Borador Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 If it is true that the director has been in promotional material for two years, then I'm gonna have to retract my earlier statements. That's almost definitely not series 13. Maybe it could be, but I doubt it. The only real chance of it being in series 13 in my opinion is if it undergoes a significant change and that the one we see here was just a prototype that they used because they needed a director and just had that design. I doubt that though. That really sucks, because I kinda wanted one... Quote
Robert8 Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 It seems the list of Series 12 first surfaced on 19th May 2014, so over 4 months before the 1st October release date I think that happened because the S12 minifigures appear in the MMO. It's similar to the S11 list, which was leaked in Nov 2012: 10 months before the official date release. S11 minifigures appeared in The LEGO Movie and the MMO. we do expect a January 1st release for Series 13 We don't know that. I think it's unlikely a 3 months gap between S12 and S13, especially if LEGO is promoting the MMO with the S12 minifigures. I don't remember if the release date was stated in the Swiss site. Maybe just2good can answer this. Could somebody remind me of the release dates in previous years? S1 - May 1st 2010 S2 - Sep 1st 2010 S3 - Jan 1st 2011 S4 - Apr 1st 2011 S5 - Aug 22 2011 S6 - Jan 1st 2012 S7 - May 1st 2012 S8 - Sep 1st 2012 S9 - Jan 1st 2013 S10 - May 1st 2013 S11 - Sep 1st 2013 TLM - Jan 1st 2014 TS - May 1st 2014 S12 - Oct 1st 2014 Quote
wlderdude Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I've really enjoyed the Collectible Minifgure line and have bought a lot of them the last couple of years. But at $4 a pop, it doesn't really matter what they release. Okay, if that shepherd guy in the sketch were to come out with a decent looking sheep, I'd buy a few of him. Or maybe that kindergarten kid. Just 1 of that boxer short guy. Okay, okay, I'm weak. Quote
CM4Sci Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Look who I ran into today at Toys R Us! -Sci Quote
gedren_y Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 The tailor/boxer-shorts-guy image makes me think we might actually see another wedding themed set, possibly in City or as a Modular. Just what goes through my mind. The director might actually be on hold until The Lego Movie 2, slated for release in 2017. Did anyone else notice that the Artemis image is holding an arrowless bow? That's a piece I would really want. This is all pretty much speculation at the moment. Here are what I think are some obvious ideas for potential CMF figures. 1) Monster's Bride (to go with the CMF 4 The Monster) 2) Romeo, with two-sided head masked and unmasked (they've already done three figs from the plays, Shakespeare himself, and the upcoming Princess could easily be Juliet) 3) Flower Power Girl (to go with the CMF 7 Hippie) 4) Leonardo Da Vinci with an updated Vitruvian Minifig printed tile 5) Bigfoot/Sasquatch (recolor the Yeti) 6) Marching Band Player with a white or blue shako, and a tuba or drum (to go with the other high school themed figs) 7) Hunchback (to go with CMF 9 Fortune Teller) 8) Boudicca/Celtic Queen 9) Sci-fi Hero, Flash Gordon or Rocketman like with a cylindrical domed helmet That's just off the top of my head. egg roller Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Omg. You have to look in the embassy forum thread for the topic titled (I think) "what figs are we missing?" SO many of the suggestions have come to fruition in the CMF line. I just looked at the first page and it looked like the designers lifted the ideas directly from there! Pretty cool in retrospect. Dorayaki Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Licensed CMF takes the same production capability and shelf space as the non licensed ones... unfortunately. Still I am pleased with what is in Series 12. Perhaps a reduced frequency with condense the great ideas. I would like to see more special series in the future. However, just letting them occupy the production line of regular series would create some other problems. I think it's either that LEGO add more lines, or they should reduce the cycle time to allow more annual figures. Not being critical, I think each series is also restricted by some production rules so there are still some less popular remake characters. There are new great ideas, but making FOLs long wait wouldn't also make these series much better. Quote
Robert8 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I just remembered The Big Bad Wolf, he is mentioned in the MMO but his image has been suspiciously omitted: Besides, he appears in the Alexandre Boudon designs: So, he could be a S13 minifigure (Of course, this is just speculation) Quote
lifeinplastic Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Thanks for confirming the dates Robert8 - I wonder why the 3rd series is 'late' this year? Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 For this series I want that Alien-esque monster on the bottom right of that image. Quote
Onslaught Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 There is also another Alexandre Boudon design in this picture. We saw 2 of them. Minatour and Cyclops small versions. Yet there are 2 more different minifigs. Especially I was waiting for Chaos Lord for too long. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I really want the Halfling and the cleaver-toting Goblin... And that Elven Archer lady (maybe conceptually too similar to Forest Maiden) and the armored Elvish(?) guy with the spear. Quote

