vriverajr3 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I was just informed by 2 different lego stores that these have a hard release date of January 1st. I tell you now that if I do not get this Frozen set for my daughter BEFORE Christmas day, I will never buy another Lego ever again. Atop my daughters list is Legos. I buy them for her throughout the year, and she has all she wants that is already out. There is absolutely NOTHING special about giving this to her on Janauary 1 st. Watching her unwrap it on Christmas morning however....and seeing her eyes light up....thats what parents aim for on that day. So I don't care what the reason is, license or whatever, it is completely heartless and incredibly un kid friendly to this. I got all the Princess legos before Christmas last year, so what the hell is problem for this year! But hey, if they don't want my buisness any more, fine by me. At least I have a chance with TRU ignoring the ridiculous dates like they usually do. Saying theirs nothing special about giving it to your daughter on JAN 1st instead of Christmas is just being materialistic. I would love nothing more than to give my son the 2015 super heroes sets for Christmas, but if i cant, I'm not going to wine, and complain threatening to never buy LEGO again. That's just childish and sad. I understand you want to see your child's eyes light up, but if the only way you can make your child's eyes light up on Christmas is by getting them the new Frozen set, than you're doing something wrong. My son would love the new super heroes sets, but i can also think of a 100 other ways to make his eyes light up on Christmas besides those. You should be teaching your daughter their's more to Christmas than just presents, but it looks like you don't even understand that. Stop being selfish. Happy Holidays anyway though. Complain to LEGO customer service about this, they'll give in. Also check your PMs every morning at 6AM EST (and throughout the day), I might be able to hook you up this week. I can tell how important this is to you. That's really bad advice. Customer service doesn't deserve to get badgered for something like this, nor does someone who thinks like this deserve to get hooked up by you. Posts like her's are selfish and petty, and it's sad seeing this kind of attitude around the holiday's. The whole "if i don't get what i want for Christmas, then ill be mad" attitude should be the attitude of know one, especially a parent. Quote

Shib Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I don't get why people are getting so bent out of shape over this. lego havent put out any adverts for the Frozen sets, its typical for them to bring out new sets in January, not December.mi get that its nice to be able to give good gifts but its the same as me getting annoyed at Marvel because i want to see Age of Ultron now. There's no reason to get bent out of shape about it. The set will likely be available for over a year so just get it for a birthday/good behaviour/next christmas/random Wednesday surprise pressent instead. Quote

I'm a selfish parent for wanting to get my kid something I know she'll love on Christmas? Thats really what you're saying here? Cause if thats the case, its YOU who knows nothing about the "spirit of Christmas". I buy my kids toys throughout the whole year. I believe in rewarding good behavior and such. So everything they wanted that was in stores in Novemeber, they already have! Plenty of Monster High came out this month, but not much else. And as I said before, what she wants most is LEGOS! Am I suppose to buy her sets she doesn't want? More than that, what about the 5 days between Christmas and the 1st is so important to Lego? It wasn't a problem last year when I got her all the Princess sets, so why do they feel its so important to hold them back this year? The only thing I can think of is its to push people to buy older sets that didn't sell well. And that is complete and utter crap! It wouldn't kill them to put sets out in November instead of January. Sales would still be the same. Since becoming a parent, the most important thing about Christmas is my kids. Some of my fondest memories growing up are from Christmas mornings. I want to give them the same memories. There will be NOTHING in the spirt of Christmas, Santa, or anything else if I have to take her to the store on January 1st. If you think that makes me a bad parent, you can go scratch sir. Edited December 10, 2014 by JerseyManiac1 Quote

