I'm afraid these will all be instant-buys for me. As will the 'Elves' sets. I just hope they don't come out in the same month!

What is the "elves" set you mention here?

There's a rumored minidoll-scale theme based on elves.

I don't know what to expect from the Frozen set. Obviously, we'll get Ice Queen Elsa, and Winter Cloak Anna, but that means we'll probably get no Olaf, Sven, or Kristoff. It would be terrific if they had Elsa's royal outfit with the "queen" hair and a tiara as well, but that probably won't happen. I don't know what they'll do with the set at that scale, but I'm hoping justice will be done to it. I'm guessing it will be open-backed like Rapunzel's tower, but shorter and wider. It would probably have the interior staircase, the chandelier and the upper room, and the balcony with the famous doors to slam after singing "Let It Go" (snowflake patterns as stickers).

I think Jasmine's hair is too poofy to be Vitruvius's.

Yeah, Frozen is a rare case that has more main characters than just a couple. The others include Genie from Aladdin (but not sure if he'd be in a future set under this theme) and double Johns as Pocahontas's love interests. Still, if TLG is willing to bring more waves and Frozen sets, we still have chances to collect more characters from the same story.

I wonder what the other Elsa's hairstyle would be. The closest one is Rapunzel's, but that would be weird to make two Disney protagonists similiar.

It's a dead cert that here will be physical violence in stores to get hold of the Frozen set, so order it online!

Hahaha. Indeed!

I'm looking forward to all of those, especially Elsa's palace (perfect parts for Mr. Freeze MOCs).

41060 - Aurora's Bedroom

Ah, so close and yet so far from a Maleficent minidoll! If "Aurora's Bedroom" comes with any full-size minidolls, I guess Aurora and Prince Philip would be the most logical choices. Still, I would love to see a spinning wheel in the set. Auroa, Philip, and the spinning wheel would make for a complete scene: "The magic of the spinning wheel has sent Auroa into a deep sleep! Can Prince Philip break the curse with true love's kiss?"

Why would you believe in Phillip? Not being mean, judging from the fact it's a medium set, it's hard to tell if Phillip would trespass Aurora's room like the ending of the story, or Aurora would just stay in her room alone.

It feels like not making any Sleepling Beauty wave during the theatrical time of Maleficent was a mistake. However judging from the fact Maleficent was targeted at adults rather than marketing toys to KFOLs, it makes some sense. It's hard to tell if Maleficent figure would appear in the future. Her dragon form could do a great individual set, but its targeted group would be those who bought Dragon Mountain. :look:

So... No one?

I don't think we will get more than one minidoll in the Aurora set. It has the lowest set number of the line, which usually means it is one of the smallest sets (it's rumored to be only $12.99).

In fact, the Jasmine set is only $19.99, which spells trouble for Aladdin. In the first wave, only the sets $30+ had more than one minidoll... And with Elsa's Palace certainly featuring Elsa and Anna, and Ariel's set featuring people with mermaid 'legs', it seems like we won't get a male (human) minidoll.

I think the designs of the Disney Princess sets, in terms of price and number of minidolls, can mirror the regular Friends line. Friends has some sets priced at $25 that include two minifigures, including one set that includes a male and female minidoll, the "Heartlake News Van." Maybe there's still hope for an Aladdin minidoll.

I'm sure you're right, Dorayaki, and the only minidoll in "Auroa's Bedroom" will be Aurora. I just meant that if Lego was to put two minidolls in the set, the most likely choice for the second spot would be Philip, rather than the character I would like most, Maleficent. They could include another character that isn't a minidoll, like they did with Merida's bear brothers. But if they were doing a second full size minidoll, Philip is the only other character that fits the bedroom scene, and could be made at a low cost.

Also, you're totally right that the best time to release a Maleficent minidoll would have been around the release of the film. Although, with "The Dark Knight Rises," Lego didn't release a set based on that film until about the time of the DVD release (DKR came out in July, DVD came out in December, set came out around December/January).

Maleficient is the number one minidoll I'd like to see, and it would be amazing if she came in "Aurora's Bedroom," but I'm trying not to get too hopeful. It just doesn't seem likely. First, I'm not so sure that villain characters are even included under the Disney Princess license. So, if Lego wanted to make villains they might have to get an additional license (doubtfull). Second, none of the sets that include minidolls have ever come with a character that could really be described as a "villain" (unless the teacher in the school gives too much homework, and enjoys putting children in detention :classic: ).

