This is the infamous Outlaw city, The Shade, presented here as a micro build. The city is built into a natural widening in the series of canyons and passes through the rocky badlands and mountains separating the Outlaw Territories from the rest of Roawia. All of The Shade's water rests in underground reservoirs accessible only through a complex (some would say maddening) series of tunnels and caverns. Through control over the water, Queen Galainir still rules over The Shade from her castle, which rests high in the natural rise of the landscape, looming over all the grim alleys, ramshackle huts, and corrupt noble estates the city is infamous for.

Note: I tried to capture the feel of a city very much like a favela built below the larger estates of Outlaw nobles. Galainir's castle is exaggerated to create an imposing effect. Also note that the presentation is a sort of "cut away" version where the rock that circles the city is absent from the front so that we can get a good look at the environs hidden within.

Wow Alf, thanks a lot! That's very nice of you to say considering it's the first one I've done. That said, I studied other peoples' for days before I started seriously building this. :P

Thanks Les! I worked on the castle a lot. The houses were more easy for me to conceptualize and implement but that castle was where I started and ultimately where I ended because I realized I needed to build it into the city and not the other way around. If that makes sense!
