1974 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 A doohickey? Will it be studless? Good thing Jim has gone to sleep, haha Quote
gevans12 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Has the brickset report been published yet? I thought it was due at 930? Quote
chubays Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) I am sorry for asking again! I saw about August, but in what country and city will it be available first? Edited January 20, 2015 by chubays Quote
1974 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 It has, look up thread Now, about that doohickey, that surely must be the most important thing in this whole caboodle! I'm waiting for the Duke to make his mark ... Quote
allanp Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Oh for sure it's just about the most important doohickey since sliced whatsit'sname. Quote
Balrog Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Since I learned the word doohickey, I can describe EVERYTHING. Quote
1974 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Ok, everybody but me are too silly, let's get back to those two sets : What functions might be in the crawler? It's got a motor + batterybox, does it have a a gearbox? If not, it would be rather boring Cool function would be extension of the track Quote

Raisable cabin? Quote

Would be cool if there was two drive rings, one for each pulley, so you you could control both at once in either direction. Also a third for superstructure. Edited January 20, 2015 by allanp Quote
1974 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Raisable cabin? That would be cool, I need to use my magnifying glass on that and get back to ya ... Quote
Rishab N Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Does anyone know who the designer of the MB set is? I'm guessing Uwe Wabra as he usually makes the trucks in this scale Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I'm guessing Uwe Wabra as he usually makes the trucks in this scale Well if it is I do hope the crane can lift more that the crane on the 8258. Quote
1974 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 It's a beefy looking crane, so I bet yes And yeah, all prior attemps have been futile Quote
Ondra Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 From brickset Technic 42040 Fire Plane (£45, 578 pieces) - A white with red seaplane, maybe 30cm wingspan whose single propeller turns as it's pushed along the ground. It comes with trans blue 2x2 round bricks that can be ejected onto a fire below. 42042 Crawler Crane (£110, 1401 pieces) - a very large and impressive motorised crane which, refreshingly, is blue and not yellow. The boom must have been 1m long. 42043 Mercedes Benz Arocs 3245 (£170, 2793 pieces) - A stunning vehicle featuring power functions and pneumatics. The cab is white, the tipper grey. It has a pneumatically controlled red arm with an opening scoop at the end. The arm has a new rack housing at the end of it that solves the problem of it being too thick when brick built. It comes with a large motor, 4 pneumatic cylinders, a blue pump cylinder and 4 valve controls. There are three types of cylinder which might all be new. On the box they are labelled as 2/11, 1/11 and 1/5. The 2/11 is, presumably, 11 units long and 2 wide, the 1/11 was 1 unit wide and, well, you can guess the other one. The Mercedes logo is printed on a 2x2 boat stud. The alternative model, a flatbed truck, looks as good as the main one. This was easily the 'best in show' as far as I'm concerned. Quote

Can't wait to check out the new style drive rings for gearboxes! Hate the way the old ones had a double click. The new ones have a single click. Quote
1974 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 (edited) Oh, Ondra .. time for another beer! So that plane is a lot bigger and have more parts than thought Crawler Crane does _not_ have a 1M lattice boom unless the prelim pic totally wrong Luvly info on the 'pumps' .. so only one pneumatic pump and still no airtanks? Hmmm Not sure, only one pump is new though Edited January 20, 2015 by 1974 Quote
gevans12 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Almost 2800 pieces.i know it's guna b the biggest technic set by piece count, but isn't it getting close to the largest set ever made by lego or am I wrong there? I do hope the clamshell grab pieces are a decent size n quality, there's been a real need for this type of grab for a while n I hope they don't disappoint! Quote
Conor Hyland Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Almost 2800 pieces.i know it's guna b the biggest technic set by piece count, but isn't it getting close to the largest set ever made by lego or am I wrong there? Nope, it doesn't even come close. The biggest set ever made by TLG is 10189 Taj Mahal, with 5922 pieces. Quote
allanp Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 So, two of the new sizes are only 1 stud wide? That seems strange. Quote
Milan Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Really strange. 11L cylinder would bend too much if it is only 1 stud wide. But it would be nice to have them. Quote
Conor Hyland Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 From the bad images we have of the box, they look like 2 studs wide, but that person on brickset must have better images than we do. Nice detail coming through about it though. Keep it coming! Quote
gevans12 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Nope, it doesn't even come close. The biggest set ever made by TLG is 10189 Taj Mahal, with 5922 pieces. Ahh thank you! Quote
Conor Hyland Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Imagine what you could do with a few 11L cyclinders. One would make a sweet excavator out of 4 of them, that's for sure. Quote
gevans12 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I have a feeling both TLG and bricklink would sell out of 11L cylinders shortly after the set is released as everyone scrambles to update all their old cylinders with the new ones Quote
