therealjustin Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) I'm more in awe of Dokludi's abilities than the model itself but it doesn't look bad. New panels/beams in silver would have been killer though. Edited January 18, 2015 by therealjustin Quote
PROlego Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 If the set was like the replica but with the new parts I think I will buy it. Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Everything cool about Dokludis replica, except the front lights - they look weird, I hope thet the real thing has different lights. Quote
Ondra Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Everything cool about Dokludis replica, except the front lights - they look weird, I hope thet the real thing has different lights. Nope it is same as preliminary, even with that lights. Quote
davidmull Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Nope it is same as preliminary, even with that lights. I think the official looks better to be honest with the proper lights and Merc logo. Also crane looks a lot better on Lego version. Maybe 50% was a bit low I'd say 65%. I just hope the tipping is also pneumatic. But it's doubtful. Quote
m0dulo Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 It's not an actros that's a tractor unit. Actros is "the new benchmark for long distance transport." :) http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedkingdom/mpc/mpc_unitedkingdom_website/en/home_mpc/truck/home/new_trucks/model_range/new_actros/New_Actros.flash.html Quote
andythenorth Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Dokludi has mad replica-building skills, but the disappointment I now feel about this set is simply unmeasurable. Quote

Maybe you have different preliminary photo, but Dokludi made everything to make it almost as in preliminary photo. There are some new parts, that he logically doesnt have but this is normal.Maybe his replica is more sophisticated than lego, who knows. Also I hope he will try that crane, only problem I see, that there is lens flare on crane arm. Dokludi has mad replica-building skills, but the disappointment I now feel about this set is simply unmeasurable. I still hope that this is preliminary version, Im not so happy with overall look of set.I hope there will be some interesting building techniques and functions that satisfy 200€ purchase.Crane is must buy, white-blue scheme is greatest decision by designers. Jockos Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) It's interesting that there are a lot of white set in the recent time (from 2013), and looks like the black scheme isn't as popular as the white. Edited January 18, 2015 by Jockos Quote
Ondra Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I think black colour kill some details and it looks bad on box.And also I think black is not popular among kids Quote
MrTekneex Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 A possible lack of suspension will not make me change the judgment of the model: I love it! Quote
davidmull Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 A possible lack of suspension will not make me change the judgment of the model: I love it! Totally agree people are too hung up on it. And it's obvious it has when u see how high it is. People are forgetting about the new pneumatic parts and that's what it's all about. Were years waiting for longer cylinders. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I'm hoping they don't go for partially manual stabilisers, I hope they opt for a similar design to the 42009 crane from two years ago. Quote
KLF Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 I'm curious if there will be a B-model. :) I hope for Mercedes G but I guess that I'm just a dreamer. ;) Quote

allanp Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 This is going to be a milestone set with or without suspension or double rear wheels. I hope it has those things but I'll buy it whatever. Imagine all the new doors this has opened, like a flagship backhoe with those pneumatics! or small forklifts and so on. It's sets like this that sparks imagination and I could go on gushing over it but I will say that I'm a little concerned over the look of the front of it. It'll be the dominant thing on the front of the box. This model is way superior to 42030 (which had a different goal so not a knock to the designer/s) but 42030 had it's best feature, it's huge front bucket dominate the front of the box, so it looked cool for the kiddies. Such a great model as the Arocs deserves some killer box art, not a copy/past onto a template. Perhaps a more side on view than usual for recent years to show more of the truck and the arm, like 8868. I also don't think the usual black background is going to help the white and grey colour scheme. Quote

See Effermans or mine or the one Kevin posted some days ago... And I think the B model won't be a licensed product... Pat Quote

Pat-Ard Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 The 8110 B was "just" a snow plow and yes David you are right with the 42030. I forget the Volvos everytime, because I never built it... Quote
allanp Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) B-model will probably be this: As much as we have all been asking for more white, do guys think that in this particular case, with the large rear bed being all grey, that they should go with a different colour like orange or ever silver champion silver? That would look epic! Also, though it doesn't need suspension to be great, the gap between the arches are larger than the picture shown above for scale. Edited January 18, 2015 by allanp Quote
XAxles Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) B-model will probably be this: Do want that as B-model. Edited January 18, 2015 by XAxles Quote
aminnich Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 The LEGO designers basically have to do something like that. They need to do some Mercedes and they will want to use all the wheels that are in the A model. So a hook lift truck does seem reasonable, but I see one problem for you pneumatic guys, where will it all go.... With the hooklift truck, sure one or two cylinders will be used for the lift, but that is all that it will use. And the lift might not even be pneumatics, it could be LAs. No one knows (ok maybe one person does). So if this is the B model, then it might be a let down for some of us. Quote
allanp Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Two long pneumatics for the lift, one medium one with the telescopic piece to extend it and it's an accurate representation of the real thing. Perfect! Some people have mentioned that the bed on the A-model might tip. I see no indication that it does but if it does that just an added bonus. I'm also pretty certain it has dual rear wheels. The front axle looks to be very slim, I can't see hardly any of it despite the quite high ground clearance. You would expect to see the lower beam but I can't see it. Usually creating live axle suspension at this scale and to TLGs standard can be problematic. A new set up involving new parts maybe to make it more like the real Mercedes like they did with the Unimog perhaps? Edited January 18, 2015 by allanp Quote

Long is in the telescopic third section (distance between pneumatic inlets is too big). Second long piece in the first section (behind the cabin). And small one open claws. Quote
allanp Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Oh sorry, I was talking about how a hook lift version could be made for the B model. But yeah, after doing some pixel counting the telescoping cylinder appears to be 3 studs longer than the standard size. The other ram that bends the arm also appears to be longer than the standard size though maybe not as long as the longest. I think there may actually be 3 new sizes with the current size not being used at all. The fact that it says Pneumatics 2.0 might support the idea that the whole system has been completely redesigned, valves included. But this is pure speculation at this point. Quote
