that replica doesnt have parts that are not relleased yet..? Quote
