EdWebhead Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'm surprised by Elsa's Palace, it's much better than I thought it would be at that price. Definitely will pick it up. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Disappointed by Elsa's hairpiece (or is it new?), but there are now minidoll capes, and Elsa's hair is the right color. Olaf is weird, but I like that his head is indeed removable, as was the movie character's. Anna looks good, and the sled is a surprise. The palace looks good, too. I like that the balcony doors can be slammed! The ice slide is really unnecessary. There's far too much color in the palace, and flames were never there. I know, it's more appealing as a dollhouse, but still. Ariel's castle looks good. The mermaid sister is nice, Sebastian(!) is wonderful, and the giant shell and golden slide look great. There will be bloodbaths at LEGO stores for the Palace, and how appropriate for it to be a winter set (albeit a year and a month late)! Edited September 15, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
Robert8 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Olaf looks plain awful! But those are preliminaries, so... Elsa's palace has to be the best Disney Princess Set yet Look at all those translucent blue pieces! EDIT: SEBASTIAN!! Thanks CM4Sci!!! Edited September 15, 2014 by Robert8 Quote
robuko Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Elsa, Anna and Olaf? Now I'm a happy snowman! Not a big fan of the lilac steps though, blue would have been better. Quote
strangely Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) The Frozen set is definitely interesting. But the colors do look a bit weird, the stairs particularly seem to clash with the overall look of the set, but I suspect they won't be like that in the final. I do wonder if we'll get a hat-less version of Anna's hair. The cape looks like different material from the standard minifigure cape too, probably the same material as Storm's cape in the Marvel set. I am curious if this wave will actually feature movie accurate faces, rather than the first wave that just used generic faces. That is perhaps my biggest problem with this theme. The generic faces make it look like Friends characters dressing up as Disney characters. They go to such lengths to recreate dresses and animal companions to full detail, but for some reason the main characters all have bland generic faces. I mean I realize there's limitations on how much Lego can look like someone, but these faces have just been lazy. Edited September 15, 2014 by strangely Quote
Hythonia Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'm glad Alana gets a mini doll in the Ariel set. She was always one of my favorite of her sisters. Quote
Fritzy Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Elsa's Palace is going to perform exceptionally. I have a feeling it'll be surprisingly affordable for its scope. Also.... Sebastian! Quote
skelliesgang Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 So much to like here. There's Sebastian and I think his claws can hold accessories, looks like he is wielding a goblet. The slide in Ariel's palace I don't get...they are underwater. Elsa's castle is okay, I wish the stairs and balcony rails were pale blue not lavender. Olaf looks awful, I wonder why they didn't go with a 1brick mold similar to Merida's brothers. I probably will just pick up the A&E minifigs off bricklink and save my $$$ for the FANTASTIC looking Elves line. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The Frozen set is just about what I pictured it would be. My daughter (and probably my son as well) will flip out when they see this. I'm glad that it isn't just Elsa and Anna but I wish they could have thrown in Kristof and Sven as well. I'd think a reindeer mold, at least, would be reusable in other themes. The slide in Ariel's palace I don't get...they are underwater. It's Bubble Guppy logic. Best not to think about it too hard or your brain will melt. Quote

The slide in Ariel's palace I don't get...they are underwater. Well... there are flowers and torches in Elsa's Ice Palace so.... I think logic doesn't apply when it comes to Disney, anyway... What is that thing in the back in the Frozen set? A slide? Quote
CptPJs Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The Ariel set reminds me so much of the early Belville sets of my youth that I think I have to have it. Quote
Dorayaki Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Much similiar to my earlier guess, LEGO wouldn't introduce King Triton or Ursula that easily. Looks like we're getting Alana rather than Melody juding from that tail color. Wish to see more subcharacacters for this line in the future. Elsa's Castle is very welldone as a medium Castle set. And looks like both sisters would get their own exclusive hairpieces (sure, TLG can do that just like the Lake Town people.) It's nice to see both sets coming with new mascots, but Sven would still be the most-wanted mascot to most FOLs. :p I am curious if this wave will actually feature movie accurate faces, rather than the first wave that just used generic faces. I mean I realize there's limitations on how much Lego can look like someone, but these faces have just been lazy. Not very sure. These pics are still leaks so there could be some changes like the previous leaks. Yes, this does dissapoint some Friends fans who want to make a crossover play between two minidoll themes. The other problem is that the Disney minidolls would eventually unidentifiable if every princess look the same. However, the princes all used original faces so I think there is a chance for future female characters to use new prints. It looks like Alana also uses an old print.Jasmine happens to have brown amber eyes and tanned skin so she might just reuse the face from Joanna (oh, only if we're not talking about minidolls Edited September 15, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote

phanstasm Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I simply googled elsa palace lego 41062 and there is it https://www.google.c...1062%2F;800;800 Thank you, anakin066! It was great to see those two new sets (and other themes from 2015!!). Elsa's palace is a must-buy (great for Super Heroes, Chima, and so much more). Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Elsa's is the only set I care about for that theme. My daughter will flip for sure. Although if she had her way, she'd have all of them and then probably never play with them after a few weeks. But I could see her playing with Frozen for longer. Olaf isn't ideal; however, the carrot stalks in black will be useful. I don't love the color scheme either with the purple, but I'm sure they needed another color to mix it up. Too much white and trans blue wouldn't be good either. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) Anyone have a link to the Little Mermaid set? EDIT: nevermind.... Edited September 16, 2014 by The_Chosen_1 Quote
robuko Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Olaf looks awful, I wonder why they didn't go with a 1brick mold similar to Merida's brothers. I think Olaf is great, about as good as could be. I'm pretty sure they went with this solution so that we can, you know, build a snowman! Like in the movie! These are toys for children, after all, and that is what they will what to do. Before seeing fire to the pieces, eating them, and other child habits.... Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Don't forget shooting round-headed babies in the eye. I think Olaf is...okay. His body is awful, it's too blocky, and he needs feet. But the arms and head are great. Quote
CM4Sci Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Olaf looks fine. I just don't like how they didn't include the "hair" coming out of his head. -Sci Quote
JerseyManiac1 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I find it incredibly annoying that these Princess lego have to be slated for a January release. That leaves about a 10 day window to get them before Christmas, and that Frozen set is going to fly off the shelves. There is no reason whatsoever to not make the release date December 1st to make it easier on us. Quote
CptPJs Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 The reason has something to do with not competing with the sets they put out intentionally for Christmas. The post-Christmas sets are supposed to be for when the kids start getting bored of their presents a few weeks/months later, and start reminding their parents that Easter/birthdays/good grades etc is coming up and that's what they'll want. Most parents only find out about the toys when their kids see them in the shops, so they have to be released significantly prior for them to be known about. So I've heard, anyway. Quote
JerseyManiac1 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I should have said no GOOD reason. And I don't think there is anything for girls coming out next month, and Jungle Friends sets are absolutely atrocious. So what is set I'm suppose to buy a girl this Christmas? I already bought my daughter the first 2 Ariel sets, and with no Ursula, I'm not getting this new one. So hopefully I can score the other 3 and some Elves sets before the holidays. Quote
