Hinckley Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 It's nice to see the provincial facade. Is Friends leaving the city? I like the quaint brick feeling of this. Like others have mentioned, the purple roof and random splotches are ...meh... but there's this cool thing I discovered about LEGO bricks. They come apart and go back together in all sorts of configurations. So you just might be able to replace those splotches or even put a different roof on it. Crazy, huh? Sorry, can't resist. I'm aware the criticism is about the set and everyone knows they can build their own. I also wish sets would resolve some of these "randomness" issues. This is one reason I like the Friends line. It concentrates on complete buildings as opposed to the "movie sets" we're getting from licensed themes. Quote
Vorkosigan Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) Regarding 41108: We really need a 1x1 brick facade piece, and honestly a corner piece as well (either 1x1 or 2x2 L shape) I wish they'd made the scooter in a new color, so far all we have is this mint color and red. Pearlescent silver, or black would be great. Given this is Friends maybe I should be glad its not magenta or lavender, but a medium azure would work nicely like the jungle motorcycle. Why is the ground floor of the shop a light azure plate? Is it flooded? Honestly a nice set in general though. Edited April 25, 2015 by Vorkosigan Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 (edited) Haha, I also don't like blue-related plates as floor. I love this set but I'm going to MOD the heck out of it,-starting with mixing it with Juniors Supermarket. Edited April 26, 2015 by Lordofdragonss Quote
Dorayaki Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Why are there random splotches of purple everywhere??? Why are there bits of tan in the roof??? Why is the line of medium dark flesh abruptly interrupted by a tan piece??? Well.... good eyes. :p Yeah, the concept is similiar with the Junior set 10684 (although it's debatable why it wasn't under the Friends' brand). And I agree that this is getting some conflicts with Creator's direction. The only differences are different color palettes and.... uh.... figures.I do think this is an appealing set, but I expect that the main building tries to use an original concept to make difference. Bricknblue Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I like it. It's rare when LEGO makes a building for less than $50, even more rare that it doesn't have a police officer in it. It's not perfect, but LEGO never is, but it's 90% there and I like it. And people complaining about colors, the purple looks nice. Need I remind everyone of this puke of colors? Quote
El Garfio Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Fortunately for male city fans, the new Friends sets include a lot of white and tan. Dark purple and light-blue is acceptable in the right percentage. Light pink looks fine with tan. Bright pink, IMO, doesn't fit with anything. If not, we can use our stock to change it to other color that fits better with our city. I'm agree, we need "profiled bricks" for corners and for odd number wide walls. Quote
girlontheleft Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Well.... good eyes. :p Yeah, the concept is similiar with the Junior set 10684 (although it's debatable why it wasn't under the Friends' brand). The Junior set is probably a bit simple/young for the Friends brand. And I'm guessing they don't want to be perceived as forcing all of the girl-oriented stuff into the minidoll-related brands. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Well, since my baby left me / I found a new place to dwell / It's down at the end of Lonely Street at / Heartlake Hotel I'm looking forward to seeing interior pictures of that hotel! From what I can see through the windows, it looks like we'll get lots of great interior detail! Quote
def Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Fortunately for male city fans, the new Friends sets include a lot of white and tan. Dark purple and light-blue is acceptable in the right percentage. Is there a quota of acceptable pink and lime green that boys can use? This might just be the obvious choice for inane post of the month. Any posts here that claim acceptable colours for male (or female) fans need to be taunted. Lego fans need to be above the stupidity that overwhelms so much of the Internet and Western society. Don't we like LEGO since it's not GI Joe or Barbie? We can do better. Let's do better. Quote

Well, if you've heard the discussion about DC's possible minidoll line, the brand thing isn't all about being exclusive to a certain figure. It's rather weird to say that Friends couldn't do anything with starter sets or minifigure sets. Quote
El Garfio Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) If you are building a city in a realistic palette, some elements in bright color, fit well (if you don't want to use the word acceptable). A lot of them, make a city looks unreal. I don't know all the Towns of Western countries of the world, but in the ones I know there are no many pink, purple, lime buildings. I express my opinion into an AFOL point of view. For children, all should be acceptable and nothing should cut their creativity. English is not my first language, and I'm sorry if somebody has misunderstood my words. Edited April 28, 2015 by El Garfio Quote
SweetiePie88 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I finally found the series 6 animals. Passed on them. They were at Walgreen's for 6 bucks, plus tax, each! To much dough for such small bagged sets. Been drawing a blank elsewhere One Walmart, last time we were there, still only had a mix of wave 1, 2, 3, and 4 in the store. Second Walmart has been, for the most part, out. Only animal bag finds there lately was one time I found a single tiger set on sale for 2 bucks and am other time I found a single turtle set for 2 bucks. Third one hasn't bothered stocking any in months even though there is room for at least an end cap display. The target we tend to go to more often is the same case as Walmart 3. I decided to move onto Minecraft stuff instead. I bought the cave and built both the mine and first night sets as accurately as possible from parts from my collection. Going to be pursuing both the desert set and dungeon sets. Major thing saving the animal sets from the parts bin is the fact I haven't had time to put my version of the series 6 sets in the display case to see it all together. After that, its be a matter of seeing when I'll need the space. Might wind up moving my TLM 2-in-1s in there. Quote
lowbike1 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Haha, I also don't like blue-related plates as floor. I betcha you could swap the blue for a different color, can anyone confirm? Quote

El Garfio Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Some prices seen around the Net: €120 for the hotel and €35 for the junior family house In the line of the last prices revealed by Lego, a bit expensive for Southern European economies. Quote
jonwil Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Very pleased to see that the 2015 Mia's Roadster set is an electric car. Great to see LEGO exposing kids to green technologies. Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I agree, a great set design.....though my guess will be exclusive to a retailer. It has components more detailed from that box art picture than the last city airport. Quote
K4kitty Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Oh I'm just going to have to get the plane! That and the hotel will be my main Friends purchases this summer :) Quote
PastVPresent Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Hotel is already for sale at Legoland Billund store, looks like a great set Quote
finnbricker Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I thought the new Friends sets would be released on 1st June. But here in Finland, I can't yet see them at S@H. Changing to the US or German site doesn't help, either. Some retailers have the new sets in stores already. What is the official release date for those? Quote
