AmperZand Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I few people have complained about repeats of ideas used in previous series, but I don't think that's fair. The primary target audience for these figures are children, and every year lots of new children become old enough to start collecting Lego. It wouldn't be fair if a kid was really into ninjas, but Lego never released another Ninja figure because they'd already done that in series 1. The CMF series is always going to be a mix of ideas that pop up over and over again (knights, spacemen, cowboys) and utterly unique ideas that will never be seen again (Demolition Dummy, Lady Liberty). I agree that we should expect repeats due to new cohorts of kids becoming collectors and older kids/teens entering their DAs. But it's not out of a sense of fairness that TLG repeats concepts. If, as you correctly point out, some tropes will always be popular (knights, spacemen and cowboys to use your examples), TLG will meet that demand by returning to them periodically. It's more important to TLG to satisfy its core demographic, i.e. kids, than a secondary one, i.e. AFOLs. If a few AFOLs will be upset by the re-use of a CMF concept that will be popular with kids, that's a concession TLG is willing to make. Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 A hot dog costume would need a new sandwich board. Where did we see the possible Evil Wizard? I can't accept the Lady Cyclops reusing the S9 mask. No amount of stupid makeup printed on it (like the Alien Villainess and Lady Robot) could make it look feminine. Just really lazy and ugly. Also, I can't say how happy I am to see new accessory pieces after two series of only new headgear and capes.and the one new guitar. I fully expect the Egyptian and Disco Diva to have new hairpieces, unless the Warrior has a helmet. Quote
Cagast Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I only do not understand Galaxy Trooper and Alien Trooper. Why do they waste space for minifigures, when we already have both, and they can't make them any better? Quote
Cagast Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 I hated that. They were almost same but with different colors. But why both of them in one series. I hope that was a wrong translation. Quote
AmperZand Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Where did we see the possible Evil Wizard? Hello, 8Brick Here's the possible Evil Wizard: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99525&st=200#entry2047006 My guess is that he'll have a slope piece like the S12 Wizard instead of the articulated legs shown at the link. just2good Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Hey look, pictures! -Sci Thanks for sharing the link! Looks like they're rebranding LEGO Minifigures a bit in 2015. Maybe displays like that will be world wide, but I'm not sure. Quote
gedren_y Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Ooh! I can see so much goodness! Doc Holliday! The Alien Trooper appears to have something similar to the SP3 skull headgear, but with mouthparts like Doctor Zoidberg from Futurama. It looks like he'll have wings as well (on the boxes). Looks like we'll get a black version of the wizard's cape. A new king's crown, with possibly a scepter. The Egyptian warrior looks to have a new headdress. The one so often used in Pharaohs Quest was actually taken from a royal headdress, so it is good to now have a common man's headdress. He may be holding a new shield too. The female cyclops appears to be dark blue or dark bley. The Paleontologist seems to have a new pith helmet. The Disco Diva appears to be wearing some shiny shoes, not printed! The guy with a beard could be the Carpenter or the Hot Dog Guy. Quote

just2good Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Oh, I didn't deeplink it because they're still preliminary-ish. -Sci No confidential stamp, so I'd assume there's no problem with these. Kinda like the Bionicle display. Quote
jluck Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Oh, I didn't deeplink it because they're still preliminary-ish. -Sci Sorry, I'm not up on my protocol on the posting topic. If I'm asked, I'll certainly remove it. So I was able to zoom in, notice the Sheriff has a wanted poster with the bandit on it?! Also, the king is incredible! I'm trying to see if the wizard is one of the smaller images but I'm unsure. Quote
Blakstone Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Seems I will be disappointed from the goblin after all... Others think that is the Alien Trooper which makes sense with the squid like jowls. I don't think this pic as the goblin at all. Quote
Onslaught Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 They all look like the copy of old ones. Quote
Cagast Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 They could use any other color. Green? Why repeat colors! Cyclops looks the same. I thought they would use a different headpiece. Or atleast a different accessory. I am trying to find Hot Dog Man.....can't see anything Quote
Sir Gareth Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) Others think that is the Alien Trooper which makes sense with the squid like jowls. I don't think this pic as the goblin at all. It's the Alien Trooper. It has some sort of ray gun. Edited November 6, 2014 by Sir Gareth Quote
