LEGO Guy Bri Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I hate to make a topic like this, but I'm quite frustrated. I am using a MAC/Safari and am wondering if anyone else (most likely US shoppers) are not able to open Shop.LEGO.com/US or unable to be redirected from another site (i.e. Brickset.com)? If I type in the first address I get through to the shopping site with all features (Theme/Categories/Exclusive options, checkout bag, etc), but I get the LEGO minifig with two plugs unplugged saying "Page not found". If I click on something like my bag or a featured product my page goes to: "Safari cannot open page: Too many redirects trying to open [LEGO address]. This might happen if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which is then redirected to open the original page." I get same page if I try to go through Brickset links. I can't view anything on the shopping side of LEGO.com, but no problem with the kid side. Is it something with my computer or their site? This has never happened before and it's been like this since I tried on 8/25. Any advice would be appreciated
Brickdoctor Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I'm not sure what links you're clicking on to get to shop.lego.com/us, but that's the wrong URL. S@H in the US is shop.lego.com/en-US/. I can't replicate the 'too many redirects' error by clicking on S@H links. I can't see any page resulting from clicking on Brickset's affiliate link, but I don't get an error. (Mac OS X 10.9.4, Safari 7.0.6)

(Mac OS X 10.9.4, Safari 7.0.6) That is the original URL I typed in, but it did what the Brickset link to LEGO's shopping site by going to "Safari can't open page". Those links, "Safari error" and " LEGO page not found" pages, were copied in hopes that it wasn't only my computer showing this, but as you stated, you aren't able to see what I see. Thank you for the MAC OSX/Safari versions, I see mine aren't up to date. I will try that to see if it makes a difference
m0dulo Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) That is the original URL I typed in, but it did what the Brickset link to LEGO's shopping site by going to "Safari can't open page". Those links, "Safari error" and " LEGO page not found" pages, were copied in hopes that it wasn't only my computer showing this, but as you stated, you aren't able to see what I see. The link to the store's main page has to be: http://shop.lego.com/en-US. The "/US" in http://shop.lego.com/US is not a valid path on their server, which is why you get the error. I apologize because I don't fully understand what the original scenario is or how to reproduce it. It sounds like you might have typed the URL incorrectly or followed a bad link from somewhere. Your browser most likely is not malfunctioning. Edited August 29, 2014 by m0dulo
LEGO Guy Bri Posted August 29, 2014 Author Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Sorry for any confusion, I'm having so much trouble trying to explain this, but http://shop.lego.com...questid=2387366 is the actual link sending me to the "Safari cannot open page". I just dropped the 'en-' shop.lego.com/en-us just while typing my OP. I've been following the shop.lego.com/en-us from the get go. Following the literal http://shop.lego.com/us, gets me farther than it's actual url linked at the beginning of this post. That takes me through to the shopping site, but instead of showing me sets available, it just says "page not found". From there I can click on the 'theme', 'categories' or 'exclusive' bar to view sets ot my checkout bag, for instance, but then Safari comes back with "cannot open page due to too many redirects". I hope this makes a bit more sense. Edit: It has to be something with Safari. I just installed Google Chrome and can access the full site. What, in or on Safari, would or could get so screwed up that it's blocking me from the shopping section of this one site...? I mean seriously, how is this even a thing Edit 2: Now the link is working on Safari... What the heck is going on?? Edited August 29, 2014 by LEGO Guy Bri
fred67 Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I don't know, but if you just do shop.lego.com you should get to the right page, no US or en-US necessary (it should redirect you there automatically). Anyway, glad things are working for you again, even if you don't know what the problem was.
jimmynick Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I've used Safari with the online LEGO shop, but I haven't had problems with it (I do navigate to it through lego.com, though).
Chills Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 On the site right now, using Safari on a MBA. No issues.
talos Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 There are two versions of the S@H site, the desktop version and the mobile version. I prefer the desktop version, it has more links, and doesn't screw up as much. I have all sorts of problems using my iPad with the mobile version, like if you hover over some photos for a set, seems random, it will add it to the shopping cart! That is annoying. I have a bookmark link to the S@H site, and I know that works right. Redirects from other sites can be iffy, they are for adding in special pricing for a discount or to get credits back to the originating site for hits...stuff like that... I am using Safari for nearly everything, and have noticed the S@H site has been very slow this whole week.
deraven Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 I concur with the other folks- just go to shop.lego.com and you'll get there. The link you referenced (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/cart/convertBasket.jsp?_requestid=2387366) has session-specific data in it; trying to get to a specific shopping cart in a specific state, so that's not going to work for very long in most cases as the session data will expire in your browser and/or on the server side. Use the regular link and click through from there to what you want and all should be fine. :)

Where are you getting this link? From the name of the script it is calling and that it references a unique and dynamic ID, I'd assume that even if it ever worked it probably doesn't work now. Following the literal http://shop.lego.com/us, gets me farther than it's actual url linked at the beginning of this post. (Edited to add: I'm genuinely interested in why this is happening. I don't mean to sound dismissive. I'm just being overly objective. ;) Edited August 29, 2014 by m0dulo
The Jersey Brick Guy Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 shop.lego.com redirects to http://shop.lego.com/en-US/cart/convertBasket.jsp?_requestid=59726 Needless to say, it hasn't been working for me for the last few days.

I'm just being overly objective. ;) To be honest, I couldn't tell you what had changed on my computer. I'm genuinely as interested to figure out what happened, as well. I had the LEGO shop site saved in my search bar, so all I had to do was start typing "shop" in my address bar and my MAC would fill in the rest just as it had done since 2010 (That "unique, dynamic address", as you stated, works now again for me). When that didn't work, I went to Brickset, from there to a set currently available at LEGO.com and clicked on the link that is supposed to open a new page for the set on the shop site. When that didn't work, I went to typed LEGO.com in google search, which gave me all the different links to LEGO's site. I clicked on their Home site to try and work my way through to the shopping section. Upon clicking on "Shop" link it brings up the prompt, "You are about to visit our shopping site". From there I clicked 'Continue" and again was sent to "Safari cannot open due to too many redirects". I also tried checking and installing updates for my MAC, clearing cookies, cache, even resetting Safari. All did nothing until I installed Chrome. On a side note, I did notice on my Safari's regular google search, the results page's text is slightly smaller than it used to be and if I click on images, after a search, the display of the images is completely different. They pictures are smaller, spaced further apart, and are now direct links to their host site, as opposed to how the used to expand with a black background giving me the options to a) visit pic location site or b) visit original host site. If that makes sense
ISDAvenger Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 If you get the redirect message, you need to clear your cookies.
VintageLegoEra Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Chrome is best browser. Plus I encountered some problems withnthe site and found out the server down due to heavy load...so reload or wait if u had it again
rodiziorobs Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) Yesterday I was also having trouble, but everything pointed to a server error on LEGO's end. Seems to be working fine now. Edited September 14, 2014 by rodiziorobs
Deathleech Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 If you get the redirect message, you need to clear your cookies. I was having the same issue and just cleared my cookies and it works fine now. I think the redirect page even mentions clearing your cookies.
