Here's my entry for the Mount Up! challenge: The Nocturnus Rous

This unusually large rodent is a choice mount for any Nocturnian. The Rous was domesticated through centuries of careful breeding programs. Programs through which the largest, strongest, and most trainable Rouses were selected to continue the line. Not many breeders remain today (probably because Rous breeding has not proven to be as popular/profitable as the horse, wolf and wyvern industries), but there are a few who remain loyal to preserving the breed.

A nifty little factoid to note: the Rous secretes a fire retardant oil which comes in real handy when riding through the southern Moruth swamplands where dangerous flame spurts frequently occur; atop your Rous, there is nothing to worry about.

Phew! Just in under the deadline... I think... right?

I finished the head eons ago, shortly after the mini-challenge was announced - but the rest of it was all done today. It turned out a bit larger than I had originally wanted, but I really liked the head and so decided to build the rest of it to match (size-wise). Those new ball joints are fantastic for creature building, I just wish they all came in black. Oh, and I just watch The Princess Bride for the first time - I definitely borrowed a few things from it...

C&C always welcome :sweet:

I have to say that this is my favorite entry. I like the look of it, it looks menacing and those teeth just make this a whole lot menacing. Great job!

Very scary for sure!

Very creepy. Better hope this doesn't visit me in my dream!

Impressive

Wow this is great. A nightmarish creature befitting the realm of Nocturnus.

Whoa, amazing! Very menacing!

Dear lord..! Terrifying and wonderful.

Nope, I never want to meet this animal in real life! :D

A perfectly dark build, rightly suitable to Nocturnus. And the Princess Bride reference doesn't hurt.

Excellent mount, well built head and legs. Definitely one of my favorite entries at the moment.

I bet it never even has to fight! One look at it and everyone would be fleeing in the other direction. This is amazing and truly terrifying, let's hope it stays well within Nocturnus.

I feel the Princess Bride reference strong in this one. I also feel terror. Great build and very effective photography. The head and torso in particular are just excellent. What did you use for the tongue? I am not so much a fan of the exposed plate on the foreleg, it looks a bit out of place. Excellent build!

Very well made mount Emma! The mouth rocks and the overall design is top notch!

Very scary, you really know how to create a nocturnian atmosphere. Now just think what you could have done if you added a base, which was built also as good as this, instead of having white background...

Very nice creepy mount.

That be an awesome mount :)

Great build Emma, this really captured the feel of your guild and the life(or undead life) of the landscape there. My only concern here is that you addressed only 2 out of the 3 dangers of the fire swamp.

That looks amazing. Great job.

Whoa! I really like this one, what a wicked beast!

Scary! That head is awesome! Great use of black spikes, they really convey the "Ah, I'm scary!" feel.

Fantastic job with your mount, very ferocious looking! The slight forward tilt is really great, and all those horns really add to it!

wow, nailed the rodent look! i would rather be chased by a cave troll!

Terrifying creature for sure! It reminds me of the LotR fell beasts, but more down to earth (pun totally intended) :classic:

The head is definitely one of the best we've seen in this challenge.

Awesome entry Emma, stellar critter and very fearsome looking! This build is filled with creative parts usage and skilled building, especially the head. Perfect pic of the mouth - that's the last thing anyone would ever want to see. Hats (or rats) off to you!
