Saberwing40k Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 What about the Mercedes Benc Arocs??? Not displayed??? The pic of the crane was an early leak, apparently. The Fair officially starts tomorrow, and it should be displayed, along with the elusive fire plane set. I can't wait. Quote
D3K Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 That crane looks quite ugly....must of been the same designer who designed the motorization of the 9396 tow-truck. Yeah, they definitely had an ugly-motorization-designer, he must now have been bumped up to designing large cranes... On a less sarcastic note, I absolutely love the crane! It's huge, but not in a 42039 kind of way, where most of it is just empty space.. Well, technically, I suppose the boom is pretty full of empty space (is that even a legal sentence?), and I would have liked too see a more truss-like design of it, but the whole package still looks pretty damn impressive! Got to love that blue colour scheme! Quote
Emmi Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The pic of the crane was an early leak, apparently. The Fair officially starts tomorrow, and it should be displayed, along with the elusive fire plane set. I can't wait. I hope so, can't wait to see the flagship of 2015 and of course the fire plane. The Crawler Crane is day one purchase for me, AWESOME!!!!! is only word that describes my feels about this set - but my wallet :( Let's face it, Lego Technic 2h 2015 sets are ALL day one purchase for me, they are so great, can't remember last time when I considered buying three Technic sets in 2h :) Quote
Emmi Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) :) http://t.co/fhUJY8xb9B ... and the fire plane??? video still not working, how long will it take Edited January 27, 2015 by Emmi Quote
ZitterdBricks Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 ... and the fire plane??? video still not working, how long will it take I have really no idea... It's not my video. I found it on Twitter, hence the t.co link. Quote
designer-han Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I really think the designer did a good job in the reality look of the crane. Yeah, the boom has empty spaces, but I am sure that was done on purpose. As I have some experiences with designing a crawler crane, the most challenging aspect of such a crane is finding the right balance on weight of the boom and the counter weight whereof the designer has to deal with the current turntable that is to small for this kind of applications. That is why the boom has exactly this size and why it is so empty as it is, and is not further extended. So I fully convinced that there are not sections left in this picture. Be aware that if the boom is lowered much more, the more momentum is applied on the superstructure.... What might result in tipping of the whole crane. Given the fact that the target area is kids, this crane is designed on the safe side given the above. And the color scheme is just gorgeous!! Plus a lot of blue parts, very welcome. Regarding the functions, we need to see more pictures to judge if crawling can be decoupled for both tracks. It seams indeed not to me, but not sure yet. Quote
Conor Hyland Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 the designer has to deal with the current turntable that is to small for this kind of applications I absolutely agree with you here. I would love to see TLG design a more sturdy and robust turntable in the near future, possibly slightly bigger with ball bearings etc, but definitely one that does not give way horizontally like the current one does, when used in cranes and excavators this size. Ondra Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 What about the Mercedes Benc Arocs??? Not displayed??? No , no this is flagship and this meam best of technic line so tomorow we see photos. Quote
AndroTech Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Finally .... So it's official ... double rear wheels, front suspension, longer pneumatic, tipper bed with LA's, ... EPIC !!! Edited January 27, 2015 by AndroTech Quote
gevans12 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 For those that have not seen it...the video is now live! Quote
Conor Hyland Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 And the color scheme is just gorgeous!! Plus a lot of blue parts, very welcome. Absolutely. In fairness to TLG, they have given us a vast amount of parts in new colours this year, not to mention new ones. Let the fun begin! MOC builders, AFOL and technic collectors will be happy with this I'm sure. Quote
Balrog Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Arocs: Obviously, the bed is being tipped through LAs. The steering mechanism through a linkage seems to be interesting. Edited January 27, 2015 by Balrog Quote
TinkerBrick Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I want those pneumatic cylinders now. They seem quite long: 8 or nine studs. The long 1x1 looks quite realistic. The outriggers and the last extendable stage of the boom seem to be a new part with a corresponding housing. Quote
rumpletump Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Ahhh the truck ..Well the outriggers go in and out quite fast.. Suspension..Fake engine.. It's a great set.. can't wait to see the pneumatics in action closer up... Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Well the 42043 definitely has suspension as anticipated... Quote
gevans12 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 It would appear there are NO LA's on the Arocs, the dump bed is pneumatic...and yes it appears there is suspension too! Quote
allanp Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) It has the dual rear wheels, suspention on the front axles at least with live axles, realistic steering linkage, 1 wide base on the two wide cylinders very much like this: 1 wide cylinder with metal rod as well! Edited January 27, 2015 by allanp Quote
Balrog Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Also there is a new gear rack piece used for the outriggers. And obviously for the crane extension as well. Quote
Sardo Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 That actros! is the probably the best sett ever!! kudos to LEGO Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The steering seems a little flimsy... I guess from all of the weight... Quote
Conor Hyland Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Look at the length of those pneumatics!!! Quote
Freekysch Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Yes, yes and yes ! The Merc is so nice, it has suspension, new pneumatics and it looks very good too (almost as good as 8258). But man, what a year for the Technic line, i am impressed ! Quote
Balrog Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 The steering seems a little flimsy... I guess from all of the weight... But still, interesting mechanism. Quote
