Niku Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Great series so far. I wonder which ones will have dual faces printed. Quote
Robert8 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I'd like if LEGO introduces back printing in the legs in this series. The Paleontologist, the Egyptian Warrior, Lady Cyclops and the Goblin need it Quote
legofanatic12 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I noticed this series will be released in January 2015 at LEGO stores and TRU, but some stores like Target, Walmart and Walgreens will release them early like what they did in Series 12. Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Back leg printing isn't feasible, and wouldn't be convincing without a way to print the inside of the leg holes. Short legs are simpler and more solid, but the jointed standard legs with holes wouldn't be easy to print while making it look good. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I liked the rest especially the King, Hot Dog suit guy and a Unicorn Girl, but the Lady Cyclops makes me disappointed. The Galaxy Trooper's armor and headpiece is great, but he use the same helmet as S7 Galaxy Patrol and S9 Alien Avenger. Quote
gedren_y Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Dual color short legs are not printed, but in fact are over-molded. Brickarms does this on occasion with limited use in house molds (production molds are outsourced). I have no use for the Hot Dog Suit Guy. His torso appears to be tan, and if there is an interesting/usable print I may rethink acquiring him. Though he seems to be the center of the marketing for this series, I will likely take a pass on him. I don't see the hate for the Lady Cyclops. Her makeup is bad because, well, she likely doesn't know how to use it. Think about it; in a fantasy world how would a lady cyclops learn how to apply it? I see the Lady Cyclops trying to make herself beautiful (like the Princess) and failing. Hopefully the makeup is only on the headgear, and not on the head itself. If that is the case, a simple print removal can be done. Quote
just2good Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Does anyone know if the Evil Wizard's fire is trans-red or trans-neon orange? Quote
Amazing Bricks Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Does anyone know if the Evil Wizard's fire is trans-red or trans-neon orange? Trans neon orange, its been used a lot in sets recently. Quote
telaruhn Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 After looking at the hi-res pictures again, I have some observations about printing: - It looks as if only the Disco Diva has any actual arm printing. The only other special arms are the Paleontologist's and Carpenter's short sleeves. - Though we can't see any back printing, My guesses for back printing include the Paleontologist, Sheriff, Lady Cyclops, Egyptian Warrior, Disco Diva, and Alien Trooper. The rest would look fine without back printing, as many of them have armor or capes that cover their backs. - Similar to back printing, we can't see any reversible heads. My guesses for these are the Galaxy Trooper and Lady Cyclops. - The Galaxy Trooper and the Hot Dog Man look like they have plain torsos... Which is a bummer. - There's printing on every figure's legs except for the Hot Dog Man. This makes this series the one with the highest number of printed legs. Overall, I think Lego has come a long way with delivering unique and detailed prints. If we look back to Series 1, any printing would only be on the front sides of the figure, and there was no printing on any of the headpieces. Fast-forward to today's series, and you get back, arm, and side-leg printing, and even printing on headpieces. While the price tag is double what it used to be in the US, the quality of the printing more than makes up for it. And that's not even considering the newer, more intricate molds. Quote
legofanatic12 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 The Galaxy Trooper should have a torso printing like the S7 Space Marine, S9 Alien Avenger, and S12 Space Miner off course he will have a name on it. Quote
Hythonia Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 I'm not too excited about this wave, honestly. None of them are "must-haves" for me, but I will be on the lookout for: Egyptian Warrior Evil Wizard Goblin King Lady Cyclops Samurai Snake Charmer Quote
8BrickMario Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 (edited) @ gedren_y, The short legs have had actual back printing, not just the multi-layered plastic. CMF Bart Simpson has one half of his slingshot printed there. But no chance for the standard legs. We know the Cyclops will have a double face, and I'm sure the Galaxy Trooper will, too. I honestly don't expect more, since it's very uncommon in the theme. The Diva needs back printing for that outfit. Wait, she does! EDIT: The review is up! They all look like great minifigures. I really want that Goblin, Evil Wizard, and Disco Diva. And I still like the Lady Cyclops, and she has good back printing. The Classic King's two-piece cape was a surprise to me. Artanis I Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I see comments about a female dwarf. 1 problem, it is unlikely that a female dwarf would come with legs, it seems all(?) medieval/fantasy females come with a dress these days. And if TLG keeps giving us those too-tall slopes as dresses, the female dwarf is going to be taller than a human male... Quote

