I can't seem to find any threads about the lego board games, Harry potter, Atlantis, and especially heroica. Can anyone point me int he right direction, and are any of them still in production?

I haven't built any Heroica yet. A few weeks ago, I got four of the Heroica sets on MASSIVE discount at Toys R Us--something like $5 or less for each set. (I also got the Harry Potter Hogwarts game for the same price. Thank goodness I waited on that one.)

I haven't opened them yet, as I'm curious if they're worthwhile games, particularly as one massive build or not. We only own a few Lego Games: Monster 4, Ramses Pyramid, and Creationary. Monster 4 and Ramses Pyramid are both OK, but you play them a few times and then get bored with them. Creationary is loads of fun and is really the model for how Lego Games should have worked--being creatively focused.

I hate to say it, but I found a lot of the Games series to be more useful as a cheap source of pieces when I've found them on clearance. I nabbed very-discounted sets of Magicus and Sunblock. I bought two copies of Magicus, one for cheap parts. The other we played a few times and then sold in a yard sale. Sunblock, I never played--I just had a project where I needed those particular parts.

Anyway, back to Heroica--I'd like to know how well it plays as a board game.

the first set arrived in the mail today. Caverns of Nathuz. I have assembled it and read over the rulebook. i really like it. I am expecting the others tomorrow. Hopefully we will be able to play them individually this weekend and I will let you know what the 7 year old in the house thinks.

I like them fine as games to play with my kids, although my 5-yr old loses interest before its over if we string two or more boards together. I like that it easy to alter the rules to keep the game interesting--we will sometimes use a point system to determine a winner, give the various weapons different powers, and have random enemies appear when a certain number is rolled, for example.

However, the thing about them is that you almost have to change up the rules, periodically, otherwise they lose their charm a bit.

As far as other games, I think Heroica is probably the most creative. I just wish the Batman and LOTR games had made it to a US release--I would have liked to have given them a try, but I'm not willing to pay $50+int'l shipping for them.

My daughter is a pretty big hobbit and medieval knights fan so that is how I will introduce the game. I think she will have fun making up stories as the games progress.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you find the first four for ten dollars each? Having only recently gotten into Lego, I would love to pick a few of these up, but they seem to have dried up in my area before I bought my first Lego set.
