zux Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I just came a cross a interesting thing on a toy store, seems we are getting parts packs again? I now feel old. http://mytoyshop.com...-technic?page=2 According to used numbering it is probably Educational service packs. You can check BL, lots of them (100+) have been added recently. Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Redeemed for what? For let us wait new pneumatics since 1638.... Quote
Ondra Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Huw tell some new info about arocs on technicbricks. There will be suspensions, but pendular .Not bad at all! The pump cylinder looked much the same as the old ones from what I could tell from the box. It may well be a new size and if so would be a 1/5 in the new nomenclature. I'm not sure if the rack housing was used for the outriggers (of which there are two), it's possible. The four front wheels steer proportionately and the rear pair of axles seemed to be connected as a bogie, mounted in the centre. At least that's as much as I could tell when I lifted up the front to gauge its weight. So, not suspension per se but the body can be rocked side-to-side on them. OK, so the crawler lattice boom might not be 1m in length but it was certainly long and impressive. The fire plane is a single propeller driven sea plane with two floats, much like this one http://www.zenithair.com/stolch701/7-photo-floats06.html. It was predominately white with red accents and stickers. The ailerons moved and I suspect the tail flap did too but I didn't witness that. Size-wise I'd say it was about the same as 8836 Sky Ranger. Ondra Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I posted that info today two pages back. Oh I miss this, no wait for info about dual wheels and I will be happy! Quote
Rishab N Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I like the sound of this crawler crane. Seems like it's going to be an expensive year Quote
1974 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Oh I miss this, no wait for info about dual wheels and I will be happy! I think Huw would have mentioned if there we're dual rearwheels Would it even be doable with a dif in the middle? I presume this model has a fake engine, right? Quote

I presume this model has a fake engine, right? He dont even mention suspension before, suspension and dual wheels are details that are popular only in diehard technic world.I found this on mercedes benz arocs website. Single wheels are also realistic, so this is now minor detail but welcome. Edited January 21, 2015 by Ondra Quote
D3K Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Single wheels are also realistic, so this is now minor detail but welcome. I believe that is only an option for the cement mixer Arocs.. wrote about this about ten pages ago Quote

aminnich Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) So what do u think, If we get dual wheels-no suspension It we gets suspension - no dual wheels That is what I think Edited January 21, 2015 by aminnich Quote
andythenorth Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Would it even be doable with a dif in the middle? I presume this model has a fake engine, right? Yeah doable, 8285 Tow Truck is dual, with old style diff. Seems to me that TLG designers also have made it easy to add duals on some of the recent trucks that only have singles - keeping chassis narrow and clear of obstructions, and designing axle that can be reconfigured for two wheels. Dunno, but I'd guess some prototypes are built dual, and then stripped back at market-readiness stage. Quote
D3K Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I found this on arocs grounder website. So yes it is also for tipper. Did it say anywhere in text that tipper can be delivered with single rear tyres? Link? I found that image on the Grounder page only to illustrate the "reinforced 2nd rear axle stabilizers". For the Loader model, it clearly states "10 t hypoid rear axle for single tyres with 385/65 R22.5 wide-base tyres (concrete mixer only)" Quote

1974 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I think you're right, Andy Ondra, thanks for the pic. Are those wheels independant, or on the same bogie? It's not clear to me .. ETA ; prototypes are allways a load more awesome than production sets. Just look at that SPIII truck Quote
davidmull Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Iv never seen a European truck with singles on the rear. Only if one axle is a lift axle but the other drive axle has doubles. Quote

ETA ; prototypes are allways a load more awesome than production sets. Just look at that SPIII truck I dont know, I saw some movies and it looks like to be on same boogie.I found this on british actros grounder configuration site The Gross Vehicle Weight is made up of the weights of the vehicle, including equipment, body and maximum payload. Meaning of the drive configuration 8x4/4: 8 = Number of wheels/wheel pairs 4 = Driven wheels/wheel pairs 4 = Steered wheels (1st + 2nd front axles) Quote
jantjeuh Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 I would prefer dual wheels but I can totally understand if TLG goes for single wheels due to cost restrictions (all that extra weight and rubber can't be cheap?). Easy enough to add them yourself afterwards. Quote
andythenorth Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Hmm, frankly, at £170 for a non-RC, single motor set, I expect a free unicorn to be included. If there aren't double tyres, the reasons will be easy to understand (cost control), but a bit irritating. Unless the chassis is built from Maersk-blue liftarms, in which case they should double the price not the tyres. Quote

Corvette3 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 at will likely cost much more in Australia... its rare a set will be less than 10 parts per dollar. Quote
Balrog Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Iv never seen a European truck with singles on the rear. Only if one axle is a lift axle but the other drive axle has doubles. Usually, trucks that have a clear purpose of off-road use usually have single wheels on all axles. But afaik that is the only exception apart from liftable axle or steerable axle. Quote

mahjqa Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 It's still Lego. Don't like it? Modify it. Adding those extra wheels would be at the expense of other parts, like the pneumatics or other new parts. Quote
