Disco Diva is my second favorite after Hot Dog Man. Printing is what makes her fantastic, she is probably the best female minifigure in the theme for me. I don't know why would she be useless, brown afro is very useful

I only do fantasy/castle and scifi so I have no use for it. I just can't do more themes, I'd spend too much!

Series 13 is probably my favorite series so far, so many interesting pieces. And FINALLY a brown moustache piece, I'll definitely try to get that one.

I love so much this world!

I'll crave for 100 goblins, and I'd discard every Disco Diva since she's totally useless to me.

I love the differences between people!

This is what makes minifigures so great, there's something for everyone!

You can have the as many Goblins as you want, as long as I get 1 to complete my set :)

Agreed. The dark brown afro feels much more useful than its previous colors of red or black. I'm also very partial to the white skates. And while the golden microphone isn't as useful, I think if someone had quite a few of these they could make a great architectural detail of some sort.

I want the Disco Diva as well. Her colors are just so fun, and she's a neat novelty "decades" character fitting with the Diner Waitress ('50s), Hippie('60s), Disco Dude ('70s), and Rock Star ('80s).

They aren't out yet at my Target so I asked with the DCPI, the employee went in the back but when he came back said they couldn't sell them till the 1st. :hmpf_bad: I didn't give him a hard time since he already went out of his way but its a bit annoying since they had tons of City, SW, and friends Jan 1st sets already on the shelves.

It's nice that they didn't include Mr. Gold in the Minifigures list page, as I thought that whole idea and "promotion" was just about setting up false expectations with kids.

Also the Olympic figures are absent which is also for the best since these were not available outside England.

They were, they were available in Scotland and Wales, and probably in Northern Ireland too.

Agree about the Disco Diva

She is awesome but purple is my favorite color so I'm kinda biased.

Love the concentric circles pattern in the legs and torso, and the purple/brown combination.

The only thing I don't like about her is that she doesn't have another face without her glasses. A face with purple lipstick is always welcomed.

I thought it would be kinda fun to match a Series 12 figure with a Series 13 figure. Here's what I came up with:

Space Miner and Alien Trooper - a fun space-traveling duo

Battle Goddess and Egyptian Warrior - Rome vs. Egypt

Wizard and Evil Wizard - mortal enemies

Dino Tracker and Paleontologist - dino gal-pals

Swashbuckler and Fencer - sparring buddies

Piggy Guy and Unicorn Girl - costumed characters

Fairytale Princess and Classic King - father and daughter

Pizza Delivery Man and Carpenter - father and son

Prospector and Sheriff - western folk

Hun Warrior and Samurai - Mulan!

Jester and Goblin - the tricksters

Rock Star and Disco Diva - iconic music performers

Genie Girl and Snake Charmer - Middle Eastern figures

Spooky Girl and Lady Cyclops - the "monster" girls

Video Game Guy and Galaxy Trooper - gamer is playing Mass Effect

Lifeguard and Hot Dog Man - Hot Dog Man sells hotdogs on the boardwalk to the Lifeguard watching the beach

Okay, the last one may be a bit of a stretch, but I think they otherwise match with each other rather nicely. :)

I've completed series 13, just waiting for hubby to finish putting the display cases together and then I can move them into their permanent home.

Alien Trooper's head and the Snake Charmer's cobra are rubbery..... :distressed:

I didn't know that

What a bummer!

Boooooo! And i wanted to start an army of alien. Guess i'll buy just one then

That sort of disappointed me, but if you know the rubberized piece criteria (pieces are made in rubber or soft plastic if they are too long, thin, or sharp, like the CMF spear, Spooky Girl's hair, and the loops for beards and mustaches) it's not a surprise. That cobra tongue would be too fragile otherwise, and the alien mouthparts may be too long or separate to be made in ABS.