The only thing I can think of is its to push people to buy older sets that didn't sell well. And that is complete and utter crap! It wouldn't kill them to put sets out in November instead of January. Sales would still be the same. 4.Since becoming a parent, the most important thing about Christmas is my kids. Some of my fondest memories growing up are from Christmas mornings. I want to give them the same memories. There will be NOTHING in the spirt of Christmas, Santa, or anything else if I have to take her to the store on January 1st. If you think that makes me a bad parent, you can go scratch sir. 1. Wining, complaining, and threatening to never buy from a company again just because you cant get a certain item before Christmas is indeed selfish, regardless if it would make your daughter happy or not. Especially LEGO, a company which has always been about the community, and probably has the best customer service on the planet in my opinion. The true "spirit of Christmas" has nothing to do with presents, which you fail to realize. 2. It's not about what anyone "wants", it's about "appreciating" whatever you get on Christmas or in life in general. My son is only 7 and realizes that. it shouldn't be too hard for you. My sons top "wants" for Christmas is the 2015 DC sets, but if i cant get them for him in time, I'm not going to complain and threaten Lego, and I'm %100 positive whatever i do get my son instead, he'll be appreciative of it. If you believe your daughter wont complain, and will appreciate anything you give her, then as a parent/adult, you have no reason to complain about not being able to get those gifts in the first place. 3. I'ts not always about the gifts so who cares. You're the only person iv'e seen heavily complain about the release date. Parents who cant get the new sets in time will find other ways to make their kids smile on Christmas. I'ts honestly that simple. If they can do that, so can you. 4. Trust me, I'm the same way. My son comes first when it comes to Christmas, but at the same time he needs to always appreciate whatever he gets, even if its not exactly what he wanted. Last year around Christmas i was just about completely broke and wasn't able to get my son the exact Lego sets he wanted, and it absolutely killed me inside. I instead got him cheaper sets that i maybe thought he'd like, and you know what? even knowing he didn't get exactly what he liked, appreciating what he got, he ran over and gave me the biggest hug ever, and that is the "true" meaning of Christmas. And because he was so thankful, a few months later when i was back on my feet, i bought him the exact sets he wanted from Christmas, and told him it was because he was appreciative. So instead of complaining, and threatening to never buy again from a great company like LEGO, if you cant get the sets in time, get them for your daughter later as a gift for being appreciative for what ever you got her instead. I't might not be the way you wanted it to happen, but as a parent/adult, you should know that life doesn't always go as we want it to. Turn a negative into a positive. I wish more people thought like that instead of going straight to complaining, specially about something as irrelevant as Christmas gifts. Edited December 10, 2014 by vriverajr3 Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Okay. Can we dail it back a little here? I get it, emotions and stresses are running high because of whatever (Least said about crimmas the better). However arguments like this aren't going to make things better. No, you shouldn't nag customer services about release dates. TLG set them for their reasons and if other retailers break ranks it is on their corporate backs. It is a pity that these sets have a January release instead of one for the hoilday, but these things happen. You could gift the exact price or more in cash/vouchers/giftcard and let your little girl feel very grown up to be purchasing her own LEGO just as soon as the set is in in stores. So, lets close this argument here please and not start any trouble further. Thank you. Quote
JerseyManiac1 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 (edited) Argument over. And I hope this isn't considered starting any further trouble but..... http://www.ebay.com/...ish0714&_sop=10 If the hard release date is Jan 1, where exactly are people in NC and GA getting these from?....and kindly selling them for the low, low price of over a hundred dollars. Here's an article speculating about it: http://www.bricksandbloks.com/lego-frozen-elsas-castle-41062-set-released-stores/ It was most likely either Toys-R-Us or a physical Lego store who ignored the street date, but I'm sure other stores will be dropping it as soon as they get it as well. If you check the Lego subreddit, there is a post on there talking about how to search which Target stores have it in stock, I think. I'd link to it, but Reddit is blocked at my work computer so I'll attach a link later if no one else does. Quote
JerseyManiac1 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I called the NC Lego store, and they said it wasn't them. So it must be TRU or Target. I tried the main TRU number to have them check the country, but they said it wouldn't let him do the search, which suggests it might be Target, but who knows. I am absolutely NOT paying one of these scumbag scalpers an extra $80 for this. Just hope I can find it in time. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) I am absolutely NOT paying one of these scumbag scalpers an extra $80 for this. To be honest, if your child ABSOLUTELY wants this, I would try... but it's entirely up to you! If all else fails, try a gift card. ;-) Anyway, I am very much excited for the Frozen set to release. legopiratelord Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Ok, here's what I found on reddit. Go to this website: http://brickseek.com/sets/target_inventory and enter your zipcode and the DCPI number, which the OP said was: 086-14-2474 and it will tell you if any of the stores near you have any in stock. I tried searching near my parents and none of the stores near them had any in stock. Hopefully if you keep checking, some may pop up in a store near you. Good luck! Quote