Well I can see your passion for Maleficent, but for me I'd expect Maleficent's minifigure first.

It's been an issue that bigger minidolls sets don't have the same amount of figures as minifigure sets have. Most minidolls sets don't tend to be army builders and this leave little diversity for minidoll variations. Not really doing with girls or educational reasons, romance often plays big role in Disney films so the love interests would usually be prior to those big villains, which might be contrary to Superheroe sets. Friends is even worse for having issues for both love interests and villains, so Disney princes are lucky enough.

In other words, if we need any villain, at least we have to wait for a set that has more than three characters or has used the love interest in a previous set. Ursula currently has better chances than Maleficent. However, if LEGO just throw us a genric minidoll instead, I'd be speechless.

I can definitely see the Maleficent Dragon as set based on Dragon Mountain's idea. It's just that whether LEGO would ever try to sell Disney sets to Castle or dragon lovers or just focus on marketing to girls.

I'm not sure how the Disney licenses work these days, I think they reorganized them a few years back. I was told that Lego actually has the right to produce sets of any Disney property they want. However, when you are dealing with something like Disney Princess, there are rules to follow. From what I have gathered, as soon as you slap that 'Disney Princess' logo on the box, there is no chance that a villain will be included. And of course, as with all licensed sets, the owner company would have a lot to say in it's design process.

If the Disney Classics license still exists, it would be awesome if Lego made a theme about it. Sets like 'Sleeping Beauty' with Maleficent both in dragon and human form would be simply amazing! I would prefer minidolls, but minifigs would work as well, although I don't really like the 'slope as legs' technique for minifigs wearing a dress.

I read somewhere that Lego's research indicated that girls prefer named characters. That is why there isn't a single unnamed minidoll and why it is highly unlikely that we will ever get an 'army builder' minidoll set.

I know Ariel is one of the most popular Disney Princess but.... again?

I think "The Beauty and the Beast" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" deserve a couple of sets.

It seems I'm not the only one who would like to see a Disney Villains or Disney Heroes theme. It would be intersting to see how TGL pull out an Ursula minidoll

When it comes to Ariel, TLG probably wants to make greater use of the mermaid tail mold. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the only other movie with mermaids connected to the Disney Princesses line is The Little Mermaid II? That is, if Tiger Lily or Wendy isn't part of the Disney Princesses line. There were at least three mermaids in the original Disney Peter Pan.

Yes, Ariel is the only mermaid in the Disney Princess lineup. And obviously Friends has no use for mermaids. I'm hoping the tail piece sees some reuse in the Elves theme though. I would love to see a Peter Pan set, but the movie has zero connection to the Disney Princess branding so it's not happening unless they start a classic Disney movies range.

I can't find a reason why LEGO can't make Peter Pan, which does have a market. They've done characters with Duplo Jake. Tinklebell is also a commonly girls-oriented brand even though LEGO seem not planning to make it judging from the possible Elves theme. But again, mermaids aren't the major part of Peter Pan so it's offtopic. Tamara from Whitecap Bay was due to that her theme had tons of characters and there was room for any secondary candidate. The current problem for this Disney line is that it's not booming characters(figures).

Since this is a collective theme, I don't think we can get lots of characters/stories at once. Each of them might need a new mold, Uh, though there is a theme called Hobbits where every set has an exclusive hairpiece.

Mermaids and undersea have been one of the most popular theme for girls. Just hope that this is the end for Ariel unless LEGO want to introduce Ursula to us.

This actually makes a lot of sense. As a little girl, I LOVED the minifigures -- but one thing I did with them is name every one and write out little pieces of paper with birthday, likes, dislikes, etc for each one.

Indeed. Characters like him, Aladdin, Tarzan and Hercules deserve their own line.

Back to Disney Princess, "Elsa's Glittering Ice Palace" is the most interesting since it could have a bunch of translucent blue pieces and *hopefully* Marshmallow

Olaf is the most obvious choice as a mini sidekick to increase the playability and the appeal of the set.... but that would be kinda strange since they hardly had a scene together in the film.

But that probably is going to change in the new Frozen short film coming in 2015.

There were plenty of Olaf and Elsa scenes in the movie. She made him and then she gave him his personal cloud at the end so he won't melt and then the ice skating scene.

Not to mention, when he and Anna find Elsa in the palace for the first time. I think that scene could be what the set will be based on. Can we expect Elsa and Anna minidolls, a molded Olaf "companion", and a (n)ice palace for a $35 set? Of course, I'll buy anything that is both LEGO and Frozen.
