I think I remember reading under the new terms that they didn't want any ideas based off of current ideas or licenses.

Yet, some submit the Silver Champion as a new set and it breezes through the moderation.

You can safely submit a Tumbler model and title it as BATMAN TUMBLER, YUP THAT BATMAN TUMBLER with 72 pixel font and they won't notice it. Just don't forget to put the minifigure next to it.

We as a Technic community need to get the word out about worthy Technic models that have been posted on Ideas. A good start would be the winners of the upcoming MT contest, as well as winners of the recent Mini contest. Any of those meet all of the criteria and goals - including buildability, playability, cost, etc... Promotion is needed at LUG events, on blogs, other fan sites, etc...

I note that the most popular Technic models, based on ones that sell-out the quickest at our local Toys-R-Us, are ones in the US$20-$50 range. There is market and support for these - there is no reason why a well made small- to mid-range Technic or Model Team set couldn't get passed the Ideas review.

I guess the entries for the TRIPLE contest wouldn't....

Some of those had been posted to Ideas, back when it was Cuusoo, hopefully everyone reading this at least supported them. Certainly, all of the entries should be Ideas-worthy as well.

ALthough I largely agree with this, I think there is one creation that may be a chink in this theory's armour, and that is a large crawler crane. Large crawler cranes abound everywhere, tons of people have built them. However, I think this points to the immense interest people have in the builds. Also, TLG put out one, and only one crawler in I think 2007 or 2008, LEGO 8288, in it was an immense success. Even today, new, sealed models are selling for around 400-500 dollars, and this is on a set less than 1000 pieces! So I think there is an intense interest in a crawler crane.

The other thing is these cranes are pretty simple. Lots of liftarms no doubt, but mechanically can be built much like the 8288 just on a larger scale. I think a large CC, roughly twice the size of 8288, say as a flagship model for 2015 or 16 would be wonderful and sell like ice in hell. If someone were to submit a well built, functional CC around the 1600-2000 piece range w/o motors but just manual functions I think it would get tons of votes, pleasing to TLG, and marketable. I would produce one myself but am currently tied up in other projects.

Yes please, I would be sold in the blink of an eye. Really love the 8288 and exactly what you described is on my MOC to-do list.

Add an interesting color scheme and you got a winner.

Just wondering, why do people want a Technic model to win so badly?

I don't. Only if it is a really really cool Technic model.

I know this is a super late post, but I've wondered the same thing for a while.  I took into account the feedback in this forum and have attempted to publish a technic project that I hope has a good chance.  If you guys want to check it out, or even support it, it can be found here:  -Link removed-

Thanks in advance!

Good moc, bad approach.
EB does not allow joining to promote your Ideas project. Please read site Guidelines.

If you want to gather some support for it, be a nice member, follow our rules and present your moc here properly. Then, we can allow small link as a part of your moc presentation.
Have fun.