Although may make her look a little funny. Quote
Zarana-X Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) - Sheriff: Whats with sheriffs with mustaches? Is it a Wyatt Earp thing? But its a good fig, and again, its good to see the mustache in a new color. The wanted poster is a nice touch, but it doesnt reach the quality of the 96 version, which had actual text. Facial hair was more common, than not before the advent of disposable razor blades, and running water, where you could safely shave yourself. Edited December 1, 2014 by Zarana-X Quote
Blakstone Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Facial hair was more common, than not before the advent of disposable razor blades, and running water, where you could safely shave yourself. Huh? Facial hair is a cultural thing. It is a stereotype of the Wild West in the US. However, if you were to go to ancient Rome, you would have seen mostly clean shaved men. When Julius Casear was a rebellious young man, he sported a goatee. I think this sheriff got the large mustache as a way to reuse the mold from TLM in a new color. It is the same as the carpenter reusing Emmet's helmet / hair combo. Most carpenters that I see don't wear helmets. But that might be because I don't see them on construction sites. Quote
jonwil Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 google for "carpenter hardhat" shows plenty of examples of carpenters wearing hardhats. I suspect any carpenter working at height or in area where there might be falling objects (e.g. working underneath somewhere where things might fall down from above) would wear one. Plus I have seen any number of kids plastic tool sets that come with play hardhats. Its just cool to get a hardhat in a color other than red for once... Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 And a character with Nougat-shade hair! Quote
Robert8 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) After reading the rearview, I'm slightly disappointed with the Hot Dog Man. No accessories and plain torso? That Hot Dog mould must have been really expensive. At least, a printed title as a pamphlet would have been nice Besides, I think black legs and arms would have worked better, since the guy is dressed as a Hot Dog, the legs and the arms aren't supposed to be there. About the Alien Trooper, we know that head mould will bereused somehow. I'm guessing the next Space line or..... Lady Alien Edited December 2, 2014 by Robert8 Quote
Ardelon Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Facial hair was more common, than not before the advent of disposable razor blades, and running water, where you could safely shave yourself. Well, I agree with Blakstone that its more of a cultural thing. Whatever the case I find it significant that its the sheriffs that get the big moustache molds. Prospectors with unkempt beards I can understand, but sheriffs and mustaches? After reading the rearview, I'm slightly disappointed with the Hot Dog Man. Lady Alien Not necessarily. The Alien Grey still hasnt been reused. Though I hope this guy will. And I think the dark tan arms blend in better witht the bun, thus giving the appearance of "not being there". But yeah, I was hoping for a brochure, sausage or even a new hot dog piece for the HDG. Oh well. Quote
Robert8 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Oh the gray Alien head... I forgot about that one. And the Minotaur's head has not been reused yet. But I think this one is way too specific to be used in something else. Quote
Colossus Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Until they use it for a FEMALE minotaur for series 14! Quote
Dorayaki Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) Unless LEGO would write an original story for the return of Castle, most of us usually refer to the one and only male Minotaur from the myth. I assume many current CMF molds show to be exclusive to one character and would hardly return in the future rehashing. Both mascots from this series are obvious examples. Aliens look like easy choices for gender swap though they could be stereotypically added lipstick just like Alien Villainess. if TLG keeps giving us those too-tall slopes as dresses, the female dwarf is going to be taller than a human male... I don't think she needs a dress. Even if she does, she can use Lisa's cloth or a shorter slope. Edited December 2, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote
8BrickMario Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 *slow clap* They actually made a character's trait the "step on LEGO" joke! I love it! Quote
