Hey all. :classic:

So I finally got around to working on the Nebulon-B Frigate again that I started building in MLCad quite a while ago however I've decided to build it in LDD (Lego Digital Designer) instead. This way it will be a bit easier for me to make it in LDD. I imported the old model so all that progress is still there so I'll use that as a base to carry on with it. I've done a bit of work on it already but there's still quite a bit left to do. here's my progress so far.

Looks quite raw so far. Can you show us the orognal model to compare?

Yeah still a lot of work to do. The LDraw model that I started with looked like this:

NBFV0.4T.jpg

And that was based on the actual physical model I made a few years ago:

NBF05.jpg

The plan is to make that ^^ digitally and improve where I can.

Nice work. The rear seems a little blocky

Thanks. :classic:

Yeah still have to replace all those bricks with slope pieces. As I said above theres still a lot of work to be done.

Hi apemax, the overall dimensions look pretty good, but as the previous posts have mentioned it does look a bit blocky. I don't know if you're looking for inspiration, but mortesv produced a rather stunning UCS version

Good luck with the build, and I look forward to seeing your progress!

Hi Apemax, nice project :)

I see you have chosen a traditional voxel-based building technique, which gives your model a cool retro quality. If you have any questions regarding proportions or detailing feel free to ask :)

Best

Hi Lobot, Thanks. :classic:

Wow I don't think I've ever seen that UCS Nebulon B before, Definitely the best looking Nebulon B I've ever seen.

Hi Morten., thanks. :classic:

Just like to say your Nebulon B is simply amazing, Best Nebulon B I've ever seen for sure. If mine ends up half as good as yours I'll be happy.

Very classy, nice.

Thanks. :classic:

It could really be a less blocky but it actually looks very good.

Thanks. :classic:

It looks very nice. When it will be built in grays?

Recently, I have built it in Microfighter scale. Despite the limitations of this scale range, it came out with proper proportions (mind the medical droid sitting on top of it, of course :)).

I'm going to decide on final colours once I finish the actual model itself. That is a very nice Microfighter scale Nebulon B. Well done.

I've gotten a bit more done over the past few days so I thought I'd post a update on what I've done. I've replaced the bricks on the rear section with slope bricks and done a bit more work on the front section as well. I still need to do the same for the other side and work on the rear section a bit more.

Still a lot more work to do but it's getting there I think.

I've got some more progress done over the past few days so here is an update on what I've done. I've done the other side of the front section as well as started work on the very bottom part of the from section, I've also added more detail to the rear section. I'll probably do a bit more work on the rear section as well as the bottom of the front section next.

I've been working on my Nebulon B Frigate over the past few days so here's an update on what I've done. I've added a bit more detail to the rear section as well as finished off the detail on the bottom of the front section. I've also been thinking about the colours so I still need to sort them out and there might also be a few minor tweaks here and there as well. I also need to sort out the internal structure as it's a bit of a mess at the moment.

Great model.

I love the details on the lower front part. They look amazing. The back looks cool too, although I imagine it'd be quite heavy. But I guess it holds together since you already posted a picture of your concept model.

One thing I'd change is the size of the very front. I think you should enlarge that one a bit, it just seems a little too small to me.

Yeah the back section is quite heavy but this new version with be even stronger. Yeah after looking at pictures of the actual thing I agree the very front section does need to be a bit bigger. Going to be rebuilding it. Working on that right now actually.

It looks better now. My advice is to put on some greebling, especially on bridge and engine part and add some colours in the front part.

I'll be adding all the small details when I got the main structure right.

Looks pretty good so far. Curious, could you adjust the center spar to make it more cylindrical?

Thanks. :classic:

I've added plates to the sides of the center spar to help with the look of it. Any better? :classic:

Biggest thing that's changed since the last update is I've completely rebuilt the front section so it's now wider and a bit better overall shape now. What does everyone think?

It looks so much better now. The shape is really close to the original now. Great job! :classic:

Central spar=Much better!

Overall this is coming along quite nicely.

Good, and thanks. :classic:

If I may offer a tiny bit of advice, for the middle section (the long bar), I would put the top and bottom plates in-between 2 rows of technic bricks. That way, your panels on the side can be fixed on both rows, improving the structural integrity of the model.

Check A and B on the following excellent example:

This being said, I would love getting your LDD file at some point. :)