JerseyManiac1 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 That is most helpful. Thank you very much. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 It is a well known thing that less than moral stock room employees skim off (though not steal, they'll use employee purchasing schemes) high desireability items for megabucks resale online. Probably all very risky but nets good money! Quote
addemlit Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 I snagged up two of them at one of my local Targets. They were in the backroom. Quote
BeardedNerdSE Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 This set (Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle) has been released in Sweden. It came in a separate display just for this set, with preview pictures of the rest of the line, so I don't think it's a case of a retailer slipping it out early. Here's my review: http://www.beardednerd.se/review-of-lego-disney-princess-elsas-sparkling-ice-castle-41062/ I hope you guys get an opportunity to officially get it before Christmas too. I'm guessing Lego are doing everything they can do deliver this in time. Quote
Dorayaki Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Great review . I'm not too surprised with the content, we know it's a playhouse thing, but I would expect all flowers and decorations to be iced colors, not to make the whole place too colorul and habitable for Elsa to end up her life. This definitely reminds me of Belville snow castles, but I do wish this Frozen set to be as big as them, which are big enough for minifigure/dolls and we could see a bigger lobby. And still a note: I've not seen Elsa declared as a Disney Princess in recent news, and I don't think it's the main reason why LEGO didn't do a new theme for Frozen based on the fact LEGO have introduced some other Disney/Pixar themes so far. Quote
strangely Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) It looks to be a pretty good set, definitely a high point for this theme, for once the building involved actually manages to look somewhat like the building it's based on. The likenesses of the characters are better too, correct eye colors for the both of them and freckles for anna. All we need now is correct eyebrow colors and a different eyelash pattern for Elsa and they'd look pretty close to their movie counterparts. Though I do think they should have created a new dress piece for Anna as her skirt isn't floor length like Elsa's. Olaf looks pretty good, but his head doesn't look quite right, the nose bothers me. TheBrickPal Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 From your photos, Olaf doesn't look as bad as I thought. I still wish he had hair, though. Great review! Quote
just2good Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 Here's my stuff on the set! Overall, this set will DEFINITELY be a hit with the chillren', as is Frozen, and the design is simple and easy to build. For use AFOLs/TFOLs, the appeal will come from the pieces. There's some rare/exclusive aqua and trans light blue pieces here, and the two minidolls have phenomenal hair and printing! Quote
Dorayaki Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 the nose bothers me. True. I don't hate the cone, but the missing hair looks like that TLG put their focus on the wrong place. The proportion of face could have been better.I also find Anna's hat abit weird. It's not a thick piece but rather looks like a part of the real hair. Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Olaf looks really ugly. The expression is creepy and the lack of hair is distracting. Couldn't they have put a hole in his head and used another one of the brown sprout pieces? And the proportions freak me out, too. Elsa and Anna look really good, though. Quote
strangely Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) I also find Anna's hat abit weird. It's not a thick piece but rather looks like a part of the real hair. I don't mind her hat/hair piece, but I think they should have included a version without the hat as well. Though I'm betting they will somewhere down the line. There's obviously more to be done with this movie. Edited December 14, 2014 by strangely Quote
just2good Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 Jasmine time! Honestly, this set is pretty good. I LOVE the Jasmine minidoll! She's near-perfect with exclusive printing or moulding on every piece. The build itself is half and half. The carpet is very well done, the "palace" is alright, but could have had a better interior, and I wish they would have expanded upon that by taking out the very mediocre tree and "just okay" fountain. Bonus pic: Lovin' the new Jasmine hair piece. Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 It bothers me that Jasmine looks so good, but her set is so meh. Quote
just2good Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 It bothers me that Jasmine looks so good, but her set is so meh. I feel ya. I mean, for $20, it's alright. Just wish they would have maybe switched it with the Little Mermaid set and maybe make it $55. Quote