I would buy more of it than I had bought Evil Knights from series 7 or minotaurs from series 6. And I have something like 50 of those. No, not 25+25. 50+50. Quote

Every now & then I'll think I have more Evil Knights & Minotaurs than I really do (6 of one, 4 of the other), and then wish I'd nabbed more... I got tired of standing around feeling the baggies every visit to a store with those figures. I've got about 50 (give or take a few) Fantasy trolls, tho. I'd go nuts on those Goblins... I've made my own short goblin race with TCW Weequay heads, but they'll gladly share the spotlight with a hefty pack of those pointy-hooded little maniacs! And now with the Simpsons' short multi-colored legs (and the SDCC Rocket Raccoon), maybe a Halfling with yellow feet is possible; too late for any Peter Jackson hobbits to get that treatment, but a Halfling Hero with bare feet? Yes, please! I'll take a dozen! Quote

Hopefully at least a few appear in S13. If they don't, I hope whatever does is on par or surpasses them. There are some cool ideas there. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I'm not worried about a barefoot Halfling not matching Frodo & Friends... Those guys are fleshies, a CMF Halfling would fit in more with Castle Fantasy, like the CMF Elf Warrior... The more Tolkien-esque, D&D/WoW-type races pop up in CMFs (or better yet, a sequel to Fantasy), the merrier! I'd even love a new Fantasy Troll in the CMFs--maybe a Troll Hero to counter the Evil Dwarf? In any case, a new expression for the red-eyed, tusked, sand-green-skinned orc stand-ins of Fantasy! Quote

Dorayaki Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I just remembered The Big Bad Wolf, he is mentioned in the MMO but his image has been suspiciously omitted: Besides, he appears in the Alexandre Boudon designs: In other references he has mentioned that these are not all for CMFs. He also planned a Fairtytale series for common folks like the Monset Fighters he initiated. I'm not sure if The Big Bag Wolf could work, due to the fact there have been many other werewolf and wolf-like characters in LEGO lines, so at most there could just be a recolor of the previous wolf characters but not a new mold. Another problem is that, according to the folk, TBBW should be a real talking wolf, not a minifigure. Unless we're asking him to cosplay Grandma....... Thanks for confirming the dates Robert8 - I wonder why the 3rd series is 'late' this year? It's mostly suspected that the codes of MMO game need to be patched after some time of development, so it's postponed. Although I think there should be another series to fill that vacancy. There is also another Alexandre Boudon design in this picture. We saw 2 of them. Minatour and Cyclops small versions. Yet there are 2 more different minifigs. Especially I was waiting for Chaos Lord for too long. Even though the "mini"figure version of the monsters are super cute, it's truly a pity not making a unified mold. Mongus is the obvious answer from LEGO. Quote

Wholeheartedly seconded, though Im worried that series 13 will be rather sparse on historical/fantasy figs, since weve got quite a few in series 12. That would be dreaming enough. :) Why do you think so? I would say an Orc/Troll is a stereotypical and familiar enough concept in western culture be be made as a minifig... I expect to see one someday, though I hope it will be the same sort as seen in the fantasy line (sand green skin, red eyes) - Im more worried it would be olive or lime green instead. Yes, I do agree with you, but I've been waiting such for 12 series, being the evil Dwarf , Minotaur, Cyclops or evil Knight my best picks in the meantime, Of course a Troll/Orc/Goblin would made my day. gedren_y Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 About the overmolding in the Simpsons, it is the ankles, not the feet. That wouldn't give you barefoot hobbits. Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 About the overmolding in the Simpsons, it is the ankles, not the feet. That wouldn't give you barefoot hobbits. I meant they could do a similar kinda thing to give barefoot halflings, not that the Simpsons' short legs could be used for halflings directly (or I'd have scooped up a few extras), if what I'd read about the process (layered colors) was accurate. Even if it wasn't, SDCC Rocket has different-colored feet compared to his pants. Printing, molding, however they do it it'd be nice to have short barefoot legs for Fantasy-esque halflings and kids (barefoot ragamuffins! City kids playing in sprinklers or at an open fire hydrant!) Hobo 7. Teacher 8. Ghoul 9. Snake Charmer 10. Doll 11. Confederate Officer 12. Birthday Boy 13. Mailman 14. Bartender 15. Referee 16.
