Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 "We just want to go talk with them. Oh, where can we get rooms?" Quote
Khorne Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 "Ooh sabertooth cats! Where can I find one of those?" "They're quite rare. You can sometimes spot them during the winter in the northern steppes. Their fur makes for some warm clothing." "The south, huh? We're from Eubric, which I suppose is South of here - most of the world is. Ever heard of the city? And yes, we do have a bit of business with the Polkung... Potentially, anyway." "I actually meant the south of the Empire. Never left Dastan in my life, but I have heard of Eubric. I mean, who hasn't? Kind of weird that some Eubric folk come all the way here for some business with the steppe barbarians." "We just want to go talk with them. Oh, where can we get rooms?" "You need to talk to them? What's so important? Rooms can be rent here, by the way. Just ask the bartender." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 "Orel, you ok with the lass knowing?" Quote
Khorne Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 "Orel, you ok with the lass knowing?" The paladin was sweating quite profoundly again. He pulled his collar and gulped. "Euhm, yeah, sure, I guess...? Whatever helps us in our cause. I hope it brings us closer to our lost brother." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 "Alright. We are heroes of Heroica, and we are looking for a follower of Ennoc. He went missing while he was here, and we are trying to find him. We asked about the Polkung because we heard they could be savage and may have had something to do with it. So far it's our only lead. Do you know anything?" Quote
Endgame Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 "Yes... I don't suppose you've ever heard of the relgious conflicts the Polkung may cause? I know you say some of the Polkung may be tame, but the captain says otherwise..." Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 "So is that where you're from, the North?" Quote

Do you know anything?" "A follower of Ennoc? Many people follow Ennoc, but a while back there was some preacher kind that visited these parts to spread the word and Light of Ennoc. I didn't really pay him much attention. I found him kind of weird." "Yes... I don't suppose you've ever heard of the relgious conflicts the Polkung may cause? I know you say some of the Polkung may be tame, but the captain says otherwise..." "I guess it's all a matter of perspective, really... If people try to push Ennoc on the Polkung and they resist and rather keep their own gods. Who's causing all the trouble, then? Those who remain true to their gods or those who try to force their way upon others, even if the intentions are good?" "There are troublemakers. Every society has its rotten apples. Doesn't mean the entire people is rotten. They're just different. I might've mentioned it before, but I don't believe they would stood between the Empire and VIking invaders for such a long time if they didn't at least feel the slightest loyalty to Dastan." "So is that where you're from, the North?" "Nope, like I told your armored friend here. Raauwtch! I came here from southern Dastan, in the footsteps of my family. My father is in the army and he's stationed here." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 "True, but preaching your faith to others isn't troublemaking if you are respectful and peaceful. That's why we are here. We hope nothing bad has happened, and we'd like to find out." Quote

We hope nothing bad has happened, and we'd like to find out." "I don't really know all the details. I hope you find your guy. Sadly, I doubt I can be of help anymore, I told you most I know. Like I said, I didn't really know the priest or have talked to him. Maybe you want to speak with the guy with the mustache over there. I think he shared some words with the man you're looking for." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 "Thank you." Leofwein approaches the man with the mustache. "Salutations. Have you talked with a priest of Ennoc recently?" Quote
Khorne Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 "Thank you." Leofwein approaches the man with the mustache. "Salutations. Have you talked with a priest of Ennoc recently?" "Whaaat? Who are you people? Why would any of my dealings concern you? If it really matters, thought, I did have some words with a missionary a while back. Interesting fellow he was." Quote
Endgame Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 "Did he mention anything about where he was going?" Quote
Khorne Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 "Did he mention anything about where he was going?" "Peculiar fellow he was. I had an interesting conversation with him about the gods of my people. The priest had come here to spread his faith, but it seemed liked he was starting to favour our gods more. He said he wanted to know more and abandoned his mission here in search of his spiritual self in the steppes. He wanted to live among the Polkung for a while, I think." The old man gestured towards Orel, noting the Eagle emblem on his shield. "You people here to retrieve the priest, perhaps?" Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 "Eh, trying to find him. We were afraid something bad happened. Thank you for your help." Leofwein talks to the party. "Well, that was unexpected but we still have our lead with the Polkung. I say tomorrow we head for them and sleep here." Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 "You said it, I'm getting tired anyways." Quote

"Well, that was unexpected but we still have our lead with the Polkung. I say tomorrow we head for them and sleep here." "You said it, I'm getting tired anyways." "So, you guys want to get some sleep, eh? Sure, no problem. I'll inquire with the innkeeper about some rooms and then we'll head out tommorrow. I hope we can find the priest. The steppes seem terribly large on this map." With a troubled look Orell lead the way towards the bar where the party waited to head upstairs to their rooms. "If you want to sleep in my rooms, it'll cost you 3 gold pieces per person, please, per person it costs 3 gold pieces if you want to sleep here." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 "Alright. I will pay for myself and Lynne as she's short on gold." Quote
Khorne Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 The party paid for their stay and were led upstairs by the innkeeper. After a first good night's rest in a couple of days, the party woke up fully rejuvenated and eager to work on their lead on the missing servant of Ennoc. At the break of dawn, after a sturdy breakfast (which was included in the price), the party set out, leaving Farrech and 'civilized' Dastan behind them. Around midday they no longer found any trace of people or habitation around them. In front of them, there were but endless seas of grassy plains, covered with a small patch of snow here and there. Khorne Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 QM Note: Full update! In search of the missing priest, servant of the deity Ennoc, you will traverse a part of the windswept steppes of the Northern March of Dastan. These lands are the wards of the Polkung, horsemen who protect the realm from attacks. The old man in Farrech gave you the directions to a known Polkung encampment. It is believed the priest resides with the Bloody Blades tribe. The location of their encampment is marked on the map. To reach their goal, the party must specify which direction they choose to head: north, east, south or west. When traveling from one (2x2) square to another, the party will have a 1/3 chance of encountering prowling inhabitants of the steppes, 1/3 chance of suffering 1 damage from the icy northern winds or 1/3 chance their travels go well and nothing happens. The party's starting location is the bottom left square. What direction will the party head first? "So this it, then. I've never been this far up north, I think." The Paladin looked around and up and down. He closed his eyes briefly and smiled. The only noises heard were those of birds and the whistling of the wind through the grasses. "It's so...silent here. Peaceful. Hard to believe this place has seen so much bloodshed. May Ennoc watch over us." Quote
Endgame Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 "So, it will only require two bursts of travel to reach the Polkung camp, if I'm not mistaken?" Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 OOC: Yes, only two bursts? Are the white plates snow? I'm just wondering if they have any effect or anything. Quote
Khorne Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 OOC: Yes, only two bursts? Are the white plates snow? I'm just wondering if they have any effect or anything. QM Note: Yes, it takes two turns to get to the location. The only things that matter are the green 2x2 tiles with the stud in the middle. The rest is solely decoration, so the snow will not hinder you in any way . However, each time you move one square, I will roll to see what fate awaits the party. So, if you move 2 squares (like you're planning in this case), I will roll twice. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear . Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Polly gives a long whistle. "It's big. It's like the ocean, just lots of grass. So what are we going to do, if they have the missionary man all tied up, or put him in prison? Ooo or maybe they ate him!" Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 "Umm. .. I don't know Polly let's look first." Ooc: ok! We will move the 2. Quote