Found the set in WH Smiths today. Turned out that I've picked up: the Alien Trooper, Evil Wizard and Unicorn girl. Liking the Wizard and Trooper. I can make a very nice D&D Mind flayer or Call of Cthulhu type abomination, and if I could find a suitable head the alien body would work for an Iron Man armour but what do I do with the Unicorn? Is there any way to "man" it up and incorporate it into other sets?? What could I do with the head/tail/horn pieces?

My sets mostly tend to be: Star Wars/Pirates/Fantasy/Super hero.

Pirate ship figurehead?

Turn the head into a stuffed hunting trophy?

Any suggestions?

I picked up 5 galaxy troopers, 2 aliens, a king and a Egyptian warrior at Target. I had to ask again (this was my 3rd attempt) but this time the associate actually brought the display out for me. They didn't have a place ready to hang it but were nice enough to just put it on some open shelf space.

The alien head is not ABS but was not as soft as I expected. Still looks quite good. I found them a bit hard to detect, ended up going with the gun pieces to confirm it.

Alien Trooper's head would be perfect for Cthulhu, but printing ruins it. :sceptic:

Isn't it possible to remove printing with mineral spirits? Not sure if that works ok on the soft plastic though instead of ABS.

So after some deliberation, I ended up buying a full set of Series 13 figures online for $80 US, which includes shipping. Not bad, considering it's only $16 more than I would have paid getting them in a store, and that's not even considering the time I would have spent looking for them and feeling up the bags. I figured that I'd get the whole lot first, then if I want extras, I can always feel up the bags at local stores once they become more available. The ones I bought should be here within a week :)

I've noticed many people simply prefer their LEGO pieces to be made of hard ABS, but I can see why there were some pieces made as a softer plastic or rubber instead. I'm indifferent about it regardless, as long as they don't hurt as much when stepped on ;)

Also - I've said this before, but I would like to emphasize how impressed I am with the textiles in these CMF waves. I actually just bought another Wizard, Spooky Girl, Hun Warrior, and Battle Goddess from Series 12 simply because their cloth pieces make them super-unique and dynamic, not to mention they have other great and versatile parts as well. This is what makes me excited for the Evil Wizard and Classic King - their two-part capes are just amazing and are a cut above the typical cape.

This is not my favorite wave, but that's because some of the figures just don't appeal to me. I can see that they'd appeal to other people, though. I'm not into Western, but that's a nice-looking cowboy.

I did pick up three that I wanted today, though: Hot Dog Guy, Unicorn Girl, and Carpenter. My daughter happily has Unicorn Girl playing with Unikitty in Cloud Cuckoo Land. Hot Dog Guy is great, though I bet Lego had a heck of a time justifying production of that single-purpose mold (unless a future wave has "Polish Sausage Guy" in a different color).

Polish Sausage Guy

Probably be Polish Sausage Girl, the way things have gone in the past.

Or Evil Polish Sausage Guy!

EDIT: Chiming in to say I found a (mostly) untouched endcap/sidecap box at a Wal-Mart, and picked up 8 figs. 7 of them were even ones I was after.

Was at the lego store on jan 1st. man was it packed inside. I have never seen so many people at the lego store purchasing sets. The line literally wrapped around inside the store. It felt like blackfriday. Crazy!! In the back corner is where they had the minifiguers. A lot of people came with their significant partners helping each other feel for the ones they wanted. But I must say Everyone was helping each other out Such great comradery. We were also helping any kid who wanted a particular one. Anyways majority wanted the hot dog guy and the ladies wanted the unicorn, the king and evil wizard was popular. Overall i love this series had really great unique pieces. I was able to snag all the ones I wanted hot dog guy, paleontologist, evil wizard, king, Cyclopes, unicorn, carpenter, snake charmer, & sheriff.

I love the range of capes, too, but the Wizard's (like Vitruvius's) frays easily. I do like the Hun and Evil Wizard capes, especially since we get two properly decorated textiles in this series. I'll be hunting for the Disco Diva, Lady Cyclops, and Snake Charmer/Egyptian Warrior tomorrow.
