snefroe Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 it's fun to step into a shop and see an entire shelf of lego sets, that's for sure... personnaly, i like taking those boxes in my hand, and look at all the pictures on them... i'd like to be tempted to buy a set... true... an online lego store doesn't give you that... :() Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 21, 2005 Author Governor Posted March 21, 2005 Then do it again ;) Have fun mate ;) I'd love to, but two things prevent me from doing so. 1. No longer are all the sets are stocked in stores in my area. I've trapsed round every single one of them on a regular basis and some are never there. 2. Lego is no longer producing sets that I want to buy. Ohhhhhhh... I long for the 80's and 90's again! Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Cheer up mate!!! Maybe in 2006 you'll have a brand new pirates line, keep my fingers crossed I will ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 21, 2005 Author Governor Posted March 21, 2005 Cheer up mate!!!Maybe in 2006 you'll have a brand new pirates line, keep my fingers crossed I will ;) Thanks for the moral support! We did get a new Pirate theme last year. That awful 4+ stuff!!! WHHHHHHHHHHHHY did they do that to me! Why oh why! Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 Thats why I did not even dare talking about that ......... It just make me....... *sick* Quote
The Middleman Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 They probably won't come out with a new Pirates line because of the failure of their 4+ Pirates line (presumable failure, that is). Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 21, 2005 Posted March 21, 2005 I wouldn't be that sure because pirates always have been one of the best lines ever created by Lego (with space, city, and of course SW and future Vickings). After there are no licences left, who knows what TLC will do >-| I guess it all depends on how much money the pirate line generated. Also do not forget the second Pirates of the Carrabeans coming out in 2006 (that would be intelligent to have a new pirate line at that time - no need to pay an expensive licence ;) ) Quote

Also do not forget the second Pirates of the Carrabeans coming out in 2006 (that would be intelligent to have a new pirate line at that time - no need to pay an expensive licence ;) ) Lego.com once stated that "the pirate theme was the most popular of all time" when they explained the circumstances to why The Black Seas Barracuda had become a Legend. If anybody has been paying attention, since 2003 Pirate's seem to have become popular again and the number of companies producing Pirate toys and computer games has increased. My 4 year old nephew has Pirate toys from many different brands. Even PlayMobil has resurrected their old Pirate toyline. Never have I seen Pirate toys in such abundance before. I wrote a letter to Lego in early 2003 and forecast that Pirate's popularity would increase. So to rub it in my face they created that 4+ Pirate theme! Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 I was looking yeasterday at the Billund Lego park website (for our little trip there *satis* ) and in the shopping section, there is a huge shop dedicated to Pirates ;) I'm pretty sure that we'll have a new pirate line on of these days, patience there, savy ;) Quote

Mr Yoda you must take your camera and take as many pictures as possible! Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Yep, thats the one ;) Unfortunatly its doesn't, that will be a big surprise :-D Do not worry, I will take as many pictures as possible and post them somewhere. BTW you can quite the "Mr" :-D Quote
snefroe Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 i remember the pirate shop... sure there were some sets in in it, the 4+ series, nothing else, if i remember this correctly... it's going to be very busy, by the way. so, before you take a picture, tell the others to clear the way :P Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Don't worry, the force is strong with me :-D :P Quote
snefroe Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 by the way, Master Yoda, do you get a "news page" on this website? where did the news go to :() Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 Come again my young padawan learner :-D :P Really I don't get your question ;) Quote
snefroe Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 eurobricks always opens with a news page on my pc, basically the page you get when you click on "news". Now i just get the banners on both sides of the opening page... no news what so ever... :() if i click on "news", nothing happens :() Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 OK sorry young Padawan learner for not getting your question ;) ....My bad :$ Jipay told me they had a provider problem yeasterday, and when the website was back on some information were missing such as the "News" section on the homepage. Meaning you've been there recently, but they only had 4+ Pirate sets? That sounds like it could turn out to be very disappointing... Quote
snefroe Posted March 22, 2005 Posted March 22, 2005 i was there in August... i went inside the pirate shop, looked around and found, as is stated in the text mentioned earlier, all sorts of pirate stuff, including sets. Don't forget: legoland is a family theme park: it's focused on small children. boats and trains are more or less children sized, in fact, it is sort of embarassing to wait in the line between all these 6-7 year olds (and younger), waiting for a free boat... Perhaps a group of afols won't have that problem. :P the actual legopark is not extremely large. sure, you can hang around for many hours if you want to, but you easily finish your round in half an hour as well... However, do take the time to get lots of pictures, because the recent buildings are very good. :oo they should clean the old stuff, tho... Make sure you get a place at one of the restaurants as soon as you enter the park, because, these bars and restaurants are always extremely busy and you very often won't get a place to sit... :P in fact, i was a bit disappointed by Legoland. It's a legend and every fan should visit the Holy Ground once in his or her life, but it's a lot more fun for a child than an adult... Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted March 22, 2005 Author Governor Posted March 22, 2005 yes, there are several parks, but only one is Holy Ground: Billund Legoland :P I need to become a multi-billionaire and create my own Lego Land with a strong Pirate emphasis. That'll fix the problem! Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted March 23, 2005 Author Governor Posted March 23, 2005 BACK ON TOPIC Here are a couple of links I've found to recent 6285/10040 Black Seas Barracuda Auctions. snefroe Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 i've just tried to find the barracuda legend on s&h Belgium and it's no longer available. it's no longer available at s&h US either, so it seems. so these prices aren't that surprising. you should see the prices for the first Star wars Falcon! that's just the way it is... >-| Quote
